Etsy has sellers working as slaves. Let me elaborate. If I sell 4 shirts a month at $30 each. I have to pay shipping -$5, $4 fees, $4 taxes, $7 shirt blank, which leaves me with $10, but wait you pay $2 day in advertising and by the end of the month you owe Etsy $20! You spend all that time making the shirt and you did it all for free.
I just raised my prices to include my time and taxes (I was just charging for materials). It's dead now, but I'm happy I'm going to get what it's worth.
This video was super helpful. I’m curious to know if you have some advice for shops that have committed these things that would bury their store. Is there a way to come back from it? Would you recommend starting over an opening a new store? What are your tips and tricks to be like the undertaker and come back from some of these deadly mistakes.
There is no way to damage an existing shop beyond repair, as long as you haven't accumulated a bunch of negative reviews. Every new listing is a new opportunity, since each new listing gets a boost. My advice is to do your best to learn from the mistakes you've made in the past and improve along the way with every new item you list. If you have past listings that you feel need a refresh but you're unsure of were to start, check out this video. It covers my recommended process-of-elimination to figure out why a listing isn't selling: ua-cam.com/video/1Vss_67_Ok8/v-deo.html
Hi! Quick question, can you repeat the same title for multiple mug or shirt listings and also repeat the same description for each of the listings? This makes it easy for bulk listing uploads but I am running into indexing issues and even with etsy ads, I don't get any views. Can you please do a video about this 🙏
My Etsy shop has not been suspended, but why have my sales dropped so dramatically. In June I had my best sales month ever, in July I sold half the amount as the previous month, then in August only 3 sales and now 3 weeks into September and no sales so far. All I heard from Etsy was that I needed to brighten my photos, which I did. How do I fix my sales.
Just curious when you say Etsy gives a boost to a new listing- does that mean right away after posting? I find none of my new listings seem to get any favourites or anything for quite awhile after posting but when once they do, they start taking off with more favs, purchases, etc but it can take months it seems. Thanks for all your awesome videos!! You’re so clear and concise with no fluff.
I have a question for doing a makeover to old listings (that don't do well at all). Would you recommend to rather just copy the listing, make all the changes in titles, tags and everything, push that out as a new listing and deactivate the old one, OR just make the changes on the existing listing? What would you recommend to do. 😅 I'm just a bit confused what would be better and "quicker" since you said that it can take a looooong time for Etsy to reevaluate for whom the listing is and what it is. 😊 Thanks anyways for the great video (as always ❤)
If making changes, I would change the original item. However, don't change too much at once. However, if you want to do some A/B Testing, you can make a copy and make changes to the copied one and leave both active to see how they perform compared to each other.
Hi, So If I have a listing/listings that are doing well but they do not have any Christmas words or tags, should I just copy that listing and make a new one using some Christmas tags or Christmas words in the title as opposed to changing a tag or two on a listing that is doing well? I sell jewelry so all of my listings can be bought as gifts. Also, when making future listings, should I put a tag in it that is good for the next upcoming holiday, and then when the holiday changes to the next, I can just change out that one tag or is that a bad idea? My reasoning for doing it that way would be because the listing and what it's being found for shouldn't change except for that one holiday tag. For the rest of the year I would still continue to be found for all the regular words from the listing, so if I get found for say Valentine's Day in February, but not in July that will be ok bc many wont be searching for Valentines day gifts in July anyway. Example -In January, I list a silver bead bracelet using 12 tags with regular jewelry tags and then one tag with "Valentine Gifts" and then in June/July I change the "Valentines Gifts" tag to "4th of July Gifts" and then in Sept. "Halloween Gifts", etc. I hope that made sense! Thank you!

Making a copy has no impact on the original listing. Think of "copies" as new listings. You're essentially using your existing listing as a template, so A/B split testing with new photos on a listing copy is totally fine.
