My husband and I also is the same products for face and hair. It feels good to be close enough to share products and be in the same headspace. I need to cull my cupboard some day soon. I am doing the minimalists monthly challenge so that is where I will go next!
Hi. Thank you for the tour. I really liked to see a bathroom that is not filled with clutter :) Since me and my boyfriend moved I have tried to get rid of a lot of things that I didn´t use. And it is a big difference now :) Thank you for a lovely bunch of inspiration!
Thank you for sharing! My bathroom has been the hardest place to find balance in my de-owning. It's great to see your example. Please keep us updated on your razor, I have been thinking of switching and would love to hear your thoughts.
very interesting tour! I love the fact that you and your husband are sharing products as much as you can... it prevents from having too much stuff laying around and from wasting money in unnecessary things.. well done!! :)
Your bathroom is like my dream bathroom. I'm so jealous that you have one of those floating toilets!!! What brand are the toothbrushes? Please keep us updated about the safety razor--I'm looking to switch as well :)
yes to the recipe for deodorant please! great video I aspire to get down to so few products in my bathroom, but mine is also the location for all family supplies, medications etc. This video definitely challenged me to rethink what is mine. We have had unseasonably warm weather, but once it cools off I will send you an update for my new 10 item capsule for the fall :)
I use the old fashioned safety razor and shaving creme with a brush. It`s great to see that someone else uses one because so few men do. After years of using the disposable razors the safety razor does take a little getting used to. You don`t have to apply any pressure otherwise they can cut. I got one months ago and would never go back to using the more "modern" razors. And the packets of raxzor blades are so incredibly cheap also. Your bathroom is beautiful.
They seem like a really great option! It's a little intimidating but I think it will be a good switch, definitely cheaper and more eco-friendly than plastic disposables. :)
Bathroom inspiration! Still working on simplifying my bathroom and finding the best cleaning routine. Do you have habits and routines for keeping the bathroom clean that you could share?
Lovely! I am working on de-cluttering my bathroom, so far it's going well and I am almost done paring things down. I love using oil as a moisturizer as well, it makes a great cleanser and makeup remover with a microfiber cloth. I found that I really don't use hair products apart from Argan oil and lavender on my hair.
Love it :) I really need to downsize my haircare products but I keep promising myself once I grow my natural hair out it will be so much easier to manage the texture with less products... but atleast I got to declutter all the hair dying lotions and potions for now!
I really enjoyed your bathroom tour. I am just about to do another bathroom declutter before I move so this has inspired me to start! Ive made a note of that sunscreen to try next summer as I am fed up of all the nasties in conventional sunscreen. I also want to try a more natural toothbrush. Where did you get yours from? Thank you!
Thank you!! I actually found the toothbrush at our local organic grocery store, it's by a brand called yaweco. Best wishes with your bathroom declutter and move! :)
I love your bathroom! I'm slowly trying to pair down our bathroom items, but my husband has really bad dandruff that only seems to stay at bay when he uses Head and Shoulders (I've tried switching him to a natural version at least a dozen times with no success so far) and I am sensitive to sulfates so I have to use something else. We do share body wash and face wash though so that has helped cut down on items and cost. How does the safety razor work with leg and underarm hair? Do you find you get just as close a shave as with the disposable razors? Thank you as always for sharing! Seeing a new video from you in my feed always makes me smile!
Thanks! I haven't switched to the safety razor yet, but I'll let you know how it goes! Apparently it takes a bit of time to get used to but then it's easy and you can use it everywhere. I've also read that you actually get a closer shave with it and less irritation. :)
very inspiring. I think you will love the safety razor when you make the switch. It required me to spend a bit more time at first, but now it is as easy as a disposable razor for me. I didn't see any conditioner, what do you use to condition or keep your hair soft?
That's really good to hear! I'm excited to try it out :) I use the argan oil as a leave in conditioner/ pre-washing oil treatment and have found that works really well for my hair.
Very inspiring... I seriously love your videos. People tree looks like an amazing company, thank you for introducing me. and I love your style- I do question the necessity for an eyelash curler having never owned one- however, I'm pretty sure me and my ten different colors of nail polish shouldn't throw stones :)
I usually wear it in just a loose bun, but if I'm planning to wear it down I'll twist the sides back and do a tight bun when it's almost dry and that gives me some pretty good soft waves.
