Great reaction! Can't wait for the next one - it's a favorite of mine. When I first see PTX videos, sometimes I just stare in amazement, and sometimes I get all soppy, and it would be hard to share those honest emotions with others. So, thanks for taking us on this journey with you.

I was disappointed that none of the judges mentioned it--at least, not in the part of their (edited) remarks that was shown on TV. However, if you watch when they briefly show the judges (just after 4:00), you can see Sara turn toward Shawn in reaction.
Loved it. A quick background about the upcoming performances - from here out, there were two per night. This is especially important to keep in mind with 7 & 8, as the producers play up some drama with performance 7 that is actually still in effect for 8, but people who react to them separately often miss that. I’m not going to give away details, but some behind-the-scenes decision making about the 8th performance is easier to infer if you remember that they had two performances (and a big group performance to open the show) in the 2 hour show.
The shocking thing is how totally different they were compared to the other groups and how hard that is to imagine now. I'm pretty sure I remember few to none of the other groups having a beatboxer at all (the next season after they won ALL the groups had one). Also, other than the one group that was a straight up Doo Wop group, no other group had less than like 8 or 9 members. Whereas PTX basically, in most ways, only had three voices harmonizing at once (Avi being part of the percussion about 75% of the time). But that made them so much tighter than every other group. And that's before we even got to the arrangements. This was before Ben Bram (who actually worked on this show), but Scott and Kevin in particular had millions of ideas. Ideas totally out of the box compared to what was normal for a capella singing then.
Uhhh, I could freak out for weeks at a time and not come near to sounding like any of them on their worst days. It's a shame to be so find of music and be so musically challenged. :)
Thank you for another great reaction. Seamless mashups are a hallmark of PTX. It is something they are really good at and there will be a great example of that later on. What Sarah said is really on point too. They refuse to accept anything from themselves, bot individually and as a group, that is not their very best which is another reason they are so good. This particular performance is a good one but the next one is a killer! Can't wait for your next Sing Off reaction.

I can't tell you how many times I have watched this - I bought the season on Amazon. And yours is not the first reaction to it I've watched. But you are the first to mention Boys2Men. I never listened to them, or any of the boy bands, so I saw Sarah and Sean's reaction and didn't know why they reacted. I've learned something tonight. Thank you.

I'm going to start now petitioning for you to react to the video of the winner being announced after you've reacted to all the performances. The video is a full 19 minutes long but it is so worth it. Way too many reviewers don't react to it and they are truly missing out. There were some really great groups. There was a panel discussion of PTX at a fan convention with the parents of Scott, Mitch and Kirsten. They recounted their experience watching their kids compete in the Sing-Off. Note, Scott, Mitch and Kirsten were 19 years old! Mitch had to skip his high school graduation to audition for the show! Scott and Mitch's Dad recounted how that when they saw another group perform on their first competition night, they each thought "Oh well, golly gee, our kids gave it a really great try!" They thought they would be cut that fast! Also, the winners were decided by phone votes. Their last rival on the last night was a really huge group. You can imagine each group members family and friends calling to vote! PTX really could have lost. Scott was a Freshman going to college in LA, Kirsten in Kansas, Mitch might have gone back to Texas, Avi back to Northern Californina and Kevin' might have gone God knows where. He had just gotten his undergraduate degree from Yale in East Asian Studies. He won major awards for his saxophone playing, cello playing and is fluent in Chinese. No one less than Yo Yo Ma himself complimented Kevin on his cello playing! So PTX winning takes longer than my lengthy writing, but SO WORTH IT. You really can feel the terror and suspense. It explains so much about this group and the amazing and humble people that make it magic.
Just as a balancing out to see Pentatonix's competition for that week, check out the Dartmouth Aires' Queen Medley (Probably the best one of all the groups for that week). Week 6, for the most part, made the 2011 Sing-off a 2 group competition
Mr. Stockman was right, all of the performances for this particular week, were pretty fun to watch... but the Dartmouth Aires' Medley was another ridiculous high level performance that was a lot of fun.
A completely different direction of music you could go into for reactions might be Panic! At The Disco/Brendan Urie. If you are already familiar with P!ATD, ignore this comment. But the range in styles from one album to the next is completely insane. And Brendan Urie is a magical performer! Again, i love your reaction videos. Even when you don’t have a ton of extra to add, your face is responsive. I thoroughly enjoy it.
I am very familiar with Panic! What a lot of my subs dont understand is I'm very multi genre, so some people claim to have never heard people for the views I cant do that because I listen to EVERYTHING from the 20's to present day.
Official DramaSydE i love that you are well rounded musically. I feel like i am as well. I can appreciate every type of music because of the talent involved even if i don’t particularly love the actual song or genre. You are very well versed musically. You remind me of my uncle! It’s so funny. Besides that you look a bit like him, but you make similar facial expressions and your puns and the giggle are so exactly like him! Haha he lives across the country from me so i enjoy watching your videos for that reason also. He is also musically inclined and well rounded. Anyways i love it. Keep up the great work. :)
See now, PTX--at least the trio--have said that this is the least favorite of their own performances on The Sing-Off. That they never want to see it again. But I don't get why. Whether these are songs that they would choose to cover today or not, this is an incredible arrangement and a stellar performance. NOTHING at all for them to be ashamed of or embarrassed about. These seamless transitions are a precursor of their legendary "Evolution of" videos.

Is my hearing off or what? I've never heard ANYONE mention this, but to me, Avi says "It's PentaTime," and Ben Folds (mis)quotes him as saying "Pentatonix." Am I wrong? I don't blame Ben; he's got lots of things to listen to at the same time. I'm just so surprised that no one mentions it that now I'm beginning to doubt myself.
I think Avi just cuts himself off because he has to go back to bass right after that. It sometimes happens to Scott in Love Again when he says "work" too.
