Trondheim is not placed correctly on the map at 0:53 either. The red dot looks closer to Aalesund or Molde. Trondheim is located in the huge fjord north east of your red dot.
0:44 The Tromsø island is not connected to the mainland via bridges, only 1 bridge. The north east bridge on your map is a tunnel. The western bridge is not going to the mainland, but another island named Kvaløya (5th largest in Norway). The only bridge is the south eastern one one.
Correction on a mistake in the video: The closest team in the Eliteserien last season was Bodø/Glimt, over 8 hour drive each way, Rosenborg BK is the second closest.
Could've mentioned some previous notable players and perfomances in europe; Tore Andre Flo (Chelsea, Rangers, Sunderland) Morten Gamst Pedersen (Blackburn) Roger Nilsen (Sheff utd, Tottenham) & brother Steinar Nilsen (AC Milan, Napoli) Sigurd Rushfeldt (Racing Santander, Austria Wien) Ole Martin Årst (Anderlecht, Gent, Standard Liege) They also famously beat a star studded Chelsea 3-2 in 1997/8 during what some would call extreme weather conditions.
I went there to see them play Bodo/Glimt in 2018, it's a really great place to go, particularly in the football season, the town is quite a lively place and the setting is spectacular.
TIFO, your videos are great! But this one, about my hometown club, was a bit dissapointing, all though I can understand the fascination with the «nordic», «arctic» perspective. A little less on the snow shoveling, and more on players/history would’ve been more just to the club. Keep up the great work, though!
Geografien er helt på bærtur også. Bommet to ganger på kartet for Tromsø og satte opp Trondheim i Sogn og Fjordane. Glemte også Bodø Glimt. Slett arbeid.
hallvard tryggeset I sent on loan from LA galaxy to Tromsø and we won the league. Didn’t get to play CL with them, but they lost in Round of 16, and I felt a strange sense of pride
You start with one of the best youth facilities in Norway, a handful of great talents and Norway is considered attractive to a lot of players (players from less developed nations love to play in high developed nations, I don't remember the exact mechanics of it, but Norway scores really high), so you can easily attract good newgens from Africa and to a certain extent South America. Winning the CL is going to be hard with any Scandinavian team, you are never going to reach the salary levels of English, Italian or Spanish teams. But Tromsø is by no means the most difficult Norwegian team to do it with. If you accept doing a few years of youth development, that is. In previous years, Tromsø had Scandinavias best hoyd as well, in Truls Jenssen. Now he is at Brann, and I don't know if he is still a model citizen, but if you can poach him back, you are set to produce the finest talents in Norway.
Fun Fact: after Tromsø beat Galataseray in the first round of the Europa League, Fenerbache fans bought all available Tromsø-fan articles and showed up to the rivaling match between Fenerbache and Galataseray wearing it:)
Fun fact. During their last game of the season against Stabæk. The Stabæk supporters were cheering on Tromø most of the night hoping their local rivals, Lillestrøm would get relegated instead. If not for some bad luck, it may have been the first time in my memory supporters of both teams would've rushed the pitch in joy
Tromsø is on the roll this year. 3th place and fighting with Viking and Bodø/Glimt to win eliteserien after 18 rounds. Concede least amount of goals in Eliteserien as of now. Looks like they will take a medal and be able to play in Europe next year. 😊
Tromsø IL is in the top league of Norway. This year actually 3rd, having a chance gor Silver. Next match next Sunday will be exciting. If they get silver they qualify for European Championships.
@@phoenix-king779 I recently looked at the map of Scandinavia and was surprised at how far Tromsø was (although I was unaware of the presence of a professional football club).
Bodo/Glimt are the closest team to Tromso IL in the top 2 divisions and are currently on course to win the Elisterian this season as they are unbeaten at the halfway point they would be the first team from inside the artic circle to win a European top flight league.
Greetings from a fan of Hapoel Be'er-Sheva, the southernmost UEFA top-flight club. Our greatest achievement would be 2 wins over Inter and 2 draws with Southampton in the 2016/17 Europa League (group stage).
I've been lucky enough to see them play. It was a sureal experience to see a game in such a remote location and all the fans I met where friendly and welcoming.
Reminds me of back when teams like energiya Vladivostok were in the Russian Premier League. Travelling all the way to the far East was no easy task for anyone.
The snow and lack of sun aren't so much of a problem during the season, since it runs end of March to the end of November - the sun doesn't set from mid May to the end of July. Of course, these factors are a problem for the players and the club, whilst preparing for the new season, but it doesn't define them. The travel however...
Been to about 400 matches, and played against them in the 90's. Yes, the snow and cold is a huge problem. Several players got injured because the grass was so hard. But I remember most the time TIL played against IFK. - 13 degrees and the only player in shorts and shirt was Karim Essediri from Tunisia
That Norway map darwing is completly wrong, 0:37 Trondheim is a bit more north and east, 0:55 And another note: The norwegian season is played from March-November and lately there hasn’t been that much snow in the winters up here so snow shouldn’t be a problem in the Eliteserien matches. Harry Kan also Played in goal vs Tromsø in 2016 :)
As unlikely as it sounds, I went to school with someone who played from Tromso. I didn't know him personally but I had classes with his sister. Small world.
In that case; train the finnish player Valakari, get Bakenga back from loan and replace everyone except for Wangberg and Antonsen. That's what I would do anyway.
3:24 Correction , it was the 2013/14 season when Tromsø qualified all way to the Europa League group stage , finished 4th in 2012 league season , beating all the opponents from the 1st qualifying round despite relegation from top division in the same time