Wow, I wish my bathroom would look like this :) So clean and simple. Where did you get the organic cotton towels? I've been searching for towels that aren't that fluffy for travelling so long.
I got them from a German store called Grüne Erde. I'm not sure if that style of towel has a name, these were the first I've ever seen that are fluffy on only one side.
Such a beautiful bathroom, especially for a rental apartment! I really want to get a safely razor also, does your husband find it more difficult to use? Nick and I share products too, it's so nice to simplify :)
Thanks!! Ben said it took a bit of adjusting and that you just have to go slow as you get used to it but that it's easy to learn to use. :) I think it will be nice to switch to - so much cheaper and less waste! Plus apparently they give you a better shave and less irritation, although it does look kinda intimidating haha
I've recently started to clutter my bathroom... I also used to have way too many products I never used! So thank you for the inspiration :) Do you not need to use conditioner in your hair? I currently use a shampoo bar from Lush which has been great for cutting down how frequently I have to wash my hair (up to day 9 now), but conditioner is one product I just cannot seem to go without. Have tried solid (packaging free) conditioner bars, but they really didn't work for me. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks :)
Hi, just wanted to say that I really enjoyed your video. Also, do you know about reusable menstrual products? I haven't heard you talk about them but I may have missed it if you did. They're a great sustainable option for a lot of people =)
Thanks! I'm really interested in reusable menstrual products but don't have a lot of experience with them. I would love to try a menstrual cup but I have an IUD and have read mixed things about using a cup with it, so I'm kinda scared to try it.
+My Green Closet I have an IUD as well and use a cup, so far not a problem at all and my doctor said that they go together perfectly ;) At first I was scared as well, but think about it, you don´t just pull a menstrual cup out, but release the vacuum before you pull, so that it´s then the same as pulling out a tampon. But I understand if you are afraid, this is just my experience and I love my cup so much that I don´t want to be without it ever again.
watching this again for inspiration :) still loving the diy deodorant!! what toothbrush is that? where do you buy it? did you end up finding a safety razor? how did you find it? it sounds scary :) lastly, do you use menstrual cup? I love mine!
Yay! I'm so happy you're still loving the deodorant! I do not recommend that toothbrush - after using it for a bit the bristles started coming out when I would brush my teeth :( I have a safety razor, although I still need to practice using it. My husband found me one at an antique store but I'm sure you can find them fairly easily online as well. I think I'll make a video about it once I get better at using it. :) I don't have a menstrual cup, I would love to try one but unfortunately I've read they can sometimes cause problems with an IUD which is what I use for birth control.
Hey :) Do you recommend a different toothbrush? Ohhh exciting news about safety razor video. Your content is always SO useful and creative!! I read if you check the string and be sure to break suction carefully, it is very very rare. But understand your concern :)
I love how simple and spa-like it looks. Funny that a non-minimalist would have spent the entire video complaining how they needed *more* storage space. What brand of wooden hairbrush do you have?
Love to see some German Bio products! Germany has such a big Bio market and all the vegan food!!! Miss it so much! I'm assuming you moved there for a job? I followed my husband to the States 4 years ago.
They do! It's fun to discover new brands and products :) We moved here on a bit of a whim actually, originally I was thinking of going to school here, I decided not to but we wanted to move anyway. Then my husband got a job in Cologne so that's where we currently are!
I currently moved with my boyfriend together and it seems like our bathroom is just exploding from products, even though I do not use much stuff. I really like the towels, where did you buy them? :) we have way to many towels and I would like to give some away to purchase new ones, that are more Eco-friendly. Thanks for the bathroom tour!
My Green Closet awesome, I'm from Germany, so that's why I asked :D ***** I already use oils, but I tried many different ones and have them stored now at home. Using them up needs more time than buying them^^ But thanks for the comment anyway :)
+CiaSmi Mmh but why do you want to buy new towels if you already have way too many? that is the least eco-friendly thing you could do, even if the new towels are without chemicals. As you have already washed your old towels a lot, they will also be fine now, and the damage is already done! Please consider that before buying new ones.
DestinyOfPig I already did consider that as I said give them away, not throw them away. I live in Germany and we have a lot of refugees here, and there are even more on the way. They all need towels, kitchen stuff and so on, because they have nothing when they arrive here. I wanted to donate the towels, a win-win for everyone here in my opinion. And not everything I do has to be the most eco-friendly possibility. I try, but I don't have to be perfect.
