Obviously nobody should break SEC laws, or do tax evasion, but Jordan Belfort is obviously a literal genius and savant when it comes to sales. Jordan Belfort is to sales, what Tom Brady is the football and Michael Jordan is to basketball. Anybody for any career of their life, would instantly become more successful and more rich if they got sales advice from Jordan Belfort. His understanding of psychology and sells techniques is second to none. I make over $200,000 a year, own three rental properties at age 28, and I have no debt, and I didn’t even need to go to college. I just have a remodeling company and I’m good at sales. Jordan Belfort is the truth

People seem quick to associate the acts Belfort did to his disposition but not at all to his situation. Have you people heard of Stanley Milgram's experiment? Most people who went through that experiment didn't think they would go over 200-250v of shock yet the majority of them went to the max voltage. Research it. It's easy for some people to think that they would never do something terrible like this but unless you're in that situation yourself you have absolutely no idea how you would act. We're not all as great as we like to think we are. Have a little humility.

Clarkson is an ignorant asshole who makes no attempt to hide he's an ignorant asshole. He makes rude and sexist comments on the regular, but he'll then spend several days humiliating himself in painful ways for the sake of television comedy.
If he were fictional, he would be perfectly acceptable as a charicature of a human; as a real human being, he's...controversial.
Piers is Clarkson in a serious hat, with none of the self-aware buffoonery. He attacks sensitive issues on both sides, but they're often the ones their opponents will most readily compromise on - Biden, Harris, and even Bernie Sanders are fairly light on gun control.
He's also notorious for collecting information in unethical or ilegal ways like hacking phones or just sending paparazzos to stalk convenient targets.

He's a hero to you like African warlords are heros to others and Hitler, Atilla the hun are to some. People who achieved "succes" for themselves at the expense of all others are not to be glorified. That's the ultimately disgustiung part of capitalism indoctrination. Glorifying fraud and theft while only extremely few eventually are better off with it. And you are made to believe you can as well. Small hint, the success of Jews and criminals in business isn't merely through fair work and respect for the society and the fellow man. Petty criminals, organized crime is what it is, nothing more. But they will keep stuffing the "American dream" down your throat making you abandon the interests of society, yourself and your fellow man in favor of a greed that is promised but can and won't ever be fulfilled but for the people that spread that illusion and have tools like yourself as support. Like slaves supporting their master in promise of freedom that never comes. Meanwhile stepping over each other and destroying the weaker ones, sabotaging each other all in the illusion of a promised freedom that will only ever exist for the masters (being the extremely wealthy that put the blame for poverty or slavery with the laziness of a few of the slaves, making the rest agree to harsher treatent for these slaves as well as themselves, there is no other way they say). This type of extreme, undeserved wealth is a huge part of what is wrong with the world. We need big redistribution of wealth and birth right. And need to crack down on the scum exploiting fair businesses, labour. Wall street needs to be regulated beyond any possible fraud. It's far too important for society to be left at the mercy of criminals. And money has to be banned as a factor in politics and media.

    • @theodorebagwell420

Music Man I got your point. But you gotta love the fact that he did what he dreamed of, no matter the cost. A lot of people dream about losing weight, getting fit or getting rich for example, but never achieving their dreams and they become absolutely nothing. But this man right here did it on his own by exploiting others. Its morally wrong but personally I don't care. And for Attila and he is badass and conquered what he wanted in a familiar way as Belford, but Belford only took peoples money, not lives. Hitler wrote a book about how he wanted to kill everything thats not white, blonde, blue eyed, muscular and intelligent. And Hitler killed 6million jews in concentration camps, did Belford do that? No.

Ville v How many suicides did he cause and life's works has Belfort destroyed? Taking billions from presumable hundreds of thousands of more or less honnest, hardworking people actually doing something for society. Taking people's money in a society like America where nothing is free IS almost taking their lives. It's taking what they work for in a lifetime and thus taking their life.

What makes you root for the character in the movie is that most of us guys know we'll probably do the same thing he did if we had the opportunity and knowledge that he had to manipulate stock prices and take people's money. Those people were dumb enough to give him their money in the first place. He would have never been caught with his dirty tactics on wall street if he did not launder his money to the Swiss guy who ratted him out. At least he's sharing to the world the lesson he learned instead of just hiding from the world after getting caught, and he's now promoting good honest sales practices to other businesses.

All humans have good and bad in them and the world isn't just made of black and white. Most things in life are grey(if you even get what I mean. I'd like to see you deny it). People can fuck up whether you'd consider them assholes or saints. The movie is so great because both Dicaprio and Hill portrayed in a masterful way their respective characters. They brought into life all the lascivious degraded behavior of Belford and his close associates. Bottom line Belford was, still is and will always be a genius prick. He should have paid in full his sentence, you can feel his flourish arrogance in his talkative, mannerisms and demeanor. I'm surprise this inconsequential man is still around giving seminars and interviews. He is the mere image of a notorious lucky criminal. Look up the film 'Puncture' starring Chris Evans; this was based on a real life lawyer who was full of crack and all sorts while still working. Of course, he could only keep it up for so long, but he kept it hidden well. And Belfort wasn't a professional: he was a greedy, lying thief who tried to use drugs and sex as an excuse but they were really his vices after he fleeced people out of their money.
