I bet that our protected infra was going to feature prominently and I was not disappointed. :)
To those telling Johnny to be careful, trust me - he is. It looks dangerous because of our roads, laws and enforcement - all designed to facilitate driving convenience and a lack of accountability.
I agree with all of the above. The lack of enforcement on the roads is mind blowing, it shouldn't feel like we're staring in Mad Max every time we want to go for a spin yet here we are...
CycleYYZ very well put. Pretty much sums up the realty of this video. If more people were aware of their surroundings the city would be a much safer more efficient place for everyone. Kind of like this pandemic we are all in this together.
7:15 - Johnny Rage
Johnny nice 9:08
ua-cam.com/video/zRNWkQMpD4s/v-deo.html - Gotta be one of most funniest Bicycle Rage from Johnny. The funniest part of this was he takes his rage at a old geezer;)
I just had a new channel idea... ;)
@@MiggyCR hahaha
The only time we hear him say the F word
The entire stretch of Queens Quay is just full of mindless pedestrians casually strolling into a lane of traffic lol
Lol I enjoyed this footage 🤣 had my heart pounding but I remember most of these scenes you just know how to bring these vlog I like the twist to it👍thanks for sharing and continue to be safe 🥰🤗💞🤗
If Johnny rode with bright colours and a white helmet, folks might see him. Cycling ninjas enjoy wearing black clothes, helmets and sunglasses, plus ear buds. Weasels on bikes are an attraction for small children and crows. May their civic negligence shine!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I enjoyed this compilation, some people are really crazy driving, I deal with that too when I bike in NYC, I like the way how you patiently describe what is happening.
Thanks Manny and stay safe in NYC!
Darkly clad cyclists are ninjas who love the trauma.
7:20 first time heard you swearing lmao
This is really good video Johnny , I hope the people appreciate all your effort .
Great videos johnny. Waiting for a walk through Thorncliffe park view drive if you can please
Please post more weird compilations like this, thanks
I'll try!
Everything that can happen when you ride a bike!
Great incidents compilation video my friend! like 12
Wearing dark clothes and helmets helps the terror. Sunglasses and earbuds make the idiots complete. Social negligence and civic sloth. OK?
What do you record with its so crisp
I use a few different action cameras (GoPro Hero 7 / 9 Black, Osmo Action).
A sign is posted just before the DVP underpass that says to dismount the bike and walk it until you get to the other side. It's narrow and a glancing collision is possible. I guess you missed it.
Yeah, nobody actually does though... most riders just stay to the extreme right... except for the guy riding right down the middle here.
Johnny, I gotta say those were the most dangerous pigeons I've ever seen! I hope the city begins cracking down on those irresponsible jaywalking fools! Unacceptable!
Damn pigeons!
I enjoyed your videos
1:06 did you flip off that driver?
Oh I absolutely did ;) and at 7:13 as well...
@@JohnnyStrides bwahahahaaha, yeah I liked that one too. Also liked how you told off the guy on the bike running the red. I got a kick out of this more candid video.
The Dutch really need to teach the world how to do bike infrastructure. They could make a lot of money in consultancy fees.
Dutch consultants ARE used, but then Ontario cities just ignore their recommendations. Like here in Ottawa where a woman was killed exactly where the Dutch consultants told them not to design the street this way:
www.cbc.ca/news/canada/ottawa/city-of-ottawa-chooses-less-safe-option-for-o-connor-bikeway-to-make-room-for-cars-1.3855100
Velocitized drivers terrorize bikers regularly. This trauma is of no interest. The trouble with bike safety is the rider, who is frequently riding a stolen bike and blows stop signs, wears ear buds and rides on the sidewalk. OK? Civic duty is unknown in Ontario's capital city. Teens should supersoak the crotches of adults breaking traffic laws and run. Snowballs in the winter. The endless parade of city slicker bicyclists - need wet crotches and adult diapers to get the hard cold facts. OK?
I know this video is old but for kids any tips on biking safely on the roads? Or just stuff to watch out for.
