Was prepared to roll my eyes at the “women of impact” theme. Then realized how badass and rare this is, in a world of female oriented shows like The View in which people choose to gossip about other people’s personal lives rather than self improvement.

I love how much you all focus on knowing ourselves to become more confident, healthy, and accepting of our strengths and vulnerabilities. I people-pleased most of my life, only occasionally putting my foot down when I needed a change. During one of the most brutal PTSD-issued times in my life, therapists kept pushing me into prolonged exposure, but I knew so little about myself that I blacked out anytime a stressful situation hit me. I started writing a fantasy book as a journal of sorts. Since I focused so much on the outside and immersed myself in books and my inner world, it made sense to have an alter-ego. I knew I hated outlines and needed to experience the journey, so I started writing whatever came to mind.
After 6 years writing, editing, and formatting the novel, I self-published it on Amazon. And found my calling. In the process, I've learned to say, "no," set boundaries, relax the fibromyalgia tenderness, SLEEP, lose weight as my cortisol levels lower, and accept the mystic side that was trapped inside. Thank you for your impact on the world, Women! :D

I was hesitate to watch this at first in fear that it would be too diet culture focused, the area I am desperately trying to avoid (so hard). Very relived to see it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I love the messages here, especially the focus on how the body feels. I like my coffee drinks but through self-exploration I have noticed that to enjoy it without any nasty side effects I need to consume it after eating, I need to drink it before 4pm, I need to not already be tired or anxious and my body just responds a lot better to it. They don't feel like strict rules (in the past I had everything labelled as un/healthy and would only consume healthy). Now I know deep to my core that I can have that coffee drink WHENEVER I want however if I have it during the above times I should be willing to be prepared with the consequences. I don't get cravings for it, I don't miss it on the days I don't have it, I just get to really enjoy it when I have it. My aim is to to get to that point with all consumables, I still have a long way to go but I hope to get there soon.
I think we all need to just stop labelling food as healthy or unhealthy and replace it with helpful and unhelpful. When I think about why I started labelling food as such in the first place, it was only because of what information has been put out there. Everybody responds differently! Being vegan might work for some but not others, needing to only eat meat and nothing else may be what someone else needs. The problem is I never listened to my body - the body that KNOWS better if I just stopped to listen to it and stop trying to control every aspect and act like I know better than it. I am working on having trust in my body and it's ability to communicate to me. For me to just stop and really listen to it. Never come across either of these women before and I know they will be a great addition to my circle.
As always fab content here. :)

Lisa, I really love this format for Women of Impact. Having a group of experts discuss a topic from their various areas of experience & expertise is more informative & entertaining than just the 1 on 1 interview format because the flow of the discussion brings ideas & issues out in an organic manner. This also sets you apart from Tom's style on IT w/ the 1 on 1 well researched probing questions to have the guest reveal the secret step to their success. Please continue with this format even if it's only once a month, because it's more complicated to organize & produce.

Lisa, I have struggled for about 15 plus years with digestive issues.
I have gone the traditional and holistic approach. I have tried eliminating all foods and reintroduce them. Nothing is helping me. I have spent THOUSANDS and thousands and still have bills coming in. I don't make a ton of money. That's not the point. I have been clean and sober close to 7 years. I DO indeed love myself and have slowed down. I still have major digestive issues.
Food never digests and constant pain and discomfort.
My point in this is actually to ask, Lisa are you feeling better? Have you found some relief?

I still struggle with body dysmorphia prefer to be doing as you are doing working out weight training be fit and healthy rather than sin and I was on a good track and then I got physically sick couldn't work out at all Now put on a solid 10 lb of not muscle LOL I am bigger than I have ever been and I'm uncomfortable with it episodes like this help keep me on track

I have the same issue I don’t know how to eat and not work at the same time.
I feel like my mind needs to be used while I am eating 😬
I am going to try and just eat slowly today

I'm working on this as well, but instead I try to think positively while I eat rather than thinking about work. For example I try to think about what I want to achieve, my dreams, etc and think about how the food I'm eating is fuelling me to reach my dreams :) It helped me feel more relaxed without getting distracted with stressful thoughts

Oh I’ve learnt a great trick... every time you take a bite, put your fork down. And don’t even pick it back up to prepare your next bite until you are done chewing the previous bite. It totally helps to eat slow!

question about the journal.. how many time do you go back to read your thoughts? or is write and let go?
I write on my journal but never go back to look at it again.
Obsessed with the show by the way.😍

OK, I quit! It's good that I am not right there in the classroom. Otherwise I would simply jump in every issue to continue the conversation :) Precious.
Wait, wait. I cannot believe what You have just said Lisa about Your hormones and current state! Because, in my 32nd I got the same information about me last week. We need to reset ourselves with 1) AT LEAST 7h of sleep next 2 months, 2) before every meal, work, decision: BREATHE IN and BREATH OUT deep enough to sense it in the gut. To be continued ♥

    Omg I love this!!
I tend to get depressed, anxious, overwhelmed.
I took a couple of days just for me this week. Doing nothing.
On the second day I could feel how I wanted to get back to work, I wanted to start making videos and posting, and all that jazz.
But I had to stop myself.
    Feeling so good now.
Listening to your body is so so important ❤️

    Lisa
It's your favorite East Coast housewife Christine.
You are spot the foxtrot on with these ladies...you need one more: Alisa Vitti.
I too had digestion ish, found myself in perimenopause at 38.
    BUMP. THAT.
11 years later I menstruate like a damn CHAMP.
No small feat since "lady parts issues" (early onset menopause, ovarian cysts & cancer, partial hysterectomies) have plagued all the women in my family, including the ones that married in. Every aunt. Every cousin. By their midforties.
    Then
Have Tom drill down into the work of Dr. Steven Porges. You both require his knowledge of the polyvagal system.
    I'll be watching.
