Great video! Jacknife's style is something i would consider simultaneously simple and complex. The geometric shapes they utilise in the clothing contrasted by the more flowy and layered hair is definitely something that makes their art recognisable. As for future analyses, azling4 (artist of irene, tuye, robin) seems like a fun one! Their compositions are always look so surreal and the way they use both lines and textures to colour is iconic
When I saw Dorothy for the first time, I immediately fell in love with the artist's art style, especially when it comes to Dorothy. It gives me motivation to improve my drawing skills and your informative video helps it better!
One of my fave of Jacknife's art is the default Mulberry skin and the E2 art. The bright blue and red under the hood was a great splash of color and I immensely prefer it to the green skin.
super cool study!! i love jacknife’s art and your replica looked great! your editing is very nice too, everything is laid out in such a nice and readable way. if you’re taking suggestions, i would love to see studies on kuroblood (lee’s detective agency/chongyue) or norizc’s (ayerscarpe, kafka, saria, etc) styles!!
I'm not an artist myself but I do enjoy seeing people able to create arts from the blank of a sheet of white. At the end you did critic yourself on the blank space which is true in my opinion, with those blank space it looks like a concept art then an actual release character. I think you can input some Laterano design in, be it building or furniture those fill up those space. I'm think of Fiammetta standing at the roof top as she always does (make sense why she can aim up in the sky as well) None the less, you did well in recreating with the art style.
I really love these art study break down! You explanation is just top notch! Very informative and gives a fresh look for their artworks! Studying arknights artists' artstyle is something I have been heavily invested too! Especially small_ryuzaki (Cantabile's artist) and Coneyrivard (Exusiai's artist).
Also I noticed that he uses multiply filter to coloring probably is something like Base colors>Lineart> multiply mode with the shadows and he uses many different colors(probably opacity locked) to add differents tones, etc and after that are just adjusting layers
I also think they do separated objects that are important, like the one base for guns, one for the character, etc or something that you don wanna paint in just one layer. There's a UA-camr called Nakid or it's Nakdi that they have some videos painting like that, using one layer for shadows can sounds a pain but imo it's easier than making a layer and layer for shadows for every single part and it's easier to fix and find mistakes
Honestly, I really liked this anaylsis!! I think a suggestion though, looking at jacknifes other works(specifically his more recent chibis) he seems to use something, that somewhat looks like a soft brush or something like a default round brush!! However this helped break down the complexingly simple style jacknife rocks!! Especially with the colors and how they work in his pieces!!
Your Fia art is Great, If she wasn’t holding her weapons I’d think she’s at the Disco. The Checkerboard from her E2 is a Nice Touch as well, I think you did the Weapons pretty well 👍 Also Why the Heck does Mulberry have such a Good Design and She’s only a Healer. Even Corroserum which I’m not a big fan of, I can’t deny that his Art is Really good.
Np! I have too many irl responsibilities to make and manage a discord 24/7 rn, but maybe in the future I'll figure something out, like a free chat on yt
Amazing style study! I love Jacknife and seeing you break their style down really helped me grasp some of the things I wasn't sure about! I also loved your drawing! The weapons looked great and I overall really liked the pose :D As for suggestions: maybe Lumen's/Tequila's/Stainless' artist? Love their style and coloring a lot! Edit: or how about Chuzenji? Their art is really beautiful
Many thanks for the analysis. If you may, can you analyze liyu_li's artstyle (honeyberry's artist)? I'd be grateful if you decide to do it since liyu_li's artstyle is somewhat unique for me to learn
Added Dorothy to my my Arknights wife list after Specter Just love her design and and personality Fun fact: Along with Mayer and Ptilopsis, Dorothy is the only Rhine Lab Operator not illustrated by NoriZC. Her illustrator is instead Jacknife!
Sorry, but I have too many irl responsibilities rn to create and moderate a discord 24/7. But I'm sure there are lots of other servers for drawing and stuff if critique is what you're looking for!
Little art tip! Never just color in a part and start shading it separately from everything else without coloring and considering the light source of the entire drawing!! ( for example how you did with her skin ). This can cause a massive discrepancy in how different areas are shaded resulting in the lighting not really making sense. You generally want to color and shade everything at once to create a harmonious look in the entire drawing. Also try to avoid working in a square-shaped canvas, especially as you're learning. This is to avoid ending up with a ton of dead space in your composition, empty space that looks as it could've been used better or filled. Try sticking to portrait or canvas instead, this can also improve your feel for cinematic compositions and make it less likely you'll struggle with fitting the character in the page.
Out of curiosity do you have an email or anywhere I can contact you? I messaged you on Twitter but I'm assuming you don't use it very often based on your tweets. Thanks!

I love azling4! It's a shame they are so obscure compared to other artists (their pixiv is dead, and they don't even have twitter).
It's amazing how complex people's artstyle can be. Aside from being informative, your analysis are easy to follow and understand. Kudos!

I don't understand anything about art, but listening to your explanations is really fun! Nice video, chill vibes.
Your channel is freaking awesome, damn. How did I not find this sooner??
i love your art not going to lie, also i like how you can go into so much detail just about a single art.
I'd love to see a NoriZC or Azling4 style analysis someday. Good video!
ty for the suggestion!

I loved when you went it to discussion about the layer and clipping masks 🤩
Amazing style study!
Your just keep getting better amazing 😱👏💖👍🤗

Your study is awesome. Shading and highlighting is pretty good. Well done! Looks pretty difficult, but also fun! I should do this too XD
really love your arknights artist study videos!! istg they need to receive more highlights, i love their art!! your videos also helps me >
thank youuu i really needed this

It's very similar to ASK, but both doesn't uses just multiply mode, they add more colors on adjusting layers, add details etc

These videos are great!

I love how Jacknife drew Dorothy !
Woo! It's here! Thanks for taking the suggestion.
If it's possible, do you ever think you'll be creating a community discord?
Np! I have too many irl responsibilities to make and manage a discord 24/7 rn, but maybe in the future I'll figure something out, like a free chat on yt
awesome
Its amazing how you can find and mimic the elements of their art. Can you do Skade the artist of Phantom? I’ve always loved Skade’s art.
Do the Pochi Goya style analysis next.
How do you even start to analyze these artists? Crazy skill indeed

I came for art, not the angles of the triagruthem theory in advanced geometry 7
good video tho T//v//T

You should make a discord server, that way we all can discuss stuff about drawing and such.

Did my audio just broke or this video don't have voice
That's a nice art, but can you draw it with RuZhai style
