I'm glad the chateau community is such a close-knit one, it must be a huge help during difficult times, as with the family at Lalande right now. On a lighter note, I loved the deco enameled stork locket, it would look great on either a man or a woman, and thankfully gender distinctions in terms of color and wardrobe are not so rigid today. Not a fan of the Dubuffet statue in the park. The jewellery however is stunning. The micromosaic 18ct bangle is so beautiful but the price is so expensive. Great question! Stick pins became very popular in the early 1800s as one of the few types of jewelry that men still wore after the highly-ornamented and bejewelled 1700s. They were used to hold a cravat or a cape in place, and -of course- were status symbols. By the mid-late 1800s until WWI, they were also used by women to fasten a scarf or collar or placed in a hat, as this was the era before zippers and buttons became the norm. Now they are highly collectible for men and women who still enjoy a bit of discreet yet elegant jewelry (worn as a brooch or hairpin or on a tie or scarf), and also they are coveted by antique jewellers to convert into rings and pendants as they are usually very old, high quality and 18k gold. 🏰💖

Antique earrings are very scarce because the really old ones often do not have intact hooks. Then came the fashion for screw and clip earrings, which are no longer desirable. Not a fan of the Dubuffet statue in the park. The jewellery however is stunning. The micromosaic 18ct bangle is so beautiful but the price is so expensive. The Boucheron plaque brooch was my favourite. Art Deco jewellery is always a favourite. Thank you for taking us on a journey around Paris with you.

Great question! I really wanted to find a way to continue vlogging without going the Patreon route as I have lots of other time commitments. It was my dream to have a website, but I wanted to offer truly beautiful items that reflected what we love about European beauty, art and history. For millennia, jewelry has been a reflection of symbolism, love, craftsmanship, remembrance and adornment, so it has always fascinated me. I could think of nothing more wonderful to offer to our lovely chateau community, but it has surprised no one more than me how many kindred spirits there are out there! Each piece is carefully sourced, researched, cleaned, tested, photographed, uploaded, sold and packaged by me myself with a lot of love! 🏰💖

Great question! Stick pins became very popular in the early 1800s as one of the few types of jewelry that men still wore after the highly-ornamented and bejewelled 1700s. They were used to hold a cravat or a cape in place, and -of course- were status symbols. By the mid-late 1800s until WWI, they were also used by women to fasten a scarf or collar or placed in a hat, as this was the era before zippers and buttons became the norm. Now they are highly collectible for men and women who still enjoy a bit of discreet yet elegant jewelry (worn as a brooch or hairpin or on a tie or scarf), and also they are coveted by antique jewellers to convert into rings and pendants as they are usually very old, high quality and 18k gold. 🏰💖

Hi Misty! So happy you are joining us. Yes, I’ll happily try to slow down with the camera. Sometimes in the moment there is a lot going on, but always good to remember. The USD and the Euro are very similar to each other at the moment; for example, if something costs €20, it’s about $22-$23. I avoid discussing currencies too much because our lovely friends in Australia, UK, Canada, South Africa, etc., all have different currencies, and I don’t want to be seen as playing favourites! 🥰🏰💖

I agree! It was so beautiful but -oh my- what an investment! I do have some antique earrings coming up soon…from Georgian to Art Deco, including some very interesting micro mosaic Victorian Grand Tour earrings. Antique earrings are very scarce because the really old ones often do not have intact hooks. Then came the fashion for screw and clip earrings, which are no longer desirable. I’m always on the lookout! 🏰💖
