Hi, could you create a video about the actual process of creating a car setup? There is an endless number of videos, explaining the options, but nobody shows the process. I would like to know: 1. How consitent do i need to drive to have a meaningful comparison vs Fix or reduce the biggest issues to be more consistent in the first place. 2. Priorities/what should i adjust first. 3. If i am trying to stop for example oversteering. When do i look for different settings to fix an issue vs putting or removeing just a ton of wing. 4. Whats a good starting point in most cases. 5. If i change something, what am i looking for besides laptime. Thx for you great content.
Excellent video dude! I like to think I’m moving more towards the ‘intermediate’ level of setup tuning as I am fairly confident what is going to happen when I adjust a particular setting. I’m not always 100% right, but I’m pretty close. However, your video gave an excellent recap and unlike other videos, actually said how to achieve a ‘sweet spot’ for each setting, which really is the key. You dropped in some real ‘Ah ha!’ moments for me I shall now remember when tuning my car setup. Thanks for a great video dude. I’ll be checking out the rest now 😊👍🏽
You and TRL both made the same videos and I've left both feeling empty and not gaining any knowledge. What we need is this: go to a track, use the balance set up and do a lap and explain what you feel or explain how knowledge of the track is already making you think "I need to change the suspension or tyres." You show up to P1 in career mode and you're trying to find a set up. That would be a very helpful video instead of just telling us what these do without any evidence.
Nice finally some real explanations. I am doing all my set ups pretty much on the fly and I never rly understood how Toe and Camber worked. Thy, you def have a new sub here, keep it up
Thanks for the effort. But I m not sure I understand which direction the toe in or out is. Nobody talks about this. So bringing the slider to the right should be toe in right? Positive angles means toe in. Or is it the other way around? Thanks.
no offense but you must havent looked at others yet then....f1 2020 is a GREAT game and it does a perfect job of emulating the SPORT of f1, the race weekends, career mode, etc. but there are probably 5+ true racing sims with better vehicle physics and tire engines
Can you do video on setups for every circuit because I'm not good at doing them especially when I'm racing on controller so I can't recognize what is better in some cases so it would be much appreciated if you do that kind of video
SimRacingSetups just went through these! Great resource. Just curious, are these viable for 50% league race? I’m used to finding setups through time trial that are trash for distance races.
Recently began playing this game, and also with the 3 allowed setups with components. Wanted to know more and saw this video. Very nicely explained but I don't know how to access these track level setups on my iPad. Pls help.
My problem is to understand the camber thing. which value shows me the highest possible camber, means when do you have less tire contact surface? -2.50 or -3.50 Should also be better for straight speed right, but more tire wear and less brake grip in heavy braking zones? It confuses me a little bit which the negative values.
What Tommy said is true. The more negative you go the less contact your tyre has in a straight line. This means you have less straight line traction, but will have more grip during corners as the car leans in to the tyre.
I would go with a dry setup as the race is more important. You can adjust your diff and front wing between race and quali, so you can run more wing and less on-throttle diff for quali and reset them for the race.
Is there a way to save setups so like if you want one with more downforce or one to get more speed is there a way to save that setup or do you manually at each track have to remake it
Sadly I wish there was more variety in setups, no matter what I'm always faster in a race when I load one of the top time trial setups compared to trying to make my own. The difference in handling and tyre wear also seems pretty minimal to matter.
Thanks for the comment man. :) We like to have a grippy front end, and think this is the fastest way around 50%+ of circuits. There are exceptions to this, as there are a fair few tracks which definitely require more rear aero.
I also wondered why as Tom97 always goes rear biased, interesting to hear all advice on this. Great channel (subbed) and excellent content, appreciate the guides, very helpful 👍🏻
@@bikerforever68 Hey Paul, The more we play, the more rearward our aero setup becomes. There are still a fair few tracks which benefit from a front biased aero, but as you will see from our setup videos, a lot are rear biased now. And thank you for the sub!

Hi I am a new subscriber. Question. I am new at the game and just bought it. The first race is in Australia and it's a pretty easy grid. But when I am in the 3de training session the session before the qualifine my gearbox is already at 95 procent so basically when I do the qualifine I can't do it because my engine /gearbox falls down. How can I fix it?! Because my race ingénieur always tells me I am riding to hard and it wears down my transmission. What am doing wrong?! Thank you.
@@SimRacingSetups Would protecting the tyres be optimal for during races, because I had the fastest lap in qualy against my mates but during the race I just couldnt keep up
Yo man is -3.50 high camber or lower camber, not sure because it says minimum but you said more negative camber is towards the car, just a little confused on that one
Yea camber terminology is a bugger because it’s always negative haha. The lower the number (remember it’s negative so -3 is lower than -2) the more angle the wheel has.
Yea camber terminology is a bugger because it’s always negative haha. The lower the number (remember it’s negative so -3 is lower than -2) the more angle the wheel has.
You can't really apply most of what you mentioned for controller racers. If you go for more front downforce, you will start over steering in faster corners and in combination with your suspension setup just spin out almost immediately. The toe and camber part might have been misunderstood by me, thanks to my rather poor English, but the standard where I start while working on a track setup is camber max to the right and toe max to the left changing that ever so slightly to see how I can get the most amount of grip out of corners. After that comes the differential tuning, where off throttle diff is the more important since you cannot change that mid race/session - the higher the better - without compromising preapex grip. The only part I mostly agree with you is brakes and Tyre pressure, although your explanation is a little lacking towards the benefits of high Tyre pressure. With a racewheel this might be a good guide but for controller casuals this can be very misleading. Thx for the effort~
I never got why on earth higher pressures would lead to increased temps. Should be the other way around: softer tyres equal more flex and greater conctact patch resulting in a highter temperature.
Higher pressures put more pressure through the tyre while driving which increases the temperatures. Lower pressures increase the contact patch, reduce temperatures and increase traction at the expense of responsiveness.
i'm having tire psi lowest, but my front tires are still running on 103-105. What else can i do to lower front tire temps, if i already have tire pressure in minumum?
@@SimRacingSetups cant lower anythin, front suspension is 1, and front toe 0.05, tire PSI minimum. I guess its just Zandvoort in clear weather and my driving style. This are temps on mediums, not even softs. Thanks for your reply ✌
@@SimRacingSetups I generally also add a bit more percentage to the off-throttle diff in the wet, to reduce oversteer at corner entry of slow speed corners and also mid-corner high speed corners were you would need to lift.
At 4:45 you mention lift-off oversteer. I never get that on F1 2020 (or 2019), and actually never get any corner-entry oversteer, no matter the setup or how bad I try to throw the car out of control. The only way to get oversteer in these games is through power oversteer, which actually felt exaggerated on F1 2019 and was thankfully reduced on F1 2020. This is the biggest fault of F1 games compared to other sims: it simulates power oversteer, and on pretty much every other situation you go over the limit all you get is understeer.
Compared both games, letting off throttle completely in very slow speed I felt like 2019 the car had way more turning radius, 2020 the car feels like a big boat.
Great video. A lot of other setup videos just repeat the Codemasters text on the right hand side, which is never clear. This was really informative
