NewRetroWave you are great
Praise the neon!
I keep coming back to this absolute masterpiece. Solar Storm, what have you done? It's been 5 years. Let me go already!
This guy has some real potential. He doesn't fall into many of the pitfalls of Synthwave and makes good stuff. Curious to see where he goes.
Thug in Training
Agreed he has a really unique identity, great sound, fantastic!
Just out of curiosity, what do you think are some of the Synthwave pitfalls?
Unnecessary repetition is like a god damn plague. The Carpenter Brut remix of Dust by M.O.O.N. is a good example of how to do repetition correctly as there are so many layers, and there are breaks and it keeps each part of the song special. The song above does the same thing, though it uses the sounds repetitively, it gives you breaks and gives you more layers as it goes on. In a song of this length that's impressive. The transition at 6:27 lands really well, while retaining the background sound.
People making no effort to have a unique feeling to them compared to the rest. A lot of music I see on NRW just sounds the same and is made from the same tropes.
Artists succeed from finding their own style and combining it with a genre that they like. When you hear a song from DWTD, you know its from them because they have a special sound that is theirs and theirs alone.
In Synthwave I'd say that vocals are very hard to do well, and are very often done in a way that ends up sounding annoying to me. The Midnight does a good job, Pylot does a good job, even The Bomb by Volkor X utilizes cheesy vocals to their advantage to advance the song.
For the record, I'm no music expert, just a guy who likes the genre.
I agree with some of your points, but not all of them. Repetition being a negative trait is subjective. Synthwave is electronic music, which is based in repetition. I'm fine with repetition personally. I am neutral on the "signature sound" aspect. On the one hand it is unique, but artists get stuck on it and become predictable, and therefore boring. Pylot isn't really Synthwave in my opinion. I like him, don't get me wrong. I definitely agree that most vocals in the genre are very bad, but that is sort of expected in such an underground and somewhat nerdy genre. As far as "The Bomb" goes, those aren't vocals. That's sampling.
Tomorrow I'll start a new life in a new far away city.... and this song was uploaded.
Whereabouts are you living now?
Good luck.
Wish you well in your new place :)
Though deal, Hermano. I hope you have had a nice reception in your new city.
I can't help myself, but with this magic dark spacewave tune I have instantly John Carpenter, Stanley Kubrick and Ridley Scott SF movies before my inner eyes... ;)
Any song paired up with a Roger Dean masterpiece is.......very nice.
Sounds like a cover of the Terminator "Love theme". I love it.
Just woke up from a 200 year long sleep in deep stasis and this song was playing
this is one of the best, most original tracks I've seen on this channel in a while. I get completely lost in thought listening, I've probably played this over 100 times. Well done.
having listen to this song since summer I can safely say that it is a bonafide synthwave masterpiece.
I can hear some Jean-Michel Jarre, Dynatron and OGRE in this song ! Love it !
Thank you, they do inspire me :)
Good ear :-)
Great song and with a message that is crystal clear!
I'm listening to this while playing "Freelancer". Ye, that ol' game by Microsoft ;)
Flying through the deep wasteland of space out there. I am alone. I am the space. I am the ship. I am the universe.
Great track.
Thanks for the feature NewRetroWave!
I see a New World full of hope and New Retro Wave song! Who agrees?
Really phenomenal track!! I especially like from 2.45 to 5.00 minutes, everything about it, every chord transports me to another world. Keep up the great work SOLAR STORM!
Very Good
Love this, song gives me determined vibes
Feels so cinematic
Perfect song to listen to when you are sick at home.
Or murdered...
Very cool, smooth and atmospheric track that does have more then a touch of Jean Michael Jarre to it plus seeing Roger Dean's artwork (great for YES albums) also reminds me of those slick, stylized boxes for Psygnosis computer games. This music also sounds like something they'd have done for their games in the waning days of the Commodore Amiga when things got very good.
Very nice
Patrick Bateman Indeed.
pumpkin spice
Patrick Bateman You're back at last!
Eyyyyy!
Oh this is beautiful! Please upload this (and all your others) to Groove/Spotify/Amazon music etc. I need this playing loud while driving!
Wow. I love this track!!
wow this is different. really cool. reminds me of Jean Michel Jarre a little bit
Sinrei yes its similar! also like michael hoenig and Pete bardens!!
I could light my cigarret reading your comment
Thank you, I've been listening a lot of Oxygene 3 prior to making this :)
I think the inspiration for this track is Vangelis - Theme from Antarctica? The melody is very similar.
oooh awesome :D
This is a really beautiful piece, well done to Solar Storm on the amazing track!
STORMWAVE
Roger Dean ❤️
Awesome. Greetings from Brazil
I'm off to college. Moving from the midwest to California, started the drive today. Can't be coincidence.
Really good! Not only the composition, but the mixing/mastering as well! I started listening with doubts ("Spacetastic vibes"), but that wasn't needed. Very well made.
Thank you!
I really appreciate when you upload these space trips. I feel like if I was in Another Dimension.
The best track I've heard so far in this chanel.. Keep the good Work!!!
wow, thank you :D
Great track!
I feel a Dynatron vibe, very nice
Late to the party, but first time hearing this one, I like it alot!
Nice track !
Well Done!
Anton Chigurh Where do you want me to put it?
Anton Chigurh Very Nice 2.0 xD
Anywhere not in your pocket. Where it'll get mixed in with the others and become just a coin. Which it is.

Is that the cover art from 70's prog rock band Yes' album Tales of Topographic Oceans? Seems very familiar. Great synth post btw. Moody but in a good way!!!
strictlynorton YesSongs, an awesome live album
strictlynorton Roger Dean's the artist who did a lot of Yes album art.
strictlynorton looks like an old Yes album cover. Or something by the same artist

STAY RETRO
Интересная композиция - в духе советских фантастических мульфильмов.
"Sometimes I get homesick for the prairie..." anyone know where that quote is from?
Beyond Tomorrow (1940)?
@@zerowave8477 I will have to check it out, thanks!
is "Sometimes I get homesick for the prairie." a quote from little house on the prairie?
Вогонь запалав у моїму серці!
Banjo-Kazooie Spiral mountain 1500 years from now
Where have you taken us? This doesn't look like Earth.
The pic looks like the cover art of my old yes lp (yessongs). Or wait... is it actually just the art that was on the very labels of the records of a specific label in the 70's? Vertigo maybe?

𝐻𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑠𝑖𝑐𝑘 𝐹𝑜𝑟 𝑀𝑦 𝐻𝑜𝑚𝑒-𝑝𝑙𝑎𝑛𝑒𝑡
Exactly what the song is about :)
Anybody else go 'DAMN!'' at 5:15?
DAAAAAAAAMMMMNNNN!!
What is the background pic?
It's a piece by Roger Dean that I think was also used as a cover for the Yes album Yessongs
I feel like I wanna travel extraterrestrial.
What is the source of the voice at the beginning that says "Sometimes I get homesick for the prairie"? Or was it recorded just for this song?
S I C K
This reminds me of Scarface. Great song.
Nery Vice
Oooh the ending starting at 6:28
hey you should make a instrumental mix. I love the music but its kinda hard to concentrate when hacking / studying.
Hi, this music without copyright? please
do I hear a bit of escape from New York in this?
Why are my eyes leaking?
Hey man, could you make a track like something in the style of Blade Runner ?
Some day, I'm working on more dreamy track right now :)
