Been using these for camping, out here in the desert. One for protection and one as a kitchen knife out on the trails...

In the UK and America this knife is sold as a Duct Knife.
I bought one for defence purposes. It's much more suited to that than survival or bushcraft.

Ive ordered one for my boat, after i got a rope round my prop recently. We got it untangled but it looked to me that my usual knife would just tickle it and i wanted something more substantial. Looking forward to trying it on some rope.

That kind of knife is more atleast in my book a commando knife. It is made for only one thing;) I love when you struggling with that ferro rod Bryan, To teach other people you must show them that the teacher fail sometime. That is respect.

Seems well suited for gizzard removal, When used in conjunction with the saw, suitable for even the most difficult Gizzard removal tasks.

A few decades ago, we knew how to use the cutting edge without melting it. Carbon steel, of course. Kabar (soldier) with a Victorinox. Both worked. This knife has applications, but only (to my thinking) as a back-up. Notice NO MENTION in the video or Klein site re: type of (so-called) stainless.

I think the sheath leaves a little bit more to be desired. If I were to purchase something like this I would probably have my friend make up a kydex sheath for it

Looks just like their duct knife but with a black handle. I found an old Klein duct knife in an attic doing some HVAC work and the handle was chewed up (literally, big rats) but the metal is still really good. I now use it in my garden every day. XD

I did not know Klein Tools made knives. The knife is similar in design to a Blackie Collins design dagger and a Gerber. While I'm not a huge fan of serrations unless they are on a steak knife or a mariners rope cutting blade, it is only serrated on 1 side. I would use this as a combat blade without hesitation. I will admit to a bit of shocked surprise when you started batoning that knife through wood, but was glad to see it survived. In the rotational test, we will attribute the bounce back to operator error 🤣 failure to follow proper scientific procedures. 🤣🤣🤣 really nice looking knife, good price, good features, ferro rod included, nice sheath system. I give it a 10/10 it's a keeper

Thanks for your work on the reviews. Probably need a different set of scientific tests for double edge daggers. This is not a bush craft knife. I’d like to see what it can do well and not how well it does when forced into service for a task it wasn’t designed for. Also, please ask which budget steel they are using. Thanks Brian.

A good tool or tackle box knife for less than $20 dollars is a decent deal, the ferro rod is probably worth $3-5 dollars.

  • @glenmo1
    @glenmo1 Рік тому +3

Unfortunately that one's double edged.. which really limits its usefulness as far as I'm concerned.. in Connecticut unfortunately double-edged knives or illegal to carry.. again it also limits certain uses..BUT life does look beautiful so it reminds me of the old SOG brand daggers of the past. I definitely would be interested in it in a single edge

Seems to be a confused dagger: blades on both sides. Not set for battening. Good review. I’ll stick with my Parker survival.it’s survived Iran, Iraq, and the Yukon.

Hard not to compare it to the Milwaukee duct knife. Looks like the knife itself is a little bit better made, but the sheath is definitely a downgrade. The ferro rod is the kind of thing that's always a nice inclusion but it's a bit of a head scratcher here because as much as the knife guy in me loves a double edged dagger, it's kind of a terrible shape for bushcraft specifically??? Still sounds like a great buy for the price point.

Nope, a non sharp 90° area on the tooth side is ok, but the fine edge needs to be sharp to the grip for fine work. Price is a good point but can't get past blade starting so far out.

Probably be a decent fighting knife. Outdoors ? Wouldn't work for me. First, I love all my Klein tools. I carry my 5" blade with me 24/7. It serves as a kitchen knife more than anything, but can field dress fish and game or baton. It is designed as a fighting knife, but the important thing is, no double edge, as that is illegal to carry where I live.
A serrated edge has it's uses in rescue, but in the field, not so much. I carry a different knife clipped to the outside of my EDC bag. It has a seat belt cutter, 50/50 blade and glass break. If I need to build a fire, I have alternate means of doing so, without having to rely on my main knife. Certainly not sure what use a 7mm wrench is in the US. Must not be made in the US. 1/4" would be much more versatile.
While I love my Klein tools, I also love my Spyderco, Mora, Leatherman, Cold Steel and Boker knives. Not a fan of the "Rambo knife". But for less than 20 bucks, might be an OK addition to my collection. Thanks for your video though.

1st I’m from NJ it’s a double sided knife, which makes it a dagger…. This is a 2C law violation….. so unfortunately, as good as it can be …I’m out…welcome Mora or Gerber or Ka-Bar…. But daggers are NG here. Second it’s not good for batoning …double edge
