I'm always shocked that everyone doesn't do it this way! Grateful my mom taught me this when she taught me how to hand sew for a project I did in 2nd grade! I'll never forget that project, we had to do a book report with any visual aid you wanted. My book was The Velveteen Rabbit and I made a (very basic) rabbit plushie with button eyes, all made from a pair of velvet trousers I got at a thrift shop. I learned so much from that.😊
@@HookedbyRobinhonestly though, it is hands down the best way to thread a needle whether you are using yarn or actual thread. Because yes, I even thread my normal sewing needles that way now. 😅😅😅
Thanks, Robin - it's amazing to me to watch experienced needleworkers try to thread needles the way you do it with regular thread - I learned the fold technique as a child!

Aw the Velveteen Rabbit is such an adorable book! I loved it as a child 🥰🐰
Agreed. I thought this was the first thing anyone would have learned using thread or yarn.
Oh my gosh, this very thing has been the most frustrating part of my existence on occasion, lol. Thank you for sharing.
😅 I am glad it helps!
Works very well for knitting, too.
Absolutely Patricia!
Been doing this for decades. It works!
Wow! I normally just use a cheap needle threader I have haha, if I ever loose/break that this will be my go to method!
Whatever works best for you!😀🥳
Even with thinner yarns I yarn my tapestry needle like that.
I do too - it's funny how quickly the habit can form! 😅

I just pressed it in sideways with my nail 😂 this method is much more refined, thank you!
😂
I finally started trying this after seeing so many creators do it this way! I still fight with the raw end sometimes though. 😂
LOL! We all do it sometimes! 😅
OMG!! I needed this so bad!! When I tried to put it in it kept fraying!! Thank you so much!
I’m glad it helps!😃

I hope it helps Natasha?🧶🤗
I started doing it this way after watching you in the first video I watched! Thanks!
You're welcome!😃🧶
Thank you. Could you please do a video about doing the first chain stitch with the hook? I can't find a video that is slow enough to follow.
I think this is a great tip for everyone 👍🏼
Definitely! 🪡
I learned this from you before in one of your videos! Great trick for beginners and experts!
😅 🙌
If you need it to be even thinner, slide the pinch-fold down to the skinnier/pointier end of the needle!
Fab tip Liz! 😀

A wool needle can help.
Sure gonna give this a try. Almost impossible
Let me know how you get on with it Anita!😃
I think my grandma used a small flattened piece of tape at the end.
Great tip Kim, thank you!😃

Please tell me this works for embroidery thread too before I lose the plot.😅
100% it'll work for embroidery thread! 😅
Yes! almost every thread that goes with coordinating needle can be threaded this way, including embroidery thread!!
