My wife and I love living in Hua Hin. We have all the comforts without the hassles of Bangkok. Great people, beaches, golf, restaurants, markets, malls and movie theaters. We moved from America when I retired so my wife of 15 years could be close to her family for a while. We didn’t intend to give up anything in terms of comfort or luxuries moving here and we certainly haven’t had to in Hua Hin. The water here is great so come on in! You’d be welcome here!

Love the laid-back atmosphere in HH. Live 6 km from center, here we find quied, fresh air and comfort, but only 10 minutes to center and beach. Many nearby places, nationalparks and so to visit. Have not been in Chiang Mai but plan to visot for a couples of weeks.

We currently live in Hua Hin, but are moving to Chiang Mai in 3-4 weeks. It's a nice place, but it is a little bit of a retirement village. A nice beachside town if you are looking for a pretty quiet life, but it is pretty limited on what there is to do here though.

There is no doubt that Hua Hin is a retirement town for old farangs. But, close to Hua Hin are many attractions. Kaeng Krachan National Park, the largest national park in Thailand. Kui Buri National Park for elephant sighting. Beautiful beaches to the south of Hua Hin...Ao Manao at Prachuap, Baan Krut south of Prachuap, and many more. Also, Cha Am just north of HH, for those that prefer a more "Thai" holiday place.

I think the beauty of the north is unbeatable. The only plus of the south is the sea and beaches. Even if you like that, Hua Hin would have a very low place on my list. I'd advise the unpopulated islands. I stayed 2 weeks on Koh Chang last time. It was like a dream. But again, north is the most beautiful part of Thailand for me.

Amazing views of Hua Hin there and a bit more relaxed than other bigger cities which explains why it is so popular for retirees. Hua Hin is not for everyone, but if you like a more quiet regular life near the ocean, and especially if your a golfer then it's a no-brainer. They plan to add international flights from the Hua Hin airport to Malaysia, Singapore, China, India, and a few others which will help the Hua Hin economy. Also, the dual track train to Bangkok is going to be a big bonus as well. The Kings palace and big military presence means Hua Hin will not turn in to a tourist party town as well.

Maybe have 2 homes. C.M. and H. H. The cliimate can decide. Even Pattaya and its area is interesting. Some vds. show why families live there. Many non bar sites and things to do. One vd. had 12 things for families to do. We all have opinions on places we haven't been to. One guy was there for 3 days and had a bad experience. Probably the bars. He said dont go there. But knocking a place without seeing it is like discussing a book that justt one person has read. Some expats like south of the city like Jomtien. But iI think I would prefer H.H. Patong Bangla road is pretty hectic but I Can cope with it . Pattaya was way over the top.just don’t need all that traffic and bars . The sea water is also cleaner in Patong and Karon . We are both from southern England and I guess appreciate similar values.Hua hin looks pretty good too.

Hi Wayne, I'm not sure if you're in the retirement category yet for Hua Hin. It's just another fabulous place to see in Thailand. I'm sure there are many, many more to check out. Don't retire just yet.....

Hua Hin is supposed to be kept secret lest it be despoiled by tourists.

If you can't afford to walk away from a Tenner to get a better night's sleep, You are too broke to be retired.
Normally I like and get along well with poms. If you are going to be a negative wingher you're not going to be happy whatever you are. Move on don't spoil the location for us.

Nice! I was a massive Bulls fan growing up, that 90s Bulls team was iconic all around the world. I love American sports. I love NFL also, it's on my list to watch a NBA or NFL game one day, maybe in London. We've had a few games at Wembley in London. I recall the Raiders played in London before . 👍
