Thank you for showing this amazing dog breed! My Girlfriend and I was backpacking in the Philippines when we came over a little aspin puppy that could walk on his back legs. We ended up using 2 days to bring him to a vet from Palawn and spent 6 months doing paperwork so we could get him to Norway.
He has now lived with us for 3 years loving the Snow and hicking in the norwegian mountains

Aspin or Askal is one of my favorite dog breeds! Not only it's cheap or even free (from where I leave), I just love their fur type and their features and they can look really good if taken care of properly. And it's not really different from raising an imported dog breed. My neighbors may brag about having a different and an expensive dog breed but really, they just serve the same purpose.

I know this video of yours is kind of old (2 yrs), but not too old.
But I agree with what you said. As a Filipino guy myself, I can understand and can relate to your thoughts and ideas.
Majority of Filipino people never value their own products, even with our own native pets.
We have a bad culture that most of our people always look up to "IMPORTED" stuffs or as you mentioned "HIGH BREED".
They just neglect, abuse and ignore our ASPIN, even the cats, they treat them poorly, too, and they always gets abused.
That's why there are a bunch of stray cats and street dogs in the Philippines, especially in Manila...sad but true ! 😢
But it is something the Filipino people need to think about changing.
The government can also help out by educating and promoting awareness to the public, by using the mainstream media/ social media by starting to educating people.
Better yet, set up some of their own agency like in the US, any state have their own ANIMAL WELFARE or animal shelter, which adopts street dogs and stray cats, and also put them for adoption.
It really is a bad culture of my own country that they have their own native dogs and cats, they don't even pay attention to these animals out there as they go by their daily lives. It's almost like to most Filipino people, these dogs don't exists, or they are like INVISIBLE ! Only in the Philippines, baby !😢
To me, it is almost as being heartless to these lovely and adorable animals !😢😂

Please evaluate the trainability of the Asong Gubat (aka Forest Dog, Philippine Witch Dog). They are rarely socialized with dogs and humans, with only few individuals domesticated. However, recent news on their application for FCI recognition has raised interest in keeping them as pets. Training may be an essential element for this mainly "wild" breed. Would be interesting to see them integrate into society.

HI there! Glad to have watching you from Ireland! Yes, I get updates on the pack occasionally from my crew there. King and 2 of the others were found dead in September. Not sure how they died, but reports of them throwing up blood then dead soon after, could be poison, or parvo virus, who knows? The others are doing well. I look forward to going back when travel is permitted again to reconnect with the pack. Thanks for your interest.
