I have a couple of those little vises. They are popular with watchmakers. I don’t call myself a watchmaker but I’m a collector of watches.

I've only got 8 watches. They aren't exactly special with my most "special" being a Seiko 6539-5070 - it's special because it was a gift from my wife back when we were 19 years old. Next would be my TAG Indy 500 original model (CAC111B0) with the silver bezel. However, the nicest looking watch I have is a cheapo Seiko 7S26-03V0 with the white dial. That thing looks like it should cost $10K (beauty is in the eye of the beholder - LOL).

The vices can be stacked too. A larger vice to hold the smaller one.

useful... not must have, but useful.

You bring up and interesting point. I would contend that s categories hardware, tools and parts are "must have" items for electronics. So then we are faced with are these specific items as such. For me, of this collection, some certainly are while some are "nice to have" but, as you say, useful.

Turn the face of the meter down in the case to avoid having the net and accessories from scratching the display or pushing the buttons when closed. A cut out section of microfiber towel can be used on the inside surface of the meter in case the material of the case is rough or otherwise cheap material. I like the 9V holders, I didn’t know they existed.

@@uni-byte sometimes the foam you need comes in the shipping box. My FNIRSI HRM-10 foam fits perfectly in a zipper case.

I have not had much luck with Aliexpress batteries as well as lithium battery items. (capacity usually the main issue)

I get what you are saying. I fully expect these to come in around 7000 mAh, not 10K.

Using the knife to open the box with lithium batteries was risky! 😅

The most interesting tool for me is the steel mini vise at 10:24. I’m personally not a Aliexpress fan even though I have already bought from Ali Express. Batteries and semiconductors are often FAKE components . What would be really interesting is to have a follow up about the quality of the product. Another UA-camr well known here in Europe make these reviews as well and he gives a recommendation (or not) to the products. Since your selection differs from his product selection it would be really good to know the quality of the bought products. By the way you are ordering a lot of stuff from Ali Express. Do you also USE the parts you ordered? Please, more project related videos if possible. In this videos you also give a part list. That’s enough - at least for me .

I'm actually testing the batteries as we speak (write?). I do projects - at least one a month and sometimes more, but generally they are not received as well as reviews or mailbag videos. In those project videos you will see a lot of the components/parts/stuff I buy. I have also provided updates on products I have bought if I think the update is worthy. Usually these updates are at the introduction of a video that is mainly about another subject. The problem I think, with doing a video that is all updates is that I'd have to test a lot of these items to make a single video. The time required would be prohibitive.

Thanks so far. I do understand your intention. The question regarding using the bought components is based on my own experience. So I may buy for two projects. However the second project or maybe both projects will not be made within a certain timeframe. Now, I have a lot of components laying around. You may manage this in a much better way then me…

    • @uni-byte

@@heinzkreutziger2218 Not really. I do buy components with the intention of using them for some particular project, or even two, but like you the 2nd project may never materialize. However, eventually the spare component(s) becomes useful for another project or an experimentation. I still have 2N2222 transistors I bought 40 years ago, and they still get used. Storage and indexing all the parts you acquire over time is a bit of an issue and is something I deal with over time too. For instance, I got those 2N2222s in a bag of 500 from a surplus parts liquidator for $2 IIRC. That was before fakes were being made, and I cannot buy them now for anywhere near that price. My advice is never be afraid to have a few extras. They will eventually come in handy and if you have them in hand, you will have them at a better price and will not have to pay shipping to get them delivered. All is good.
Also, trying to standardize on components is a very handy way to limit the number you have to keep track of.

More than likely. I needed to fill out an order to get free shipping, doing the math these cost me -$2.58. Hey, there's a tiny chance they are good!! I have, on occasion, gotten good chips from Ali. LOL!
