One of the most shocking realisation through the occupation of Palestine from 1948 to the present genocide, is the ignorance and stupidity of people in positions of power, politicians, mainstream journalists and academics from educational institutions. The lack of historical knowledge of the creation of Israel is never addressed. This is what feeds the narrative and creates an apathetic public.

This is an invaluable discussion even from the vantage point of Australia where similar behaviour among academics and within scholarly associations is prevalent.

Control of culture: academic organizations, universities, the media, religion, movies, tv, radio - how we think - is a type of battleground.

Yes. It’s fast becoming the main point of discussion in western culture. I suppose it’s because in the colonial context it’s obvious who the exploiters and gen0cidists are. The teeth of power are bared openly. but here in the west there is still a buffer, albeit freyed and battered as the students of the University encampments found.

Thank you to these thought leaders for not being afraid of leading the way. Thanks Makdisi Street for another provocative discussion. Procedural repression is a process I am now pondering..

I find the buddhist notion of non attachment to outcome helpful even though extremely difficult when speaking out against the horror we've been witnessing. You and these guests, including today's Seikaly and Alessandrini, allow your watchers to renew ourselves in awareness and solidarity. Gratitude.

The middle East was part of the Roman empire. I don't quite see how Israel, the eastern European colony is supposed to represent Western values (yes i know some parts etc... But not the area as a whole)

    Gazans/Palestinians : It's called "lying by omission"
another way of not telling the truth.