Can't wait until the snowy winter walks
I liked the pigeons , nice touch ...hahaha!
I wanted something calming after the prior moment lol.
I'll need to preface this comment by saying you were not in the wrong for any of the incidents, but approaching so many of those situations as if the person driving will yield or the oncoming bike would stay on the correct side of the trail are not assumptions I would make as a Toronto cyclist. I value my wellbeing more than the faith I put into others to follow the rules of the road.
what a clever idea johnny :)
Thanks!
I'm glad you remain safe. This video made my weekend. Call me ridiculous but watching you flip people off and hearing you curse was delightful! 🤭
ha, sometimes I have to let it out ;)
Poor citizenship is ultrafashionable in all capital cities, Doofus!
You can't pass a car from behind and be mad at him for crossing into the next lane. If you were a car you would have to heed to his turn. Being on a bike doesn't mean you can glide without stopping at all
Care to point out where that moment was?
@@JohnnyStrides yes it starts at 25 seconds. The right lane was closed therefore it cannot be a bike path. By road rules you are behind that car and the same way a motorcycle cannot glide through like that neither can you. If a right lane is closed and someone cuts right at the opening, he can't anticipate a biker squeezing by and you have to heed to him as you're behind. I'm not one to talk because I'm a maniacal biker but it almost cost me big time once when I did the same thing at 50km/h riding downhill on Lawrence
At 25 seconds in he is obligated to check his blind spot and signal before changing lanes and did neither. You can't justify it by saying he can't anticipate a cyclist. If you do that on a driving test you instantly fail. Cyclists (and motorbikes) frequently ride in partially closed lanes which makes him all the more obligated to check his blindspot. That's terrible driving no matter how you slice it.
@@JohnnyStrides nah lol the lane was closed. You're behind him. You can't swoop in like that. Even if he didn't signal hes still in front of you. If you hit someone from behind you're at fault, whether by car or bike 🚲
@@user-ke5ju7zx8r Nope...at the time of his improper lane change I was not behind him. Again, the driver had to signal (didnt't) and has to check his blindspot (again... they didn't). If a vehicle strikes an object while changing lanes it is 100% at-fault (ask any insurance adjuster... I know several). He was reckless and you're justifying it..
smh
I only hit 1 jay runner this year,on the new Danforth lanes.
I haven't hit any but there's certainly been countless close encounters!
@@JohnnyStrides Same here, watch for the "planter people",(the guys that hang around the planters).
The waterfront trail is such a shit trail, too busy and it makes the 10% of people that stop feel like suckers watching the other 90% blast through all the lights.
Yeah the Waterfront is tricky. That's one place I don't feel comfortable to ride a bike. LOL
It should be one of the most relaxing places to ride your bike, yet it ends up being a stress fest (for those of us that pay attention to their surroundings). Bad design + clueless people = :(
Be visible - like Don Cherry at a frat party!
Your comments crack me up 😂 had me in stitches😊
Thanks !
You know you need to change how you ride. You can take the lane to increase visibility to other motorist even thouse pulling out of a business, u name it. If you take the lane and move out a little further you would have more visibility but also its a good idea to signal. things to remember Taking the lane, signgaling your changing lanes. Don't make the assumption motorist will see you
Are you just giving random advice here? I always take the lane when safety dictates (I stayed right of the streetcar in one scene as I'm not going to take a lane in front of that as it wasn't necessary). Also where was I not signaling?
@@JohnnyStrides bruhh he's right ur riding in the middle of the road and clearly u can't handle those car , bus . Ain't no hate on u but u need to change the way u ride bro just saying 💯
@@moungkreuk1271 Are you daft? Cyclists are allowed and encouraged to take the entire lane as safety dictates. The law is on my side.
@@JohnnyStrides cyclists needs to stay on the right at all times whenever possible.
@@arbiter8246 This is false.
"The cyclist can take the lane," said Sgt. Jason Kraft of the Toronto Police's Traffic Services.
