I hope your shop offers decent insurance coverage on your tools. A tornado leveled a shop I worked at in Oklahoma a long time ago, and mangled a lot of toolboxes and equipment. Shop covered damage for the most part, but I didn't have 5% of the amount of tools you have right here. Impressive setup!
For those who say snap on boxes aren’t with their money..I traded my 2006 72” masters with stainless top, hutch and locker last month for a 68” epiq and my dealer offered me $10,000. I bought it in 2006 for $11,500..to lose only $1500 in 17 years is pretty damn good…sweet setup man!!
ROFLMAO I ve spent less than $200 for tool storage over the last 15 years. I use plastic tubs with separate ones for metric and U.S. wrenches and sockets. The ratchets are in a Christmas popcorn can I have MORE tools than this guy does, and well over 400 pounds of fasteners, metric U.S. and screws arranged by size in coffee cans and occasionally a bucket. I dont understand anyones mentality of paying such ignorant money for a toolbox. I could restore an older car for less money. Ive been repairing vehicles long before this kid was born......1972

Ive ALWAYS done things MY way, and Ive repaired vehicles others could NOT. I would WANT you to walk away, my services are reserved strictly for those with some common sense and those who are seeking someone who isnt part of giving mechanics a bad name.
One of the first guys that I’ve seen who also uses a combination of dewalt/Mac battery tools aswell as the snap on 14.4 line I have a similar setup for power tools and love the combination.
there are 2 reasons i do those combos. 1) i started with snap-on power tools when i was an apprentice, and i already had the battery line. 2) i had dewalt at the house for home stuff so it made sense to go mac/dewalt at work. everyone who says “milwaukee is better or more powerful” doesn’t realize that you don’t necessarily need all the beans. living in texas and working on toyotas you don’t need 1000ft lbs. sure it’s nice, but my stuff works just fine lol
@@TxToolGuy I work on heavy ag equipment up in Canada at a John Deere Dealer and my 1/2” dewalt brushless is very comparable to my coworkers Milwaukee I’d almost argue stronger. Sockets also make a big difference for torque transfer
If I could have a dream setup it’s this. The black and green is sick and I am trying to get everything in black and green but for now just starting out in the dealership (Chevy/Cadillac) been here about 6 months and I am digging it. Never worked in the automotive field because I didn’t want to turn my hobby into work and then lose the interest of working on my own stuff. I should have done this sooner not when I’m 30. But we all live and we learn.
i was in the same boat man. i turned my hobby into a career and was afraid of getting burnt out, and i eventually did. but what saved me was simply changing who i worked for. i went to a different dealer and found that things were better elsewhere. and now working on all makes and models helps keep the job interesting and different everyday

Your right about having so many pliers. I have a drawer full but I work industrial maintenance. That’s also the reason I have the much hated adjustable wrenches but I deal with alot of bigger stuff. Capri is a good brad but their ratchets suck. I tried them out and then took them home and threw them in a drawer never to use again. It is nice having a drawer full of ratchets even though we have our favorites. Funny thing is I only thought us maintenance workers owned so many toolboxes at work. Lol.
when you work on all makes and models you need all the tools and all the storage lol. but yeah adjustable wrenches for me aren’t it. i prefer the right side. Capri just released a 90t ratchet and it’s much more smooth than their 72t. definitely an upgrade

I found a large hunting knife and a 3 ton low profile jack 🤷♂️ took it home 🤣 also it’s like a mechanic shop for crashed cars so if it’s totaled we take stuff that people just leave in the car never take them so yes

thanks, man! that was when i was at the dealership. i flagged about 300+ hours a month and always in the top 3 out of 40ish techs for efficiency and hours flagged lol so they didn’t say much about my setup 😂
@@TxToolGuy yea when you flag that much they really cant lol hoping i can get my numbers up close to that. That last shop i think the best i managed was a bit over 100 hrs for a pay period. Everything else was averaged around 80
so the icon handle is slightly larger than the snap-on so you have to drill the grip out slightly. all you do is put the ratchet in a vise and use a lady foot to pry the old handle off. then use a rubber mallet and tap the new one on. sometimes they are stubborn, i’ve heard of guys getting boiling water and dipping the handle in there but never personally done that method. usually just beat the crap out of it lol
i actually like them a lot! i use the 1/2” daily for wheels and various other things. i broke the lock for the adjustment wheel, just the top part of the tab so it still works just have to use a pocket screwdriver to lift it up and tekton sent me a whole new torque wrench for the warranty
Do yourself a favor and google obsessed garage tool box grid system. Especially for your sockets. It’s a lot of work to set up but you could probably fit all your sockets in one drawer when your done and still have space left over. That system saves so much room.
Can you do a video on that 3/8 in a 1/4 ratchet with the hard handle? Did you have to swap that handle yourself on an industrial ratchet? (Shown at 4:23)
There will come a point when you need to take the tools out of the socket, screw driver, plier, and any other thin plastic it came in. I kept mine in them for a while till I kept running out of room in my box. I have a master triple bank with hutch and overhead locker. 3 large roll carts.
i actually started getting toolbox widgets and stuff recently. makes so much more room, i started with my epiq cart. if you check out my instagram i got some pics up and the newly organized drawers. i also want to swap a 4l drawer in my cart to 2 2” drawers so i can fit more stuff that doesn’t need a 4” drawer. like screwdrivers and stuff don’t need a 4” drawer. i’m going on 8 years professionally but wrenching total about 14-15. went to college before wrenching professional

I love the epiq mobile workstation. The top draw all sockets is heaven. When I had my krl1022 I had sockets top draw, wrenches second draw.

so the icon handle is slightly larger than the snap-on so you have to drill the grip out slightly. all you do is put the ratchet in a vise and use a lady foot to pry the old handle off. then use a rubber mallet and tap the new one on. sometimes they are stubborn, i’ve heard of guys getting boiling water and dipping the handle in there but never personally done that method. usually just beat the crap out of it lol

How do you like the Tekton split beam torque wrenches ???
i actually like them a lot! i use the 1/2” daily for wheels and various other things. i broke the lock for the adjustment wheel, just the top part of the tab so it still works just have to use a pocket screwdriver to lift it up and tekton sent me a whole new torque wrench for the warranty

Do yourself a favor and google obsessed garage tool box grid system. Especially for your sockets. It’s a lot of work to set up but you could probably fit all your sockets in one drawer when your done and still have space left over. That system saves so much room.

Can you do a video on that 3/8 in a 1/4 ratchet with the hard handle? Did you have to swap that handle yourself on an industrial ratchet? (Shown at 4:23)
yep, i got an industrial flex head hard handle and took the black handle off and put the green on. then did the 3/8-1/4” swap kit

There will come a point when you need to take the tools out of the socket, screw driver, plier, and any other thin plastic it came in. I kept mine in them for a while till I kept running out of room in my box. I have a master triple bank with hutch and overhead locker. 3 large roll carts.
i actually started getting toolbox widgets and stuff recently. makes so much more room, i started with my epiq cart. if you check out my instagram i got some pics up and the newly organized drawers. i also want to swap a 4l drawer in my cart to 2 2” drawers so i can fit more stuff that doesn’t need a 4” drawer. like screwdrivers and stuff don’t need a 4” drawer. i’m going on 8 years professionally but wrenching total about 14-15. went to college before wrenching professional