Great tour - I try to keep the bathroom minimalist but it's not always easy when you share. Your toothbrush - "natural bristles" - do you mean from an animal or plant-based?
Hm good question. I assume it's a plant-based bristle but I actually don't know for sure (I never thought that there might be animal hair toothbrushes :( and my German is not very good to read the package properly). I'll definitely have to look into it, I really hope it's plant-based and not animal...
I unfortunately don't have any great methods. I usually just twist my hair back and do a tight bun when it's close to dry and that gives me some loose curls. I want to experiment with some different things though and if I find a few good ones I'll definitely do a video about it. :)
You´re wrong, this IS an interesting bathroom tour! Love that you get along with such few products :) I have to say that I own a few more, for skincare I own two cleansers (one that I use everyday and the other one about two times a week for removing makeup), a hydrosoul, jojoba oil and a serum for acne. I also have two face masks, the antipodes manuka honey mask and a clay one. I have two different shampoos and a conditioner and hair mask as well as a styling product. Do you get away without using conditioner? Then I always have a few bodywahes because my grandma always gives some natural ones to me and I´m never fast enough with using them up. I also have a bodylotion and deodorant ( I use "Ponyhütchen" or "Wolkenseifen") and I also use eco cosmetics sunscreen when needed. So happy to see that you use and like it as well, the company is located only 5 minutes away from where I live (Lavera is very close to me as well) :) For toothpaste I really like Lavera, Sante and Logodent. Oh and I wanted to update you that I will start working at this little fair trade/organic concept store in my city next month! I am so excited about that :) Hope you are well!
Thank you! :) I use the argan oil as a leave-in conditioner/treatment and it works really well for my hair so I found I don't need a conditioner. That's really cool that Eco Cosmetics and Lavera are near you! Congrats on getting a job with that store! That's super exciting!! I hope it goes really well and would love to hear about your experience and if there's any interesting brands or products you discover working there :)
Yup Germany, in Cologne :) I haven't switched to the safety razor yet, but there seems to be quite a few questions and interest in it so I might do a video about it after I've used one for a bit.
I will admit, toothpaste is the one thing I am afraid of switching from the big store brand products with, and its because I've never had a cavity ever and I'm afraid to change it up and either strip enamel with some of the homemade ones, or maybe the chemical compounds are keeping them at bay, I don't know. It might be me being strange and superstitious, but I don't want to mess with the system I've got going if it seems to be working.
Would you make video about oils generally? What are your favorites, what you use them for, how do you combine them etc. I know that yo do mention about oils here and there but maybe you could gather all information in one video? :)
I don't really have a proper recipe I just sort of eyeball it, but mines roughly 3 parts coconut oil, 1-2 parts shea butter, 1-2 parts baking soda (I generally use less than most DIY recipes I've seen and haven't have any problems), mix it all together and add 2+ parts arrowroot depending how thick you want it (I'll usually just add arrowroot until it's the consistency I like). Also you can add some essential oils if you want a scent. I find it's a really flexible recipe though and you can experiment with it. Add more coconut oil if it seems too thick, more baking soda if you'd like more odor protection, and more arrowroot if you want more of a paste (it depends a lot on how hot it is where you live and if your coconut oil is usually hard or a liquid). If you'd like a more specific recipe there are lots online for DIY deodorants that use these ingredients. Here's one that's kinda close to what I do but uses more baking soda and cornstarch instead of arrowroot: www.treehugger.com/organic-beauty/recipe-homemade-deodorant-really-works.html
Great video as always! I never really thought about buying a safety razor! Sounds interesting and amazing! Something for me to look into ;) I have been going through my toiletries over the past week and couldn't believe how much I had accumulated. My mum always gave me a bag full of the things she doesn't use when i would go visit her. Most of it I never used or would use as I'm determined to choose all non-toxic, natural choices for everything I can once I run out of what I'm currently using. Thanks for sharing your deodorant recipe below! Do you find it's very good at keeping odor at bay? I've tried about ten different natural deodorants and always have to reapply midday or evening. I have wanted to like natural deodorants, but honestly can't be asked to reapply ;) I haven't tried my hand at making my own, but if you think it works better, I'll give it a go :)
I've found this deodorant works better than any natural store bought ones I've tried, my husband is even a fan of it and he hated natural deodorants. It can take some adjusting to find a recipe/ratio that you like though. If you find you want more odor protection it's easy to add some more baking soda. I'd recommend for the first time to just do a small batch, test it out, see if you like it and tweak it if you need to. Also if you want to keep it very simple you can skip the shea butter (it's not necessary) and just use coconut oil, baking soda, and arrowroot/cornstarch, ingredients you might already have. :) I know people prefer different consistencies and also some people are sensitive to the baking soda so that is good to test too. If you try it, I'd love to hear what you think!