Always safe careful driving. 🙏
Most ride stolen bikes and blow stop signs etc. They try and get cash payouts for traffic accidents so that they can play computer games all day. They wear dark clothes and sunglasses, earbuds and if they wear a helmet, it will be a dark one. In my city, many of these bicycling weasels - text. A parade of civic negligence, masquerading as healthy.
I had an older KHS Fleetwood ...beautiful bike.
...those transit rails are a good case for separated protected infrastructure.
Geesh! You probably saved a couple of lives at 13:33, both the cyclist, the older pedestrian and perhaps a vehicle collision as well. I’m so glad you spoke up and that he heard you.
This is certainly an exciting video but I hope there are fewer “incidents” going forward so that we’ll have to wait a long time for another one. (Your safety is the most important factor).
Thanks Vera!
It's crazy how many people in cars turning perpendicular into traffic do not look for cyclists...
OMG! be careful on your bike Johnny so many accidents waiting to happen out there ,your no good to us if your out of Commission , who else is gonna shoot stunning 4K video's for us ?🤞
Thanks! I try to stay safe :)
@@JohnnyStrides 👍
Johnny likely wears dark clothes and sunglasses. Ninja cyclists are always freaking folks out. Suddenly a speeding cyclist appears and folks are not expecting Ninja Boy!
BIKE LANE! HOW DO THEY WORK??
This video made me appreciate how pretty tame it is to bike in this city .. I mean vision 0 is a failure and thank God you have not suffered at the hands of some terrible drivers. Ride safe
Terror to bikes is caused by drivers from off the highway. They suffer from Velocitization - a slow motion deceleration effect. The cyclist is seen in slow motion and cut off. Watch for pick up trucks, downtown. OK?
Started bike this summer in DT Toronto, saw few accidents even one with serious injuries, high risk to ride bike there lol
I know you're still alive but I only made it 1m08s in before I had to bail.
beautiful city i lik it
Kudos to you for stopping at the reds. Why should drivers respect cyclists if cyclists don't respect the rules?
Lawlessness rules Toronto. Unable to mutter the magic words, "Social Responsibility or Civic Duty," Mayor Tory hopes to hide this for another two centuries!!!!!!!
“How about you mind your own business” 🤣
@9:08 perhaps that guy was distracted?
Just another leisurely bike ride in Toronto.
Yup, nothing to see here folks...
2:46 It is the Oi bell, isn't it? I got the same bell for all my bikes and my wife's bikes because it looks cool. But it is pretty useless.
you're a brave man bike trails i am done with them because people on them annoys me i'll ride my bike maybe 6:30 in the morning less traffic and less people
That's the best time to go IMO!
I am surprised you're still alive
As just an observer, not knowing the actual distances, please ride further away from parked cars. Safety comes first. Getting doored and falling into traffic can result in serious stuff.
2:42 haha, that's my workplace.
Hmmm I don't think I wanna mess with you when your pissed off lol 🙈 You should attach a air horn on the front of your bike like Reckless Bradley did on his cycling video... people soon moved.... funny watching pedestrians jump out of their skins lol 🤣
Trauma makes bottomfeeders happy! Kids, do you know what we do with bottomfeeders? We wet their crotches! Yes we do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not gonna lie. with a growing population I'm the city it will be more harder to bike so you will need to pay more attention because of more traffic
Most cyclist love wearing dark clothing to add to the trauma.
Queens Quay - what a joke! The City spent god knows how much money ripping it up for five years and it’s a total effing zoo down there now with a road designed for aesthetic and not function. Dangerous for all involved, especially pedestrians.
I agree, it's a clusterf*ck. A good number of the people there are doddlers who probably don't mind but good design keeps them out of the way of everyone else...
Nice and pleasant city. I can't wait to live there 😊
Lawless parade of families teaching kids how to blow stop signs and civic negligence.
👌
MGT needs better ped/cyclist separation. It's always a mess.
