Before it was released the car was photographed being tested alongside a Porsche but I never thought they went as far as Lamborghini, Ferrari, and McLaren. They really put it in a lot of thought process in making the C8.
I agree! The sun on it is definitely appealing! Its not as bold as say..... Torch red or Rapid Blue but more of a classy color IMO. This is the color I first chose when I built mine online. Great video showing off the Zeus Bronze. That’s the first time I’ve seen it with some sun hitting it. Getting more of the interior would have been nice. There isn’t a lot of footage of the suede interiors.

Ever since 2015 Ford has made garbage of the mustangs. The Camaros since then have been amazing. Nothing by Ford to compete with this car. This Corvette has made me a believer. I'm a Ford guy but this car is immaculate. Chevy wasn't playing games. I love it.

The C8 is beautiful. Love the DCT,....It is essentially a manual geared transmission with an automated dual clutch (no clutch pedal) and fly by wire shifting. These transmissions are a masterpiece. The engine is finally where it belongs.....in the middle. Now I can't wait to see what the pros can do with it. Bring on the Stig.
Big fan of DCT transmission missions after owning and actually driving one. Just assuming it is like any other auto is a mistake! Thanks for the comment.
@@PerformanceOnWheels Yep. DCT's do not have torque converters. clutch packs, planetary gears, sprags, etc... DCT's are more durable and efficient than torque converter automatics.
After flipping a GT-R recently I was made aware of the extra labor involved in simple maintenance. I know obviously there are larger performance benefits to this....... The price of your non-DIY oil change just went up.

Gorgeous colour combo. This Corvette supercar ticks all the boxes...i wouldnt have any other car at the moment. Embarrasses rip off ferrari porsches lambo and mclaren. Why pay 2 or 3 times the price for the same or worse performance? This interior is better than the new porsche cayman & boxster. It makes them look dull & even dated. Better than a trerrible ford gt interior ($500,000 dont laugh). Nicer than a mclaren interior. More luggage space and better front design than other supercars. Air intake/door handle design masterstroke. I'd take red on red or blue. Options also are incredible on this base model. Its as fast as a C7 ZR1...wow. just wait for the Z06 and ZR1 they will embarrass the lambo ferrari mclaren and porsche...even on this entry level for the price...they have just left the room with red faces. Time to get real..say about $78,000 tops to fully option this C8 out..drive it enjoy it show it off, love it and save from $40,000 to $100,000 ..GM changed supercars with this one. One final word.. dont give me exclusivity...who cares...i want to be part of a good thing...or wait for a ZR1 then you can really show off..haaa.
Looks wise, new C8 is better than other exotics except some of the older Lambos (Diablo, Huracon Marcelago...) but quality wise, we’ll need to see how well materials hold up. If the new C8 is built like older Vettes, poor quality materials & everything rattles....that’s the reason true xotic super cars costs 3-5x as much

Why don't you wait until people have given it a good test first before putting it on a pedestal... the only thing you can brag or boast about is the price at this moment in time, the look of the car is practically the same as all other mid engineered sports cars with subtle differences which make all Ferrari's,Mclarens,Porshes and lambo's along with the new Corvette look slightly different, also beauty is different to most people. However when it comes to performance I think all you people who are singing this new C8 as a car that's on parr with Europes best bespoke car manufacturers will be brought down a peg or 3... here's why!! Weight..... there is a reason the European cars cost more and that's because exotic weight saving materials and their processes and labour costs money!! Eventually you will get a C8 that's been given the whole hogg of materials but that car will be well over $150,000 mark by the time they have finished upgrading it to compete with Europes best!! So it doesn't matter how many Mclarens, Ferraris ect GM tried to reverse engineer if they ain't going to spend the money on the more expensive carbon fibre part and just use plastic/aluminium or steel, it will all add up to a heavier car and as mclaren has shown over these past 10 years it's all about power to weight with aerodynamics, all 3 have to work together, so GM trying to copy europes best mid engineered cars was a good idea especially as it's their first attempt at mid engined but if you think they have managed to find something special that the other companies don't know and they have managed to build a good car using cheaper materials but having the same properties as expensive materials your having a laugh. This base price C8 of about $60/80 grand will be under powered and over weight, it will just make a cheap comfortable GT car and nothing else, once they start spending money on it to save weight with more exotic materials and give it more power then it might be a decent sports car but I doubt very very much that it's going to embarrass Europes bespoke manufacturers!! Unless it's stripped down and rebuilt using all the best materials that come standard on Europes cars it's not got a chance, but once that's been done it's going to cost the same as Europes best so what's the point!! GM's most attractive point to 90% of buyers is it's cheap and it looks good, for 90% of people who buy any high performance sports car they don't come close to using that performance and power in real life ever so that's when it works buying a cheap car on just its looks, it's the delusional ones that buy them then think they have got a high performance car for $60 then Bragg about how much it's better than a Ferrari,McLaren ect until the videos on UA-cam come out!! I can't wait for all there bubbles to burst and the excuses come crying out!!!! It's going to be hilarious

You guys are doing a great job detailing technical aspects of the car that others reviewers missed. Ask the engineers about the brakes, The C7 Z51 and performance models used slotted rotors. I see the C8 base and Z51 models are using standard rotors. Why the change? One more question that they may not be prepared to answer is the engine for the European market. I understand that 6.2 liter engines are now banned in that market. Will the Euros get a detuned version of the Cadillac Black Wing 4.2 liter twin-turbo?

I would only assume we will see carbon cermaics when we get to see the Z06 and Zr1!!!! Regardless, Corvette has a reputation regardless of the trim to have insane braking power. I am fully expecting to see that continued in this new generation.

