Yes, that's the kind of healing the verse is mainly talking about. Healing or restoration of the broken relationship between God and elect sinners.

Btw there's no reason to have any healing WHEN we go to heaven, because then nobody will ever get sick or any disease. While we are on this earth we will suffer tribulations and afflictions. BUT
Our Lord Jesus Christ took the pain of the scourging and was beaten, mocked, reviled and then finally nailed to the cross.
SO that, we could have healing even while we're on this Earth.
Exodus 15:26 - And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the Lord that healeth thee.
Christ Jesus has bought healing for us and it's available to the children of God and to the Lord's church.
It's upto us whether we want healing or not, because God has granted Healing to all people.

The charismatic word and faith movement has been one of the greatest plagues on Christianity and the word of God. There's nothing anywhere in the Bible that says we should never be sick or have financial problems. That just having faith or speaking health and wealth into existence is even possible to avoid those things as a general rule.
Instead the Lord said, "I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
I'll take the Lord's word for it.

Amen. The WoF/NAR movement teaches that we are all "little gods" who can bring things into existence by our words just like God can. This is heresy. Note how their whole claim to health and wealth is intended to draw people by what they say "you can get" vs. coming to know the Lord. It's robbery. They replace the great treasure of knowing God Himself with a fleeting (false) promise of temporary physical pleasures. I have friends and family who are caught up in that garbage and it really breaks my heart. I'm praying they will watch _American Gospel_ which is now on Netflix.

Psalm 103 declares the the benefits of God Almighty provided for His people through Jesus Christ. He pardons our inquity. He heals our diseases. He delivers our soul from destruction and calamity. He crowns our heads with loving kindness and tender mercies. And He fills our mouths with good things so that our youth is renewed like the eagles. All of these benefits are only realized after we leave this cursed planet? The scripture doesn’t read that way consistently cover to cover.

Matthew chapter 8 uses this scripture in the context of physical healing. That healing occurred in the present. Just because Jesus is our sin sacrifice does not imply we will never sin. Just because Jesus is our healer does not imply we will never get sick.

"What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else? Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one - for God himself has given us right standing with himself. Who then will condemn us? No one-for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us.
Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”) No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.
And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow - not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below - indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord."
    (Romans 8: 31- 39) NLT
    Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I thank you for your Word and promise that you have overcome any temptation I may be facing. I rely on your help, love, joy, mercy and grace every day of my life. Always remind me, to turn to you first to help me, no matter what the challenge is. Nothing can separate us from Your love. With you, Lord Jesus, I am always on the winning team. Thank you.
In your Holy Name, I pray,
    Amen.

Then why did Jesus heal so many while he was alive on the earth as well as raise some from the dead? He also said greater things would we do than he had done. I don't think it is an either or issue. I think it is a matter of #Fullness of the gospel.

I also know God has healed me many times and has always protected me from situations too . He says "WHEN" the healing takes place is a topic of great debate. That's true. But not as far as the Bible goes. Peter put it in the past tense in 1Pt 2:24 and Isaiah put it in the present tense. Neither put it in the future. Folks are free to believe and debate whatever they like, obviously. But the Bible says what it says.

    • @auntiemsplace
      @auntiemsplace 3 роки тому +1

Isaiah used present tense, but Jesus hadn't come to earth as a man, nor did He suffer stripes - yet.
In Peter we see that he is speaking after the stripes had been applied to the Savior, hence the use of past tense.

the language of sickness and healing is very peculiar in Isaiah and it's almost exclusively metaphorical referring to spiritual sickness of Israel's disobedience (ch. 1,2, etc). Charismatics illegitimately hijack not even the word by the theme and put into Isaiah's mouth words he never meant.

  • @tomw6271

I comment on Ligonier because I appreciate that the Reformed crowd is the most biblically honest of all. However, even Calvinism often stops short and usually gives up something to human decision. When this happens I get very frustrated because either God is sovereign or not. Either God has determined the end from the beginning or He is not God. Since He must be God, He has determined the end from the beginning. The elect will not speak of the truth that God, who needs nothing in order to live, wanted to make most people just to send them to hell. No one asked to be born in sin before God made them, yet He made us that way. He must want to send people to hell or He wouldn't.

Tom, it sounds like you have come across what is called "hyperCalvinism." Calvinism is " 5 point.......doctrines of grace." That's not Reformed doctrine. Calvinism is like driving on the entrance of the freeway. Reformed theology is driving on the freeway. I would suggest you do a search for Charles H. Spurgeon's writings on God's sovereignty and human responsibility not being contradictory.
