I love that Blancmange LP. Not just for the music, but I just love that record cover. I hope you keep posting Richard. You have good taste. 😉

      Thanks for watching, Brian.
Yes, the cover art is great - they used that style on their later albums covers too.

Hi Richard, A very timely showing of that Curved Air->Air Conditioning as we are having a heatwave in my part of the world. I've had my copy of that Blancmange album since it was first released. I've always loved it. I also have a few 12" singles by Blancmange as well including "Living on the ceiling." I am a huge Roxy Music fan but wasn't aware Andy Mackay had ever released solo material. ✌

Hi Mike, thanks for watching. If nothing else the Curved Air picture disc would make a good fan - its a solid lump of vinyl!
Blancmange are pretty well known in the UK for their singles - don't see the albums here much in the wild.
Andy Mackay's solo albums (albeit there's a cast of thousands backing him up) are pretty obscure. I also have his other album - it came out in 1978 and is loosely a concept album relating to Chinese culture.

Love The Hoople..Ian Hunters' last album with them and probably their best...Trudis' Song is so beautiful...i read that Ian begged Mick Ralphs not to leave the group and offered him half his royalties to remain.
Syd and Bowie were kindred spirits in many ways in terms of their left field and quirky creativity.
    Good video Richard

      Thanks for watching, Rob.
That's interesting to hear about Mick Ralphs - possibly Ian was worried the band would miss his song writing abilities. Needn't have worried as all the tracks on The Hoople are winners.

ive always wondered how that picture disk plays. i think spooky two is up there with the mirror. until recently MOTT was my fave i have warmed up to THE HOOPLE as of late. cheers!

Thanks for watching. The picture disc plays 'OK' - little rumbly on the turntable but bearing in mind the record is 50+ years old its tolerable. MOTT is my second fave - only just pipped by THE HOOPLE - both are great!

Hi James, just watched your latest vid. What's the odds of that - two servings of Blancmange on the same day!

Nice bits there Richard. That Moroder album is decent. The Roches debut album is one to look out for. Absolutely great album, which includes probably their greatest moment ‘The Hammond Song’ Robert Fripp played & produced the debut.

Thanks Harris. Funnily enough I did also have The Roches debut album that sold at the very first fair I stalled at - did not get to listen to it!
