R7 5800X3D pulls "only" 108W compared to R9 5950X 120W or R9 7950X 251W according to GN EPS12V rail test, so it is not too demanding for VRMs.

I’m remember when 90 bucks for a motherboard was if not high end at least mid range. And 40-50 bucks was low end. I’m glad to see reviews for cheaper options but I personally don’t buy computer parts on aliexpress as I prefer to have proper EU warranty. It’s good you mentioned fan headers. I’ve noticed that when buying budget boards the lack of fan headers makes cooling difficult. Like on my H610 motherboard for my 12400F.

For those who already have this board, or that are on the fence about getting one: There is a new bios with 1.2.0.0a AGESA support, and Ryzen 9000 series support. Changes I could see so far: added a vdroop load calibration option, and now I can go up to 6000MHz on the ram, albeit not at CL30 (CL34 works with 1.35v), and before I couldn't get past 4800Mhz, no matter what I tried. For reference, I'm using a 7600X.

Some important information about this motherboard :
    1) YOU NEED TO UPDATE THE BIOS BECAUSE OLDER BIOS VERSIONS HAVE BAD RAM SUPPORT!
    2) No 3 pin fan support, they just work at 100% rpm all the time.
    3) No profile saving in bios.
    4) Ram overcloking is complicated due to some timings are in hex and no profile saving is possible. Anything above 6000 Mhz is complicated.

Afaik AMD mandated BIOS flashback support via USB for all B650 and up mainboards (don't know about A620 though) to avoid the exact problem of having to install an older CPU just to flash the BIOS as part of their commitment to platform longevity. Part of why AM5 became generally more expensive than AM4.
That board not having features mandated by AMD would be enough of a reason for me to steer clear of the manufacturer altogether.
Other than that I completely agree with Steve - AM4's history + AM5 being a well rounded platform is all the reason you need to get a good quality board and be happy with it for years to come. I might've overdone it a "little" with my X670E Taichi Carrara, but I do not regret it one bit. 😊

I think that perhaps testing a more mainstream AliExpress brand like Soyo might provide more positive results. I would also be interested in seeing you test a Biostar B650 motherboard because I think it's the most underrated brand in the world. My first motherboard (back in 1988) was a Biostar Baby-AT design and it worked just great. The fact that Biostar still exists today just shows that even thought they're not a big player in the West anymore, they're not junk because they have persevered over the past 40 years. There are a lot of well-respected brands who cannot say the same like BFG and EVGA.

I have the one. Its BIOS stands between the 4-brand mobo and this video`s mobo. I mean there are more overclocking features and other settings but some are missed: some memory timings, no overclocking profiles, no 3-pin cooler management (only 4-pin PWM), mobo sensors show weird secondary temperatures. I.e. the 4-brand mobos do not have those issues obviously (or much less). As for hardware I ought to say the colorful mobo is great and looks very cool. I can overclock my 32 GB up to 6400 MHz with 1:1 ratio (or simply activate EXPO 6400 profile), my R7 7700 with PBO or by fix. And of course, I purchased it on nice price at Ali. Moreover I have the Colorful RTX 3090 Vulcan card.

Hey Steve, I have no common sense. The slide at 9:19, top bar has the value "69", but the rest of the bars show the Celcius notation. By chance this is showing 69°C? Or maybe it's measured in Farenheit, Kelvin, or maybe even average energy lost per second of a kangaroo? Maybe we need to use the sum notation "Sigma" , terms 1 - 69 and the rest of the bars is a segment of this sequence?

Poking fun aside: It's always easy to spend other peoples money with good advice, but if you're really really hamstrung for cash, don't gamble. Keep saving until you can buy something where RMA's will be handled properly. The dud-rate on entry level products IS higher than on the mid-range and premium stuff, so it becomes extra important to have "insurance" if you simply can't afford a loss.