3:45 lmao. That stopped him
When you ride a bike on city streets, one needs eyes in the back of their heads. At times it's like a war zone. One thing I have learned is to just let things go. It's not worth getting bent out of shape. Down here, if you scream/swear/flip off an a-hole driver you stand a good chance of a bad confrontation where you might end up being shot. There are many times when I'm out riding, or even driving, I wish for a portable transporting device like in Star Trek. By the time I'm done with all those dangerous air heads there would be a huge traffic jam in Antarctica. It seams that even bike lanes and multi use paths can be more dangerous at times than street riding. Just be safe out there Johnny. Have you ever thought about slowing down a bit? Just saying. Mahalo!
You seem to misunderstand riding downtown. Drivers who come off the highway cannot estimate cyclists' speeds correctly. Thee drivers suffer from the inner ear's confusion, called Velocitization. So they cut you off. Also, wearing dark clothes is a stupid idea downtown. Sunglasses and earbuds too. I have been cut off by so many pickup truck drivers in Downtown Vancouver, that I give them a wide berth, dude. Do not under estimate the hallucinating drivers who have come off of the highways. You can't tell the freaks from the normal drivers, so never underestimate the drivers' poor ability to gauge relative speeds. OK?
@@martinkent333 gauging speed coming off a highway, is true enough. I've caught myself driving above the speed limit going from highway speeds down to city street speeds, or the burbs in my case. As far as my cycling is concerned, I'm miles from a highway, so by the time any driver who has exited a highway, should have adjusted his speed long before reaching where I am, and I'm also miles from a city. Also, as far as riding a bike, or even a scooter in a downtown city area, as Johnny does now, I will not use either. I can't tell you how many times I've flinched watching Johnny weave his way through traffic in downtown Toronto riding his bike or scooter. For me, it isn't worth risking my life.
@@kelalamusic9258 Drivers that come off the freeways suffer Velocitization until they sleep and the Vestibular Structure readjusts. Cyclists are fodder for Velocitized drivers. The driver can go 50 kph, but mentally they are travelling 20 kph. A dangerous hallucination. Johnny gets off on being a domestic terrorist, frightening pedestrians and other cyclists. He probably wears dark clothes and sunglasses to make his act more slimy.
2:46 this is why i hate bicycle bell, why dont bicycle came with horns just like car and bike?
( sorry if my english bad )
Lol we know you not running red lights for the camera!
@5:13ish man you are crazy I'm not sure I would've tried that.
also I swear the pigeons become more cocky and audacious every year. Who do they think they are
At 3:45, if you hadn't stopped to rightly call that guy out, that white truck would've likely hit him. You might have saved his life there.
Yeah, he had no intentions on even yielding there...
I wish more cyclists were like you. And yes it feels like you’re the only one who obeys signals because most cyclists do not.
Being a young lad you just got learn to slow down on bridges and when people just getting out of cars dont just Ring yah Bell slow down mate!
Everyone who post aint always the best riders 😅older people dont move like a 20 -30yr old so ease up
I ride defensively and find slower riders cause far more trouble than those that are capable of moving at a brisk pace and reacting accordingly. Also, I meet your definition of an older rider :P
Keep safe always ride motor bike god bless
Yellow vest dude. Ninja cyclists die fast.
I cringed watching the way you ride, you hv bad riding skills..
Bikes are just not meant for city streets, so u need to ride w better anticipation..
Alot of what you complain about, I could easily anticipate them. The diff is that I am used to really bad traffic, you are not. I expect cars to cut me off, not used signals n to be in their blind spots, you just dont anticipate any of those. Only cab drivers, ambulance n bike messengers hv those skills in the West.
Toronto traffic to me is very well organised, w good predictable drivers. So many ppl who used to that n are just complacent. If you dont chg your attitude, u will get into an accident one of this day.
I've ridden an awful lot and never had a single incident. This video just points out the obstacles you can expect to encounter in TO and that's all.
