Yess Tori!!! I loved hearing your opinions on all these topics, especially the one about classic readers being snobs. I feel like people who automatically assume that classics readers are snobs, are actually being snobs themselves just by assuming that.

I'm with you, it's crazy that these things are controversies or even debated at all. 🙄 "Just enjoy reading, it's fine" indeed! Let people enjoy things!

Such a simple concept that is so often ignored, unfortunately 😅

I also prefer a physical book, but I love that all read however they enjoy it

I like your "Live, and let live" approach to the 10 "bookish controversies", and developing a love of reading (or just thinking about a story's ideas/worlds/etc.) through "required reading" (with a newer approach, of course) sounds like a good educational goal. I may give Cawpile a try too!🧡

Thank you! I’ve definitely enjoyed CAWPILE so far (meaning the past two weeks 😅)

i used to use netgalley for ebook arcs but then its so much pressure to actually read it fast and write meaningful thoughts so eventually i just stopped.

That’s why I haven’t even done netgalley. I just feel like it would be overwhelming.

I will dog-ear till I die! I also break spines, underline, doodle, highlight. If you pull a book of my shelves and it is a clean copy I either haven't read it yet or read it and didn't like it and it's waiting to be donated :)
I can't read a book digitally. I need the physical copy. I've tried. I just can't. I end up skimming too much and not taking anything in.
I don't have a problem with audio books, I just don't consume them anymore. I used to listen to them during long work commutes and i loved them! I no longer have a commute and don't have enough time in my day anymore to listen, so it's been a no from me.
SOME classics readers are totally snobs. Not all though. Some readers in general are snobs. I find more snobs in the folks that solely read nonfiction . I read everything.
Advanced reader copies - i don't get them so can't really comment. I just pre order when there is a book I really really want to read asap
Star ratings - i used to do star ratings but I got rid of all my digital reading logs, like Goodreads. I just keep a notebook now and write down my general thoughts on each book. I don't mind when others do star ratings because it really helps me filter out possible reads. A 5 star and a 1 star certainly get my attention.
I'm with you on the required reading thoughts.
book vs movie. Lord of the Rings is the only one off the top of my head where I enjoyed the movies more than the books. Actually, I think I may prefer North and South adaptation to the book also.
I like most adaptations of classics - except persuasion. yuck. I am a fan of BOTH Pride and Prejudice adaptations.
I'm answering for the fun of it, but really, we should all just be able to do our reading thing without judgement and have fun with it. I don't care what anyone else does :)

if my books look new I know that I've not read them. and if i have not read them by now, they'll never be read again, therefore altered book journals it is.
all my books that i read have and/or will have severe signs that they're owned and used.
anything less is not acceptable to me.
the worse the book the more I've read it.
    f pretty books. they're a waste.

Fair enough 😂. I honestly don’t mind a book that looks well-loved either.

I haven’t actually watched the adaptation for that in such a long time (not since I read the book). Definitely a Victober goal this year!
