The "limited time" availibility of the compilation worries me... Selling old/new games full price in limited quantities to pressure people into buying them. This might be the begenning of a very bad trend in the industry.
Yeah it's been a thing for a long time. I got a package of a Kirby collection and it was also limited edition. Especially UA-camr merch are all limited edition. There's a lot of things that are "once they're gone, they're gone forever" until brought back. I kinda hope they only mean the collection is only limited and then after that event the games are sold individually.
Eh, it makes sense imo. The digital launch isn't limited, so the physical copies that ARE limited are therefore more for collectors, from what I understand.
it's a marketing strategy, creating a sense of rarity makes people rush out to buy it more. not sure why they're doing it with this game specifically though?

Honest to God? Just being able to play Super Mario Sunshine again on the Nintendo Switch meaning that it's portable now is just a huge plus for me. And considering the current state of the company right now due to the pandemic with no real way of knowing how it's truely effecting them? I don't really care what comes out this year cause I know they probably haven't made any progress on any real games so I'm not holding my breath for any special announcements cause that's a sure as hell way to be disappointed and considering how shit this year has been? Yeah no, I'm just glad they're even doing the port thing with such classic 3d mario games considering they seem so opposed with doing 3d mario ports at all. I won't defend the limited release thing though, I want to play Sunshine again badly, but... making it a limited release is just greedy no matter how you look at it.
4:19 The naming of the port with the + instantly made me think of Mario & Luigi. Still hoping they'll announce that the series will continue in the future.
The reveal of 3D all Stars made me so happy, combine that with a new mario kart, 3D World deluxe and mario 35, this is probably the best direct in the past 3 years.
Personally I thought it sucked, we just got ports of games we've already played a hundred times with absolutely nothing new about them. And yes some events, merchandise and that living room Karting thing.. But who cares. My dreams of a Sunshine remaster will just go back into the Cave to cry.
@Soupmaster101 I personally like that they kept the order graphics. It gives people who never got to play the old games a chance to play them how they originally were.
"Super Mario 3D All Stars will launch on September 18th. A limited run retail edition and a digital edition of the game will be available for a limited time until the end of March 2021." I hate this with a passion. Why would you make something like this a limited 6-month thing ? The only reason is to resell each game individually at a higher price, at some future date. It's gross. Also no Galaxy 2 is a shame. Overall I'm thrilled we're getting this collection for Switch, but Nintendo's decisions are puzzling.
what I thought they meant by "limited physical run and a digital edition" (since they probably would not have said "a" digital edition if it was in the same category, suggesting it is distinct) was "there's going to be a limited run of physical copies, and it's also going to be available digitally, which will not be limited." I really hope this turns out to be right or that will be a real shame.
@@glaceRaven Nope. They clearly said "A limited run retail edition and a digital edition of the game will be available for a limited time until the end of March 2021." That makes it very clear. That's what they said word for word. Also, in the UK version, it was written on screen : "The package version software is limited-time only production, and the digital version will be limited-time only release until the end of March 2021." Both are limited.
@Marcus _ Makes no sense. The wording does not suggest that at all. It just says it's limited. Besides, from a business perspective, there's no reason to do it. Why have two versions of the collection ? Realistically, the reason to have the collection be limited would be to later sell each game individually, at full price. Essentially this is a 6 month opportunity to get 3 games for 60 dollars. Later on they'll probably sell each one for 60.

The "limited time" availibility of the compilation worries me...
Selling old/new games full price in limited quantities to pressure people into buying them.
This might be the begenning of a very bad trend in the industry.
Beginning?? Gurl this is a CONTINUING trend in the industry
@@juliantapia1407 For big games like this, I haven't seen anything alike
Yeah it's been a thing for a long time. I got a package of a Kirby collection and it was also limited edition. Especially UA-camr merch are all limited edition. There's a lot of things that are "once they're gone, they're gone forever" until brought back.
I kinda hope they only mean the collection is only limited and then after that event the games are sold individually.
@@raymaikeru yeah that's what I'm worried about
Disney has already been doing it for years with their animated movies.
The Stars (and the Shine Sprites!) must have aligned because I'm surprised the rumors were even remotely true

My expectations were steadily decreasing over time, but then they shot back up again as soon as I saw this direct.
They were satisfied.
I see you everywhere and why is it surprising, the Switch is a port machine at this point.