I have a question, i haven't seen covered yet. Is the body still fiberglass. I know the rear deck lid is from the Jay Leno video. But what about the rest of the body panels is it all fiberglass? Good Video by the way along with the full coverage of the blue one in the parking area.
I have not heard and could not find definitive answers. I have heard comments like ultra light weight compounds mixed with carbon fiber. We know the main structure of the car is aluminum, with even some carbon fiber floor panels. It was noted that the almost all of the cars rigidity is from the Aluminum frame, not needing rigid heavy panels as it is all in that frame mass. I don't want to sign on the dotted line but it is possible there is no steel or very very little steel on this car. I will be curious to see its weigh in numbers. Thank you for watching!!!!!!!!

What I don't know for sure if this is on the base as well or if this is a option that is added with the Z51. Visually the base and Z51 look to have similar rear brakes in the examples we saw. So I would only assume the venting will be on all models.

Not a fan of a he front hood as is very short and not as good as the C7. The rear end looks like a Camaro and spoiler same color as car. Sides are nice and interior really nice.
I never was a fan of corvette, always said I’d get a camaro over a corvette any day. This C8 changed that lol. My only concern is when it rains will it soak into the engine bay.
I was always hesitant about the Corvette because of its interior (Camaro included) The C8's interior is worlds apart from anything Chevy has put out. I am very excited to drive this car. I hope the hype continues! Thank you for watching and commenting. Please subscribe!
As far as the water in the engine bay. I don't see that as a concern. We do have another video of the road warrior test mule. It was not all cleaned up yet the engine bay was still very clean. Check it out.
You think GM is the only car company taking apart competitors vehicles? Every company does it, including Ferrari, Lamborghini, Chrysler and Ford. It’s top secret. They purchase them and put them in trucks so the public doesn’t see them being transported and going into the company that is taking them aparts labs.
Say what you want: Foreign cars make American cars better because foreign cars force American cars to up their game or lose market share. In this case, the Corvette C8 had to up its game against the likes of Ferrari, Lamborghini, and the like. Preliminary indications say that Chevrolet has....
It is not a wow color by any means. More of a classy color in my opinion. I think it is a color that needs to be accompanied by the correct wheels... Window tint.
@@Sigrafix I think that interior has another level of class. The color might not be spot on, I did think it looked good in person. I feel like this is a direct copy cat to a Porsche interior, both material/textures and color.
LOL I just had this same conversation with someone else. I would agreed 5 years ago. With supercar performance I fully believe a dual clutch transmission will offer a different kind of thrill but equal to slapping your own gears. If you have not driven a dual clutch aggressively. Considering that less people bought the last Corvette in manual than before, it would have been bad to have to add that to R&D for almost no benefit to the long term at all. This is a business after all, have to respect that it couldn't be done and they put in a DCT which is faster than any human can shift. Don't see the problem other than, familiarity of having a manual as in performance you're not out shifting DCT even on your best day.

It isn’t all weight distribution. That helps a lot but the DCT transmission and the new tires help a lot as well.

I have a question, i haven't seen covered yet. Is the body still fiberglass. I know the rear deck lid is from the Jay Leno video. But what about the rest of the body panels is it all fiberglass? Good Video by the way along with the full coverage of the blue one in the parking area.
I have not heard and could not find definitive answers. I have heard comments like ultra light weight compounds mixed with carbon fiber. We know the main structure of the car is aluminum, with even some carbon fiber floor panels. It was noted that the almost all of the cars rigidity is from the Aluminum frame, not needing rigid heavy panels as it is all in that frame mass. I don't want to sign on the dotted line but it is possible there is no steel or very very little steel on this car. I will be curious to see its weigh in numbers. Thank you for watching!!!!!!!!

Make sure you check out our other C8 video as well. Like and subscribe and look for out review specific to the Rapid Blue C8. Good EYE! Certainly the way I took it. What I don't know for sure if this is on the base as well or if this is a option that is added with the Z51. Visually the base and Z51 look to have similar rear brakes in the examples we saw. So I would only assume the venting will be on all models.
Will the convertible come with the clear engine panel like the coupe?

Not a fan of a he front hood as is very short and not as good as the C7. The rear end looks like a Camaro and spoiler same color as car. Sides are nice and interior really nice.

I never was a fan of corvette, always said I’d get a camaro over a corvette any day. This C8 changed that lol. My only concern is when it rains will it soak into the engine bay.

As far as the water in the engine bay. I don't see that as a concern. We do have another video of the road warrior test mule. It was not all cleaned up yet the engine bay was still very clean. Check it out.
You think GM is the only car company taking apart competitors vehicles? Every company does it, including Ferrari, Lamborghini, Chrysler and Ford. It’s top secret. They purchase them and put them in trucks so the public doesn’t see them being transported and going into the company that is taking them aparts labs.

Whoever specced this car at GM needs to be fired.. that color combo is hideous, I can't believe people in the comments think it looks good..
It is not a wow color by any means. More of a classy color in my opinion. I think it is a color that needs to be accompanied by the correct wheels... Window tint.

@@Sigrafix I think that interior has another level of class. The color might not be spot on, I did think it looked good in person. I feel like this is a direct copy cat to a Porsche interior, both material/textures and color.

Not respecting long-standing Loyal Corvette owners by failing to offer a Manual Transmission is totally uncalled for and too disappointing!
LOL I just had this same conversation with someone else. I would agreed 5 years ago. With supercar performance I fully believe a dual clutch transmission will offer a different kind of thrill but equal to slapping your own gears. If you have not driven a dual clutch aggressively. Considering that less people bought the last Corvette in manual than before, it would have been bad to have to add that to R&D for almost no benefit to the long term at all. This is a business after all, have to respect that it couldn't be done and they put in a DCT which is faster than any human can shift. Don't see the problem other than, familiarity of having a manual as in performance you're not out shifting DCT even on your best day.
