Home a medley of songs about Home. They’re from multiple decades which is fun. All recorded and released from home while on lockdown. Pentatonix jumped in to take care of their fans as soon as possible. Stories of Scott stumbling thru protools is pretty funny but they did it and at least for me it couldn’t have come at a better time. Just like Mad World. Perfect timing for world events. I have never heard this before and I am on the floor. The dissonant harmonies and Matt absolutely driving that bass train is one of their most significant recordings. It doesn’t have any of the wall of sound of their other big pieces, but it is superb in its simplicity. I’ll be listening to this quite a lot! Thanks for introducing it to me. I can always depend on your PTX recommendations.
The At Home EP felt like a step up in their production levels to me. I said at the time that it felt as though they'd brought Superfruit production values to Pentatonix. I still feel that but of course they've surpassed that now with The Lucky Ones and in particular the deluxe tracks. The only thing I can see them do next is to introduce more of the instrumentation and vocal effects they used in those tracks. It's clever of them to go back to their more traditional (for them) a cappella roots on so much of the Christmas album to balance it out and please the a cappella purists. But they've constantly surprised me to this point and I'm sure they'll come up with something out of left field that will seem like a natural progression after a couple of listens. Whatever they do, I'm here for it. They've always been risk takers and pushed the boundaries and that's what keeps a jaded old popaphobe like me interested. I'm used to it in jazz, in fact it's why I love it but their level of invention and originality in pop is rare and along with their musicality it's what keeps me a happy Pentaholic.

When I saw this video for the first time, I thought, ‘oh, Kevin and Matt have COVID beards’. And then 30 seconds later, I said out loud ‘where the hell is Mitch’s mustache?’. Lol.
As always, Pentatonix upgrades a beautiful original and I absolutely love their arrangement for this and how clearly Matt shines through. Travis, I can’t wait to see PTX Evergreen at the end of this month! My first concert…I’ve waited WAY too long 🤣

I had this song on repeat the day it came out, and I can't even articulate why. As others have said, not a common one for reactors but it's so lovely, as you described. The vocals, the video, them, all of it. Mitch in particular is just heartbreakingly handsome in this one. Thank you Travis for your reaction, glad you liked it. And yes, it's even more beautiful when played loudly, it does exactly that, it wraps you up in a bright warm hug.

It was one of the things I looked forward to while working 12 to 16 hours a day every day for weeks at a grocery store during the lockdown.
They filmed this in their own houses during the lock down. They came out with other songs as well. They kept busy during the lock down. Also side note is Mitch actually filmed that in a empty house because he was moving.
Hevenly! That's the only correct word to describe this song💙. From time of pandemic isolation we have also "Blinding Lights". One of my personal favourites. Completely different vibe than "Dreams", but so, so good. I bet you will love it.

I assume you're no doubt aware by now but there's 2 other club remixes of this (I think they were on the deluxe album maybe, idk, I just know they're on spotify) if you wanted to compare. Obviously, they have a different feel to them as they're very clubby, and it's interesting to see what could be done to their voices if you use all the technology available to tweak and add synths and stuff (the Tobtok remix seems to have mostly removed all but Scott & Mitch's vocals and even they've been messed with, so it just sounds empty & lacking even with the music, imo), but they don't do justice to them imo & just pale in comparison to hearing them like this. Idk how much, if any, input the PTX members had in the remixes, but yeah, not my thing, maybe if I'd not heard the original & didn't know how good the 5 of them can sound. 🤷 But, yeah, this is my preferred version by a loooong way.
