I had an opportunity for british f4 last year, a sim racing competition, time trial, top 20 race in a championship, top 2 get the seats, i say top 2, it was actually top boy and top girl, so as a male i had to come first in this championship, time trial happens, i get 15th or something, its enough, im in. I have a zoom call with rokit, and they say sorry, you're older than 16 we cant let you compete. Life changing opportunity taken, but there will always be another competition.
That’s a kick in the shorts JM, but I like your attitude. You have speed so enter as many competitions and online races as you can. You will get many more shots. Keep us up to date with things 💪
Hello Enzo! I'm coming at this from a bit of an different extreme. I'm 62 years old and I've avoided pursuing my passion for racing my whole life. I understand that my opportunities in racing are small, but I am not going to my grave not having gone for it. So I'll keep learning from your videos and doing everything in my power to reach my goal of competing behind the wheel as long as I possibly can. I'll keep you posted on my progress. Thanks for your books, videos and podcasts! Chuck
I was at the 8hr GT world challenge race in Indianapolis this passed weekend. I asked almost every pro driver there. With my age of 26 (i know we already said forget age). What is the best route i can take to get where they are at. I knew at a young age (8yrs old) that i was already too old to get into F1. But every single driver there, even ones younger than myself, all said the same thing. They all said that i was in my prime if i wanted to get into GT endurance racing. As you mentioned in this video. They all mentioned that if i have the speed and money, can't forget to mention the drive and ambition to go far, then i can very easily go out and make a name for myself. I know i have the speed. About every go kart track i go to i usually come within a 1 to 2 seconds of the records for that particular kart at the track. Just a few weeks ago i was at Go Pro Motorplex and was running some karts there for fun with coworkers. Will Power, who mind you had won the IndyCar championship the weekend prior, was there. I had asked him if he would be willing to let me race against him. He happily said yes and we took to the track. It took a few laps for me to figure out his racing line and where he would brake at. But once i did i braked much later than him and managed to get passed him. After that i went on the defense of my position and managed to keep him behind me the rest of the race. We had a nice little chat after the race and he told me if i wasn't already racing now. That i seriously need to get on a track soon. Because with how quickly i figured out his rhythm of driving and took advantage of his mistakes. I already had a good idea of how to properly race. All i needed is a good mentor and proper training and i will go far. Hearing those words from his mouth gave me the biggest confidence boost that i dearly needed to reignite my passion for wanting to race again. So thank you for this video! Hopefully i can go out, get some sponsors and make my dreams come true!
Good to hear how much you are searching for answers. And yea, GT racing is a great path to go, once you get a good name and get the attention of manufacturers then you can end up in any championship with them. Age is not a problem as long as speed and attitude is good.
Rn i ran my first tournament, didn’t go very well but im improving. Now I’ve planed to move to iracing and keep pushing in rental karts. Also also i think my weakness is that i dont really understand the feeling of a car but i can understand it better in a simulator .
Thanks alot for this vid man! Im 17 soon 18 and have not really known to go for it in karting and go for a racing career but now i Will! I have been on the Edge of getting in to karting but never had the guts to so because of my age, but next year I will definitely do it and try to make a career of racing! Thank you!
That’s great mate. Remember that you don’t want to get to the end of your life and look back with regret because your younger self held back. You will kick yourself. No regrets
Thank you for this post. Couldn't have been a better time for the inspiration as my brother (29) and I (23) have started a mini stock team. 2021 was my first time ever on the track after years of dreams. Got here through watching sponsorship videos. Perhaps, in the future you could talk about.small team ownership of you have knowledge of that. Thanks
It’s relieving to hear that age is an excuse and not a thing that holds you up for racing. Jann mardenborough started racing at 19 just by winning a gran turismo academy championship
I just turned 14 and found out that i just love racing. I got a wheel 3 months ago and started with sim racing and i really love it + would love to do it in Real Life. The only big problem is the money. Me and my family dont have milions of dollars to be racing but still i want to find a way to still be racing irl
Was going to attempt to qualify in the top split for Formula Challenge which is official rFactor 2 but sadly it’s on a Monday in the middle of GCSEs. Still working towards FSR world championship pace. It’ll be tough against redbull and Williams esports drivers but I’m not going to miss out on that challenge
i got a dream about becomoming a motorsport driver i live in world 3 country in africa i dont know what i need to do i am 18 yo i dont know what to do still stuck with a big dream
This is a little out of topic but I’m 17 yrs I love racing karts and sometimes on the sim but I can’t seem to love sim racing as much as karting in real life. Most of the time I get bored an frustrated because I feel I’m not as good as if I race in person. I really can’t focus it’s not as fun to me but I really can’t compare it to driving a race car I never driven one, Iwant to have a career in Motorsport is this a problem for me if I really want to get good at the craft and have a successful career in Motorsport ?
Many race drivers are not fans of simulators and don’t use them. Kimi Raikkonen being one of them. Simulators are a good tool to use to learn the tracks you are racing at and as prep. It’s not vital that you enjoy it or use them so don’t worry. It’s not too much of a problem. Professional race teams will want you to use their sim before each race so make sure that you can at least drive on one for prep reasons.
I would take karting over sim racing anyday, I do however put many hours into the sim and the enjoyment i get out of it depends heavily on the game, acc for example i get almost no pleasure out of playing, the cars feel heavy its hard to know what the car is doing and it generally feel unintuitive, the original asseto corsa however i can drive around aimlessly for hours, it just feels great to drive, my advice would be to force yourself to join a league, that way you in a competitive environment where you will need to practise and if u stick with it for a couple of weeks i think you'll find the joy. I am in a league on acc that i love driving in simply because of the competition
@@EnzoMucci a few years ago same happening to me once I purchased a car and went to a few autocross events. I fell out of love from simulators quickly, I had though it was the inexpensive equipment I was using... I was wrong.
