Man.. what you've conveyed was what's needed in order to move forward in the right way,and how to keep moving without falling face first. Ignorance is deadly, blindness will cause a crash, and survival is serious in this market. Your content, character and commitment means a lot. You are that ( Locomotive ) Thank You Bro!
Love your videos and this was very helpful. Question, in the video you said if we need $7500 for vehicles we need to have $75000 in sales. You seem to see this as 10% of sales. You also used percentages for the office (10% of gross sales). What percentages do you feel are appropriate for the pay for those doing the work if you use hourly, not subcontractors?
Not enough time spent on the audits! Just went through my first audit dispute where they tried to reclassify ALL of our labor as a code with 3x premium. It’s important to understand what triggers them to do that, and how to avoid it. Also VERY important to understand what you’re paying for insurance and build that in to every job. Same goes for taxes and all overhead for that matter. Figure out the minimum you need to charge to stay in business and add what you want to make from there.
Hi I'm Ivan, I have watched some of your videos and I'm planing to start my own roofing business in spring. What are some things I can prepare for and be on top of it till then
Hey Dmitry, aren’t businesses supposed to pay taxes on a quarterly basis? I’m curious to know what causes a business to end up with a huge tax bill like that. Awesome video. I’ll be rewatching this one 👍
I work for a friend who has a small residential roofing company. How do we lower general liability insurance cost? There basing our cost on projected sales from the previous year's growth. We are on our 3rd year and practice many of your tips to be successful for the long term. Ty.
You can't reduce your insurance. You're paying for a product that you need. If you plan on staying the same size request an audit mid year. You're paying for coverage in a dollar amount of work.
Should talk about these roofing companies that don't pay their subs and use money from the business for their personal use and end up being broke. That pisses me off big time.
I have been in business for 6 yrs I haven't had a 100,000$ yr yet I use sub crew but am on site start to finish I just secured my crew it's been tuff but I have hung in and continue to get good reviews I'm just not making enough to invest back I know I need to advertise I have done flyers I'm on Google and Bing. My credit not so good. Bottom line I'm doing good work but I'm not being found enough.
