Also in Chernobyl, they had Russian soldiers digging trenches and embattlements in the highly irradiated forest outside. After they left, the Ukrainians discovered their barracks are fifty times higher in radiation than is considered normal. They carry that with them as well.
They were just testing to see if the microplastics in their micropenises became more radioactive. You know, after all the radioactive sheep earlier.

"Normal" for Chernobyl is a MUCH higher number then in most other places. 👽☠💀☢
I recall a story of some researchers who went to Chernobyl for studies. They had their Geiger counters, tools samples and left as it was nearing the end of the “safe” amount of time to be there. But, to their consternation, even as they left the area, their counters continued to tick away. The problem was that they had stayed so long that their vehicles had absorbed some of the radiation (though it would wear off).
Not only have those soldiers likely inhaled or absorbed radioactive particles through their skin as they dug those trenches and slept on the disturbed soil, their large metal tanks have absorbed some of that radiation, radioactive dust has coated their equipment and is in need of a thorough decontamination that I’m not sure their leaders will care about.
And honestly, I wouldn’t put it past Russian leaders to take those soldiers and put them with other groups who will watch as the radiation poisoning takes its toll on them. Imagine going to war and watching as the new guy begins wasting away, vomiting and his hair falling out. Even if there’s no real danger to the other soldiers, morale is gonna take yet another hit as the very land places a devil’s curse upon them.

No, actually, the amount of radioactivity required for something to glow in the dark is so much that you would be dead already if you saw it. Even the radium watch dials in the old watches, they only glow because they mixed phosphors with radium so it glowed indirectly by activating phosphorus, the concentration of radium was not enough to glow on its own.
