I have a question. The sideload apps wont show in my apps list..i have to go to Apps and then see all apps and start them from there. Is there a way to fix this??
Do you know if there is a way to prevent or block automatic updates to the Android OS? It seems that when the OS is updated and the ONN4k restarted, it loses the ability to connect to ethernet and loses or trashes the connection to my USB memory stick. The only way to restore that is to do a factory reset and avoid the system UPDATE button. THen I can once again connect to the internet via ethernet but still have to reinstall apps and re-format the USB memory stick. Any ideas on this? Thanks.
I doubt that your issues require the extreme necessity of doing a Reformat to your box. I don't know about the 'ethernet' part (I purchased one of these, but haven't set it up yet), however I have watched a 'TechDoctorUK' YT video on setting up External USB storage and there is a particular issue with Google-TV (probably regular Android-TV, as well?) ... If you have 'USB Debugging' toggled ON (within your 'Developer Options' setting) and you want/need to Reboot your box for any reason (or have safely unmounted and unplugged your USB flash drive to connect to a computer or laptop (to load some movie files, etc) ... when you plug it back into your ONN 4K box ... IT WILL NOT BE RECOGNIZED! You need to go back into your Developer Options and toggle OFF your 'USB Debugging' setting! Reboot the box and it will NOW scan and recognize your USB drive! Easy-peasy! Once that happens, you can turn 'USB Debugging' back ON (i.e. if you need it for 'Mouse Toggle,' 'Remote ADB Shell' app commands, either of TDUK's App Killer or Cache Cleaner apps, etc). You just need to remember to turn it off before doing a Reboot (or in your case, a System Update loads during down time and automatically causes a Reboot ... or there's a power outage or whatever). In that case, just go make sure to toggle 'USB Debugging' OFF and Reboot. If you need the link to TechDoctorUK's video, let me know. I'd include it, but I don't know if 'T4S' would have an issue with it or not? You can FF to about the 13:06 mark where he explains the idiosyncrasy issue (but I'd watch the whole thing). As I said, I don't know specifically about your Ethernet issue, but wouldn't be surprised if that is caused by this same thing. If you are using a multi-port USB Adapter (w/Ethernet port incl.) connected to your ONN 4K box via an OTG adapter, then it makes sense that this would no longer be recognized also! I'd unplug it. Then once you have your USB flash drive storage recognized (per above), I'd plug it back into your Adapter. Then go into your Network settings to see if it gets immediately recognized (if not, Reboot your ONN box one more time). Just make sure NOT to toggle back ON 'you know what' BEFORE doing this! (lol!)