@Calebe Souza I'm willing to bet they'll do a digital only release of Galaxy 2 down the line.

Super hyped, but why limited release? That's...Awful honestly. That needs to change.
Eh, it makes sense imo. The digital launch isn't limited, so the physical copies that ARE limited are therefore more for collectors, from what I understand.

Love how you also were notified of this through a friend message. Same here.
i love how they’re like “disney vaulting” us for the old 3d mario games lol i mean i’ll take it, but i don’t get it~~~
What was the Disney vault?
it's a marketing strategy, creating a sense of rarity makes people rush out to buy it more. not sure why they're doing it with this game specifically though?
fear of missing out boosts sales...
Probably because they’ll be apart of Nintendo switch online at some point. When the 64 and GameCube titles start dropping.
What ls What thats the dream honestly~~ i hope they get there sooooon~~
Arlo got confused by the British date structure for Super Mario 3D World, coming February 12th and thought 12.02.21 meant December 2nd. He thinks it's a holiday title. Heh.

The switch is a rough system for people who've actually owned previous nintendo consoles.
couldnt agree more. its sloppy.
Oh, so the games like mario odyssey, mario maker 2, splatoon 2, etc. Just dont exist, right?
Here’s hoping 2021 actually gives us a bunch of original games.
I mean idk even if you cut out ports the switch still has a better lineups then most maybe all Nintendo consoles’ first 4 years. It is the first console to have both their handheld franchises and home console ones.
@@mreevee7785 Not to mention Luigi's Mansion 3, Animal Crossing New Horizons, Paper Mario Origami King, Smash Ultimate, etc. The switch has had an amazing line-up of new first party games so far. You can't ignore all of those games just because 2020 was kind of a dry year for new releases.

"Please note: Super Mario 3D All-Stars can only be purchased until March 31st 2021. Owners can still play its entire contents after this date has passed, and can also redownload it from Nintendo eShop if the software has been archived."
I decided to go physical instead. At least that way I legit own it.
@@GavinsBazaar313 Bro, that's awesome, thanks for showing me this! I also heard they put Pikmin 3 back on the Wii U, we're making progress! I also agree with Arlo when he said the nice comment “Stop going back to the originals!! I don’t care!! We’re done with this one!!”
mario galaxy was my childhood, when i hear the music i tear up
The thing is: Nintendo shouldn't have made the Remakes limited edition. These games have been on old consoles, like Wii, Gamecube, and N64. For those people who do not have those consoles and want to buy it are missing out on everything.
The wii is not exactly difficult to obtain, the other two I agree though.

@Presley Mpunga everything in the direct except for the mariokart thing and 3d world is limited time only

Everyone: "WHERE IS GALAXY 2?!"
Arlo: "There's not going to be a Galaxy 2, is there?"

Apparently from what I’ve heard from others, all of the All Star games have been limited before.
what I thought they meant by "limited physical run and a digital edition" (since they probably would not have said "a" digital edition if it was in the same category, suggesting it is distinct) was "there's going to be a limited run of physical copies, and it's also going to be available digitally, which will not be limited." I really hope this turns out to be right or that will be a real shame.
GlassyPassiflora Nope, both are limited
Fun fact: Super Mario 3D World doesn't need the gamepad except for the Captain Toad segments that the later Captain Toad games were based on.
I saw the direct and came straight to your channel. When I saw you hadn't posted anything, I was stuck there like: "Wake up, Arlo. Wake Up!!!!"
You stopped the direct in the middle of the medley and you didn’t have my permission to do that!
Mario galaxy is supporting Co-Op, here is the direct quote from the website. “You can also pass a Joy-Con controller to a friend to play the Super Mario Galaxy game in Co-Star Mode!” I don’t know if the co-op is still star bits but this is worth checking out.
But this quote ruins that theory
“ or pass a Joy-Con controller to a friend for some extra help in Co-Star Mode*”
Still a mystery though.