Thanks for telling me to change my attitude 😂
It's almost as if you're taking the side of the idiots out there endangering everyone... I guess it takes one to know one?
@@JohnnyStrides A good cyclist expect idiots. They will always there, n when u get hit by idiots does it really matter if you are right?
You expect everyone to be good drivers, follow the rules n street smart. Most do, but there are that 10-20% who dont. Good cyclist always expect the worst, tries to improve their skills n adapt to traffic.
@@RedHanded1969 Its your opinion on his riding and questioning if he is a good cyclist or not but regardless cyclists shouldn't have to tolerate bad drivers to begin with. Cyclists shouldn't feel scared to ride their bikes alongside cars when people cycle for many reasons Whether its a hobby, to lose weight, or financial reasons. Drivers should take into consideration that cyclists are very vulnerable and could get seriously injured in a crash. The way I see it, its cars that aren't meant for city streets for pollution, grid locks, and especially for high cost of maintenance. There are even plans to make parts of downtown car free and the addition of more bike lanes so i do think your statement is becoming false.
@@brandonbernard6751 N America is a car culture..
To allow safe bike riding, the traffic lane hv to be totally redesign..
His riding style is dangerous bcos he assumed he has the right of way, that is incontradiction to the other drivers mentality.. I on other hand, w bikes or motorcycle, always assume I dont always hv the right of way.. So I anticipated other cars better than him, which is safer.. I blv its call defensive driving (riding)..
@@RedHanded1969
Totally agree that the streets have to be redesigned for proper bike lanes to function but over here (Toronto) its a start and like I said, there are projects currently in talks to ban cars in certain parts of Downtown. Europe also started this too. Bicycles should be treated as a vehicle and have the same responsibilities and rights as a motor vehicle.
"His riding style is dangerous bcos he assumed he has the right of way, that is incontradiction to the other drivers mentality"
Dont know why youre saying his riding style is dangerous because......
This cyclist has been staying close to the right right of the road as much as possible
kept enough distance between him and the swaying of doors
0:27 Prius did not acknowledge that a cyclist was behind him and didn't even signal to the right (must signal when changing lanes)
1:02 The cyclist had a right of way but Civic give him that and tried going anyway (if he was in a car i garuntee would have been a different outcome
1:30, 3:03, 3:13, 3:24, 5:32,6:06, 7:46 8:25"wow im just catching every red light", 9:13, 9:30, 10:50, 11:30stopped at every single red light
2:28 Honda Pilot shouldve waitied until both cyclists crossed the road safely (cyclist had right of way)
2:41 dunno wahy the honda odyssey honked, bikes had right of way also was on a bike lane (illegal)
2:46 people on bike lanes is like being on the middle of a busy road (using his bell required for biking)
4:14 perfect example that people dont give cyclists any slack. The man waits for the car but not bike (bicycle is considered a vehcile and has the same rights as motor vehicles)
4:50 Taxi in Bike lane (illegal)
6:38 dangerous driving didnt even indicate to the left too
7:18 cyclist had right of way Audi A4 didnt wait for him
10:05 being aware of his surroundings
7:32 avoided birds (bonus)
got to love toronto lol
Where the civil servants blow stop signs with their children every Family Day!!!!!!!!!
Its not a good day Johnny ..
Why not sir?
This should be and complication of ppl that are not paying attention
It kinda is...
bicyclists should also be made to take a "riders" exam and get a license, and have insurance.
That's going a little far. I don't disagree with the testing and holding them more accountable for breaking the rules but insurance? They're not driving 2000 pound killing machines around like motorists...
@@JohnnyStrides insurance for their own protection as well.
Build the infrastructure first. I will gladly pay insurance then if it’s cheap.
Accidents/Incidents occur because people are impatient, reckless, selfish and distracted.
Just saying.
This is all correct, and pretty evident in the video.
1:38 was seriously an incident to you? Grow up
lol it's an absurd situation to have a non-pedal assisted ebike blow by you in a bike lane.
Keep fishing for reasons to make stupid comments though...
