I love that there are solo's all over this album, and also that it's so different from what their last two albums. They're proving they're more than techy players with groove and breakdowns. This has soul; they're ever-growing as writers and players, and it's what separates them from the pack. We'll probably never get another "Rareform", but that's okay, because we're getting "Wolves Within."
Has an open seas ocean faring vibe to it. Really puts you in the mood for adventure inward or out. Heading for far away lands never sounded so bold and determined.
its in E flat (basing it off the 8th string, they still only play half a step lower than standard), which is still pretty awesome because my 8 string can BARELY pull that off haha
This is actually the fiirst song that I heard from them play live and it was awesome. Never heard of ATB til I seen them touring with Code Orange (Kids), Killswitch Engage and another band I forgot the name of in Winston-Salem, NC. First time I seen Justin with his neon green Ibanez. The atmosphere was amazing, good music, good company and good times. Rip Justin, your music still lives on.
This band got me into metal and having met them all in person, they are so talented and nice it just blows my mind. When I saw them they did a suicide awareness break in between bands and asked everyone to talk to the people next to them and then proceeded to have the most loving and hardcore mosh pit ever. Metal has evolved beautifully.
All these people bitching about the mastering probably blared As The Palaces Burn in their youth and loved it. People are like food critics now with music. "The steak was perfectly cooked, though the grill marks were 2 degrees off and I had a sprig of cilantro that was far too large when compared to the border of the plate, which has a distinguished chip on the rear that reminded me of how broken and lonely my expectations are."
I love ATB an I listened to ATPB as a kid. Still do. Maybe if you get out of your technical bubble you'll find many bands that are good in their own rite
This song, as with most of ATB's material is nothing short of unreal. Love or hate this band, there is no denying the musicianship and the unbridled passion they put into their music. RIP Justin Lowe, truly a talent to be missed, Riff in Peace brother \m/
After probably close to 10 listens this album IS awesome. Wasn't sure upon a fractured listen of it through these videos last week. Yeah...the NAILED it.
I'm going to see these guys with Animals As Leaders at the Masquerade in Atlanta on the 26th! I can't explain how excited I am. The technical prowess that will be on display that night... It's gonna be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, no doubt?
+Brodo Swaggins haha sry mate yeah of course peace im from switzerland english is not my main speak and i didnt know how high i was as i wrote that haha
If you don't think this is hands down the most amazing song on the album i don't know whats wrong with you. I can't stop listening the riffs are so fucking incredible and that 9th string really shows it's capabilities with that low C#. I am just blown away by how good this song is.
I guess the right thing to say would be "keep it djent" on a real note I'd like to say that I'm knew to the band and Justin's death still hit still hit me.
The lead at 1:00... does anyone have confused emotions? Am I supposed to feel happy? Happy with a sense of dread? The world is ending tomorrow but it'll be okay? Hopeful? Or downright dread. Amazing song
Only way I can describe it is relentless optimism/determination despite visible hardships on the horizon. At least that's how that section feels. Actually that's kinda how the whole song feels to me both lyrically and musically
I love the production on this album. listening through genelecs. none of you know anything about mixing obviously everything is glued nicely in this mix.
well said, I wouldn't be surprised if this album was using some of the best recording equipment around today. especially since its sumerian and they have quite a large following of bands now.
Whoever says Anthony is recording behind a wall to make his growls seem more powerful needs to go see them live... he has no issue and is an amazing vocalist live. Also there are many other options besides recording behind a wall to make your growls sound lower trust me
This one time, Anthony and I went camping and used the same tent, but we only had one sleeping bag so we ad to share it. When we woke up in the noting we docked. Best morning ever

Outcast here, I am going to say that the vocals are brutal as fuck, your just listening to it wrong! This album is super freaking awesome and its interesting to hear after coming straight from Rareform.
there IS a troll in the dungeon tuning his squire to P flat, but i also actually have an 8 string so I thank Luke for dropping the real tuning on me hahahaha i love youtube people
+snapapples817 Actually its in C# Octave, they use a 95 gauge string from La bella, they talked about it many times in a few interviews about what tuning it was in. E standard octave doesn't sound nearly that deep. I play D octave on my 8 string with an 80 gauge string. and they are 1 step down from that.
LambofPantera66 hmm saw this now you have LoG in your name, I really hope you realize how nearly all this songs are based on biblical verses, hint hint they aren't a Christian band either...

ATB- the only band that can write a djent song with a melody in a major scale and still sound badass.
Finally someone with musical intellect and knowledge
Matthew Sanke Amen
SuprGreaseball1 Well, anything sounds heavy when you play it on 9 fucking strings.

I don't like many songs from that album, bu this and Neo-Soul are so groovy and catchy it can kill you.
@@PanosSomethingDoesNotExist how can you not like the rest of the album? I'm just curious. No one plays shit like this.
"FUUCK YEAAHH!!!"

the best word to describe this song is fun. one of the most uplifting, and fun riffs ive heard in metal, and the drop C# tuning is awesome.
lol
All drop tunings are the same, with differently neck position, and drop c# is the standard 8 string tuning basically
Noa Wai What makes you say drop c# is standard?
Noa Wai And I think this song is drop E tuned, not C#
its in E flat (basing it off the 8th string, they still only play half a step lower than standard), which is still pretty awesome because my 8 string can BARELY pull that off haha

Finally, something in a major key! It's actually pretty refreshing. lol
Yes for the verse and solo, that's about it. It is refreshing. These guys just know how to use their instruments properly.
And here and there with a bunch of the instrumental parts. The chorus and prechorus are completely minor. It's all awesome though

Sinking to the bottom I exhale
Close my eyes- Disengage
Here, there is no there
Give me (indication) give me (separation)
With everything seeming pulse-less
Give me (indication) give me (separation)
I'm drifting into oblivion
And there's no place I'd rather be
I'm drifting into oblivion
Isolated in black, my thoughts spin
My worlds divide
I am lost in space
Burning up in the atmosphere
When I finally come crashing down
Wrap my bones inside miracles
A safe place, I am finally home
Pull me in, and help me out (of this hemisphere)
I want to swim amidst the satellites
Sinking to the bottom I exhale
Close my eyes, disengage
Here, there is no there
Give me (indication) give me (separation)
With everything seeming pulse-less
Give me (indication) give me (separation)
I'm drifting into oblivion

This song rocks!
The outro could crush a car.
How the fuck does it sound like vocals are behind walls. Im listening with bose headphones and the vocals sound just as clear as the last albums
It sounds bad because youtube caps audio bitrate at 192 and compresses it poorly if the source audio bitrate is higher.
the more you know
But i heard the same audio they heard and it sounded just fine.
yeah UA-cam sounds like shit but in my A50s everything is golden anyway. vocals included.
I get what he's trying to say. The vocals are indeed clear, but the singers voice sounds monophonic, kinda like he's screaming into his hands.
