      I had addressed this on a previous comment so I apologize for not seeing this thread right away. I guess my wording here was a bit messy. Essentially, you'd be removing non-selling items from advertising all together so that your overall budget is more evenly distributed across the listing (or listings) that have started selling. The animations here of dollars being moved from one listing to another may have not been the best visual.
      I'm a one woman show with scripting, recording, editing, and creating every animation and visual. So I think I just didn't execute the visual correctly here. 😅

      Yeah, I hear this a lot unfortunately! Etsy ads work for some people, but many report seeing LESS sales when using them. The Etsy ads algorithm is completely different than their standard search algorithm, and unfortunately Etsy shares VERY little about how the ads algorithm works. It's exactly why I get so frustrated when UA-camrs teach "$1,000/day budgets" to new sellers. There is absolutely no way to gauge if those ads are going to work, so it's better to start small and test SLOWLY.

      I wish I knew - but Etsy doesn't share anything about how this data is used or if it even makes a difference in how ads are displayed. If the goals have an impact, it isn't something that they've disclosed to my knowledge.

    Great video! Thanks! Recently I ran ads and got quite a lot of sales on a couple of items, but then, I ended up OWING Etsy money! That sucked. Now without ads, those items have gotten some favorites, but no sales. They are ranking on the front page of my niche... Definitely frustrating. But I'm going to go through and do some more analysis and see whats up.

    Thank you, Starla, for all your valuable advice and teachings from which I have learned so much. I have a question: Is your advice to focus on best sellers useful if the daily budget is completely exhausted? I have a $10 daily budget for my entire inventory (almost 500 items) but I don't use it all. I wanted to follow your advice to allocate it only to my best sellers, but I wonder if it makes sense in my case since I don't exhaust the budget anyway. Might as well promote everything to give visibility to other listings too so they don't get "forgotten" by the algorithm. What do you think? Thanks, Floriana from Italy

    • @AdsyBoost
      @AdsyBoost Місяць тому

      Really appreciate what Starla is sharing 💝 @florianazullo1171, I am not sure if I got well your question: you mean that your challenge now is rather that the $10 daily budget is not all used? I had the same challenge sometimes and just by testing I've seen that increasing the daily budget for example from $10 to $100 caused a higher spend, like for example $30. But as Starla said, you should track if those money are spent in a profitable way. I am tracking even daily and established some spending thresholds per listing. If the threshold is passed without sales or bad ROAS, I disable that listing from ads.

      Hi, thank yoy for answering.
      Sorry, but maybe I'm having trouble explaining myself because I'm Italian and I'm using ChatGPT to translate. Unfortunately, I don't have enough clicks to use my entire daily budget of $10, so does it make sense to allocate my budget to my best sellers? Since they don't exhaust the budget, if I allocated it all to them, the rest of the budget would be wasted. However, if I spread it across the entire inventory, I ensure that the rest can also gain some visibility.
      Or, if I focus on a few products, does Etsy give them an even stronger boost, making them appear more easily in searches? In that case, even for me (since I don't use up the entire budget), it would be reasonable to focus only on the best sellers. I hope this is clear 😀

    I sell mostly handmade silicone molds, so now what would you suggest I do when knowing that Etsy is into localisation if I told you that 95% of my sales have always been to the US with 30-40 sales a week, unfortunately when Etsy decided on only showing listings that are actually in the US and near to a buyer's location (unless the buyer wants to see what else is out there no matter the country), my sales tanked by half making between 14-17 sales per week. As of when Etsy started their "gift " campaign my sales have tanked to 7-8 sales a week. Now about ADs, I had great success when we could decide on amount per click but when this wasn't option was taken away, sales that were generated from the ADs were few and far between even though I was advertising only my best sellers and were starting to cost me. Shipping across Canada is very expensive so advertising is useless unless told otherwise like they could still be worth it?

    How do you assign more or less money to one of the items? We get only one amount that we can change - that's a daily spend on adds. We can't change our add bids anymore or has something changed recently and is applied only to a select few?

      OOAK sellers will have a bit of difficulty, as Etsy's algorithm already favors items in search that have sold multiple times. As a OOAK seller, you won't have the benefit of building up listing quality scores. Instead, your overall "customer and marketplace experience score" has to be high enough to build an overall reputation with Etsy, which will grow by maintaining a good standing with Etsy (shipping on time, maintaining positive reviews, no cases against you, etc).
      For ads, again, it's still a bit of a gamble because you're running without a proof of concept. I would primarily focus on items that are similar in nature to those that have sold in the past, if possible. I'm not sure what you sell but if you have a specific "type" of item that sells better than others, even if each item is OOAK, I would focus more of your budget on items that are most similar to those that have sold in the past.

    If you have not made a sale at all. You shouldn't be intrigued by Etsy adds. It's nonsense. If you are not selling organically, what makes you think you'll sell, with adds.
    Don't waste your money or time with this. Instead, spend your time on the more important aspects of your shop.

    • @StarlaMoore
      @StarlaMoore  5 місяців тому +2

      I completely agree. You need that proof of concept. Without it, you have no insights into what customers actually want. I only covered a strategy for those who want to "gamble blind" because so many people insist on doing it. And advertising items that have at least a small amount of traction is better than advertising every single listing, just hoping something will stick.

      Unfortunately this question is a matter of preference. There's no golden rule for your budget. It's a bit like asking, "How much should you bet at the casino?" The answer is - the amount your most comfortable spending, but don't bet the whole house. Start small and work your way up. More will equal more exposure overall, but it's probably best to ensure that your proof of concept is solid before investing too much. You can always increase your budget later.

      Offsite ads are an optional feature that allows your product ads to be seen on outside platforms such as Facebook. For sellers who have made over $10,000 on Etsy in any given year, offsite ads are forever mandatory. However, with offsite ads, you are only charged if your ad results in a sale. So man sellers see great success with them.