+My Green Closet thanks lovely! I have coconut oil, baking soda and cornstarch so may try that first. I've wanted to get arrowroot and Shea Butter for other things so will see how I like this first and would love to add those if so :)
I just made some today with coconut oil, baking soda, cornstarch and some essential oils. I put it on over my non-natural deodorant I had on from earlier in the day and I can still smell the oils and it smells LOVELY! I'm excited to see how the DIY one works over the next week. Hubby even agreed to test it for a week too!
+My Green Closet omg I've been meaning to message you about it. its literally the best natural deodorant by far!! my husband ran out of his deodorant a couple of weeks ago and has been using mine as well and loves it!! and that is saying a lot! I'm just using baking soda, corn starch coconut oil and essential oils and its working fab!
At my house we have to have a few different things because my mom has died hair and I have dry scalp and so does my step dad and me and my mom have long hair so we use conditioner and we have a few body products because I'm allergic to camallile and my parents use that so I use a ocean scented one but yeah
You didn't really go into what kind of female hygiene products you use, which is a great place to start if you want to be more environmentally friendly. Change to a menstrual cup instead of pads or tampons saves so much waste, cotton, money (and is in my opinion when you get used to it, more practical). And also change cotton buds for a washcloth (oh, I should really do this myself, been thinking about it for ages now) and the same with makeup wipes or other hygiene wipes you just use once and throw away...
this is just my dream bathroom. i'm so fed up with all of my stupid mouthwash, toothpaste, floss, toothbrush, facial cleanser, shower gel, soap, loofah and other bullshit lol
Usually just water and the face wash is fine for getting everything off, but if I'm wearing more makeup than usual or harder to remove things like eyeliner I'll use some jojoba oil as a makeup remover.
+My Green Closet oh, thats nice :-) i use olive oil for removing mascara and other waterproof make up ( i live in Spain so we have plenty of it) and works pretty well. I guess jojoba oil is similar. Nice video btw!
We both switched to using just oil, mostly the argan oil but also sometimes coconut. I usually put a little on my hair after washing and occasionally will put more on a few hours before showering and then wash it out.
Such a calming and beautiful setup. Love the shelves below your sink, and of course, the natural products. Thank you for sharing!
Beautiful bathroom! So refreshing to see a bathroom without tons of unnecessary beauty products.
Thank you! Getting a glimpse into your space is inspiring to me. He reminds me of my goal to declutter and minimalize down to the basics.
My husband and I also is the same products for face and hair. It feels good to be close enough to share products and be in the same headspace. I need to cull my cupboard some day soon. I am doing the minimalists monthly challenge so that is where I will go next!
Hi. Thank you for the tour. I really liked to see a bathroom that is not filled with clutter :)
Since me and my boyfriend moved I have tried to get rid of a lot of things that I didn´t use. And it is a big difference now :)
Thank you for a lovely bunch of inspiration!
Really enjoyed this!! It is so easy to let your bathroom get cluttered up with products, etc. Yours it very fresh & clean looking. :)
Thanks! Very true, I always had a really cluttered bathroom, it's probably the most noticeable change since I started my minimalism journey :)
I love your bathroom! It looks so refreshing. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! :)
Thank you for sharing! My bathroom has been the hardest place to find balance in my de-owning. It's great to see your example. Please keep us updated on your razor, I have been thinking of switching and would love to hear your thoughts.

Loved it ! I have only recently started down sizing my life and find your and similar videos very helpful and inspirational.

try an epilator, my friend has had hers for about a year and its saved her so much money!
I LOVE Lavera products! Way to go girl after my own heart.
This weekend was the first time I ever saw a safety razor! It was an old school Gillette one! Another great video! My bathroom tends to get cluttered!
When/if you get the safety razor could you possibly do a review? I've never even heard of a safety razor before and now I'm intrigued :)
That's really good to hear! I'm excited to try it out :)
I use the argan oil as a leave in conditioner/ pre-washing oil treatment and have found that works really well for my hair.
