I really like your show, I’m an unhealthy 62 year old man and I have been looking at all kinds of options to just travel non stop until I can no longer do it anymore. I don’t have the budget you all have but in my mind I believe I can drive and enjoy a couple hundred miles a day. You have inspired me and as soon as I find the right van I will be on my way.

The water droplets in your hair, were condensation of your breath as it hit the cold surface about you, condensed and formed droplets, and then fell back down on you. A big problem on boats, too.

So glad everything worked out well. I’m very relieved for the two of you. You have such nice, loving, supportive family. What a wonderful blessing! You did a fabulous job putting that insulation in. I bet that will be very helpful for both winter and summer. love the name and I also love that you’re keeping the Facebook group the same name because I believe in the same things you do when it comes to getting outdoors and enjoying nature. Great choices!!! ❤️
Update: I was finishing watching the video. My three year old granddaughter and five year old grandson heard it and said, “Is that Cody and Kellie? Did they get their truck fixed? We love to watch Cody and Kellie!” So you have some young fans. lol

I would suggest holding onto an old Dome tent, and putting it up outside from time to time at your campsites.
They are cute, it's your brand, and I think it shows loyalty.
Handy outdoor storage, maybe even an occasional sleepover

Wow! Huge difference between diagnoses and price points! I’m so glad getting a second opinion worked in your favor. It is always wise to get a second opinion. It will be very strange to visit the Cody and Kellie channel instead of visiting Dome Life. I love the Dome Life name, but do understand your approach. It makes a ton of sense. Now, … the insulation. I am shocked that the manufacturer put NOTHING up there! I also have the same condensation and cold issues on the curved nose wall of my travel trailer, so you can bet I’ll be investigating how I can open it up and improve insulation on that wall. Its adjacent to my bed and freezing in colder temps, while even the bathroom with a plastic dome skylight is warmer. Hmmm. Thanks for sharing how you took care of that task. Merry Christmas to you and yours!!!

Glad you got the truck fixed :). Maybe you should look into some 35 to 20% tint for your windows of your camper to help with your light issues or you can take some cardboard or foam cutouts of the windows with some reflector on the window side, thats what i did for my travel trailer when i lived in 1 :). That insulation will really help. Stay warm and safe, love watching you guys :).

I have been using truck mounted campers since 1978. All were on Chevrolets. I did not have problems with any of the trucks. As I replaced campers with new models the quality of the campers got worse. The one I have now is the Cirrus 620 all weather. Yes it is small but I am now camping alone so it is just right for me. When on long extended trips I pull a cargo trailer with more than I should carry in it. But it works for me.

I did not see if you did this, but when you put the insulation in the front window wall, make sure it is not stuffed. Insulation is designed to not be compacted, it is the fluffed air area in the insulation that lets it work to get the designed R value. People think you could install 6" insulation in a 2x4 wall and it will be better and it will not be. Good job getting the truck back and I too don't trust any dealership.

For moisture under bed.... the Froli system (see NuCamp Tab 400) is s'posed to be awesome. It is also a spring system for comfort with red inserts to add for firmer feel. However, the insulation would prolly have to go under a platform that would hold the Froli system. Food for thought if you still have condensation underneath.

I was told the max the Palomino can handle is 38-35 but honestly ours can’t handle 40s well… for black out we have a reflective material that covers all the windows and the fan above the bed. Do a cp3 conversion if you can’t afford it use Hot shots lubricious extreem or Amzol in your fuel . Fuel doesn’t lubricate the pump with newer EPA formulas. CP 4 pumps are more prone to failure because of that. Also install a Exenergy fuel metering valve, it has a finer micron screen that will catch shavings and plug up before they contaminate your system. They have disaster kits for Fords . Research for more info. By the way 70-80 MPH with a big camper like that is crazy 🤪

Google CP4 fuel pump issues. All three major truck manufacturers have lawsuits pending because they used a pump known to have issues with the low sulfur diesel fuel in the US. Ford has used these pumps for years. GM and Ram have finally moved away from the CP4 because of so many failures. A lot of times none of them would warranty the repair even if the truck was still under warranty because their stance on it was that the low sulfur fuel was the cause of the pump failing. Hence the lawsuits. It is around a $12,000 repair. Some go out with high miles, some go out with not even 10,000 miles.

The 6.7's CP4 pump is a known issue and a possible catastrophic failure, the preventative aftermarket system is around $400 well worth the invrestment

I'm relieved your truck situation wasn't more complex. A friend who used to own an auto repair shop told me to bring my vehicle to him if it has issues and never to a dealership.

Hi Cody & Kellie. We have a Palomino Backpack HS 8801. It was recently at the dealership for a repair on the fiberglass front. That was totally replaced because it had a crack in it that was spreading. But, while it was there and taken apart, the dealership stuffed a bunch of insulation in that front area for us because they knew we camped in cold weather. We haven't tried it yet but I'm hoping we experience success as you have already. So glad everything worked out with the truck for you. By the way, we are a Ford family. Our palomino sits on a long bed crew cab F250. Love it!!
    God bless, be safe!

Kelli, if you need more insulation for your window,. Instead of ordering more from wherever you got it, they sell the same material as a windshield solar reflector material I would imagine any auto parts store. Good luck to both of you, and God bless.

Just came across your channel. You guys seem like amazing people. Glad the truck is running great. I lived in an RV for a couple of years and now have a Jumping Jack trailer that my son and I camp in. Thanks for doing this story. If you're in Western Colorado, stay in Grand Junction, there's tons of outdoor things to do. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Take the black tape you used sticky side out and wrap around your fingers then tap your body and clothes with tape where you are itching and it will pickup the fiberglass on your skin

If it was me, I would have added a vapor barrier of plastic or that roll insulation or something in between the insulation and the exterior of your camper. I would suspect that you will end up with some mold growth starting between those two areas. The new insulation will help allot but the moisture will develop. Just a thought I had. I hope that helps. Granted it would be bear to take it back out and add a moisture barrier, but it beats breathing in the mold spores right at your face all night. Enjoy your time on the road. If you ever make it to Eugene,OR,let us know. We have a full hookup waiting for you in the country while you explore the covered bridges and the old mines.
    God Bless and Merry Christmas

They make a filter you can add to the truck that will prevent the metal in fuel situation. If metal gets in line it catches it and saves the fuel getting full of debris

Tou should have a small line on the center of the tailgate and camper to line up when you load.

If you’ve never looked into it, the Froley sleep system is pretty great. It’s like a bunch of little plastic springs under your mattress. Seems to help a ton with moisture issues. Someone had installed it in the camper I have currently and it is definitely a game changer. I imagine since it adds an air gap, it adds an extra layer of insulation as well. Just spent four months on the road and never had any moisture buildup under the mattress.

I run the Froli System as well. Also I use 3m Thinsulate for insulation additions- no itchy fibreglass to deal with.

I'm glad you went and got a second opinion why don't you put a mark in the center of that camera and in the center of the camper and have a backup camera so you can just back up and line the mark up with the truck and then you know you're centered make your job a lot easier
