so nice to see another njrotc unit visiting parris island!! my school (eau claire high school in Columbia) visited in january and it was soooo intense. i literally could not wait to get home but at least we didn’t do push-ups. we also had the same DTI!! i will never forget him saying open your fat mouths lmaooo!! it was so intense i quite literally sprained my knee and couldn’t participate for the whole activities we did, but i was so scared to not participate that my instructors literally told me to stop because my knee was hurting too badly😭😭 but it was overall a great experience (aside from the other school i was with and the shower situation) my friends and i were able to laugh about it after we left !!
Hang on. I just saw this EVER for the 1st time right now. WHAT is a DTI? I earned the title at MCRD San Diego in 1999 K Co 3127 to be exact. We had DI's a have NEVER heard that there was a change. Please PLEASE pleeeeeez tell me they are still DI's and nothing else.
who was your Senior DI? because I was in Lima Company last Year PLT 3048 SDI Ssgt Martinez, EDI (Experienced Drill Instructor) Ssgt Kasahara, Knowledge Hat DI Ssgt Hur, and DI Ssgt Andia. And I know Ssgt Kasahara was a SDI believe it was his last cycle.
@@a_memester my SDI was SDI Kasahara, He was like a father to us for real, We even told him during platoon talks right before graduating that we always called him father and we used to be like “Yo dads here” and we would always try our best when he was around to impress him. Best time in my life for real.
@@a_memester Yeah it was his last cycle, we got him honor platoon and we beat Lima company record for final drill (iirc) I believe he’s the only SDI in Lima company to have all honor platoons or almost all honor platoons. He is on the island for another 6 months I believe as a swim instructor then he said he going back to fleet (I think he said Japan or somewhere where he will have more time with his wife and kids)
@@TylerJoshuaCarlock fuck yeah bro awesome shit Kasahara was defiantly a Good DI when I was there unfortunately, I got dropped from Lima Co for Stress fractures and picked back up and graduated with Hotel Company Dec 8, 2023. but arrived May 15th, 2023. Yeah, SSgt Kasahara was My drill hat or EDI, and I've talked to him a few times since graduation and he is from Georgia same State I'm from, but he made me laugh the day I got dropped to the medical platoon. Mind you I was in I wheelchair A.K.A Hotwheels. and Crutches A.K.A TICTICS. and he looked at me and saw me smiling and was like Recruit Erne why you laughing, and I responded with this recruits not laughing at anything sir well he responded with well ill give you something to laugh about ill put you on an incline in your hot wheels and make you burn rubber. and i kept smiling when he said that so he responded with okay ill push you down the stairs and lets see who is laughing then and after he said that shit I lost it shit was funny as fuck. but anyways did you happen to also have Ssgt Hur or Ssgt Andia? also Congratulations on Graduating recently Semper Fi -LCpl Erne
@@a_memester Experience Drill Instructor (EDI) is how this is written. Then use the once explained (term) from that point forward. MCRD Nov 1983. The CORRECT name is SSgt, not whatever you wrote; Sgt is E-5, SSgt is E-6. They EARNED the difference, so show the respect.
Hey - that's no joke. Really and truly. I have seen Highway Patrolmen with their smokie on and immediately felt orfices pucker and muscles tighten until I saw the rest of them walk out of the isle at a convenience store and recognized they were not DI's. I'd be beeen out of the corps for almost 15 years by then. As far as "the rest of my life" I think it's very safe to assume the reaction will always be the same. Semper Fi
As a VERY proud US Marine - I hated that any were made at first. I felt like they lifted the veil of secrecy and that would eliminate the fear anyone had and the Marine Corps would have it's ranks filled with terrible pieces of scum. (NOT the case. We really really do have a very amazing filter/weeding program.) I went to MCRD in 1995 and attended with very little idea what it was really going to be like. Full Metal Jacket was the ONLY film anyone could point me to in order to get any idea of what it could/would be like. I thought regardless of what anyone told me - that I was likely to be hit. Since I grew up in a VERY abusive home, I told mylself at least there was going to be a REASON/Benefit for me to being hit and was OK with it. I was scared to death though. I didn't know how far it could go. The things my mother and stepfather had done to me were out of this world sometimes - my mother was the most sadistic with what she's do to me and I didn't think I'd be eating bars of LAVA handsoap, or gargling DAWN dishsoap or any of those things but I was terrified how many times they could/would hit me. NOT ONCE. Thank God. Now, I miss my Corps more than ever and I watch or listen to these videos all the time. Maybe because they remind me of my youth, but they also assure me that when I'm gone, the Marines who protect my country while I'm guarding Heaven will be as good as I was. If you think there are too many - don't watch. Simple as that. It's no skin off your potato how many there are made does it?
