- Three of Guatemala's three most active volcanoes have incredibly erupted at the same time.
The last time the phenomenon occurred was in 2018, killing hundreds of locals when communities were inundated by gas, ash, and rock.
I was in Banos, Ecuador a few years ago when the Tungurahua volcano erupted. You can feel the explosive pressure sound penetrate your bones from the sheer power of the eruption. Exhilarating and terrifying all at the same time.
I was eating an encebollado while a toothless lady was giving me head.. ah memories.. I was there too.. I made me come too early... damn volcano ..

sounds like a great idea, everyone near a volcano should pay a lava tax to face costs for rescue, repairs and so on, its not fair to have smart people living FAR from volcanos pay for these ppl
Relocating these people to a safer place is something I wouldn't mind donating to.
Problem is that folks purposely live and raise crops here, due to the incredibly fertile soil as a result of past eruptions. It is a risk living here, just as it is in earthquake, tsunami and hurricane prone areas.
The fields up there produce about 3x as much crop as other areas and the land is cheap as hell and largely un-taxed. They know what they're doing.

Out in the Caribbean, two islands have volcanoes that are also showing activity. La Soufriere volcano on St Vincent and Mt Pelee on Martinique. Interesting is that in May 1902 both also became active at the same time. The 1902 activity came with disastrous results. The 1902 eruption of La Soufriere killed 1680 and the Mt Pelee eruption killed 29,000.

One of the volcanoes currently erupting produced the 3rd largest eruption of the 20th century. I am referring to Santiaguito which produced an eruption 10x larger than the 1980 eruption of Mount Saint Helens in 1902 (Santa Maria eruption). However, I wouldn’t worry too much about that volcano. It’s been continuously erupting since 1922 at a moderate intensity

Bizarre...just imagine sitting at home feeling you can’t flee while the friendly neighborhood volcano randomly rattled your home with an alarming “boom!”.
Similar to the frequent earthquakes there were when I was an American who lived in Japan. It's a freaky and scary feeling to be standing in your kitchen and all of a sudden the world starts to sway and floor tiles popping up everywhere. You don't know where to stand because the floor is buckling and waving and windows are blowing out. The worst is that there is absolutely nothing you can do but stand there, wait it out and hope most of the windows don't crack and pop out of the walls.