Can you please update us on what safety razor you do end up purchasing? Doing some research on my own so i can replace my plastic ones! Thank you!
Very inspiring... I seriously love your videos. The Shea-coconut-moisturiser on the shelf - do you have the recipe for this? Would love to see a video 😊
Hi,
Your video was very informative (as I just started "going green"). Thanks for sharing.
Have a nice day.

Then just write that you want new towels. You said you wanted to give them away to get more eco-friendly ones. That is contradictory.
I don't see the point of discussing what I should write. I did not asked for opinions on my decision.
Pretty place! What kind of candles do you use?
Thanks! I usually use beeswax candles and occasionally soy.

the wooden nail brush, where did you bought it? :*
You´re wrong, this IS an interesting bathroom tour!
Love that you get along with such few products :)
I have to say that I own a few more, for skincare I own two cleansers (one that I use everyday and the other one about two times a week for removing makeup), a hydrosoul, jojoba oil and a serum for acne.
So happy to see that you use and like it as well, the company is located only 5 minutes away from where I live (Lavera is very close to me as well) :)
For toothpaste I really like Lavera, Sante and Logodent.
Oh and I wanted to update you that I will start working at this little fair trade/organic concept store in my city next month! I am so excited about that :)
Hope you are well!
Thank you! :)
I use the argan oil as a leave-in conditioner/treatment and it works really well for my hair so I found I don't need a conditioner.
That's really cool that Eco Cosmetics and Lavera are near you!
Congrats on getting a job with that store! That's super exciting!! I hope it goes really well and would love to hear about your experience and if there's any interesting brands or products you discover working there :)
I'd love to see how you make your deodorant!
where do you live? because your lavera gel was from germany? and how does the safety razor work?
she currently live in Germany
That's a great idea! Thanks for the suggestion :)
Really enjoyed your tour!
Thanks! :)
Absolutely loved this
Have you posted a DIY deodoran video? I'd love the recipe.
+Valerie Rowekamp I second that!!
Yes please!
Bathroom goals! ❤️
Great video as always! I never really thought about buying a safety razor! Sounds interesting and amazing! Something for me to look into ;)
I have been going through my toiletries over the past week and couldn't believe how much I had accumulated.
I have wanted to like natural deodorants, but honestly can't be asked to reapply ;)
I haven't tried my hand at making my own, but if you think it works better, I'll give it a go :)
How did you like the DIY deodorant??
+My Green Closet omg I've been meaning to message you about it. its literally the best natural deodorant by far!!
my husband ran out of his deodorant a couple of weeks ago and has been using mine as well and loves it!! and that is saying a lot!
I'm just using baking soda, corn starch coconut oil and essential oils and its working fab!
try the MENSTRUAL CUP! ^^
do you use that? I'm really thinking about trying it out
At my house we have to have a few different things because my mom has died hair and I have dry scalp and so does my step dad and me and my mom have long hair so we use conditioner and we have a few body products because I'm allergic to camallile and my parents use that so I use a ocean scented one but yeah
I like it, the video and your bathroom. :D
Do you have conditioner?
You didn't really go into what kind of female hygiene products you use, which is a great place to start if you want to be more environmentally friendly. Change to a menstrual cup instead of pads or tampons saves so much waste, cotton, money (and is in my opinion when you get used to it, more practical). And also change cotton buds for a washcloth (oh, I should really do this myself, been thinking about it for ages now) and the same with makeup wipes or other hygiene wipes you just use once and throw away...
mvhLinda I wanted to write the exact same thing. menstrual cups are great :)
wait no conditioner?
Great video!
Where did you get those towels, Erin?
I got them at a German store called Grüne Erde.
A menstrual cup is more eco friendly. Check out Ruby cup.
this is just my dream bathroom. i'm so fed up with all of my stupid mouthwash, toothpaste, floss, toothbrush, facial cleanser, shower gel, soap, loofah and other bullshit lol
what product do you use for remove your make up? :)
Nice video btw!
what do you guys use for conditioner?
We both switched to using just oil, mostly the argan oil but also sometimes coconut. I usually put a little on my hair after washing and occasionally will put more on a few hours before showering and then wash it out.
sounds interesting, i may try that.
I like the ledge u have
Why aren't you supposed to leave African Black Soap in the shower?
I don't really call that minimalist... but maybe that's just me
