It’s been posted that Simon & Garfunkel’s version is one of sadness, Disturbed’s version is one of rage, and that Pentatonix’ version is one of hope. The more I listen the more I agree with that assessment.
I don't think Disturbed's version is one of rage at all. Actually, their version is my favorite.
@@dollofvoodoo I am not attacking Disturbed’s version of the song. I am merely agreeing with someone’s assessment of the underlying tone of the 3 versions mentioned. All songs speak to us individually, what I feel from a song may not be what someone else feels. Our personalities, life experiences, cultures, and even current mood all influence how a song is received by us.
I don't like disturbed version because I don't like being yelled at. 😒
@@jenniferlucas3540 Another comment I saw reckoned that the original has a warning tone, Disturbed's version follows the consequences of that warning not being heeded. Perhaps PTX's version could be hope for rebuilding after those consequences.
The original was a watch, Disturbed a Warning, Pentatonix is the disaster adverted. We can only hope!
You should check out their rendition of “Bohemian Rhapsody”!! It’s on point👌🏼 there’s not a sound they missed in recreating it 💯🔥

@@Juber777 PTX has won 3 Grammy awards. Their Daft Punk medley was done on a $400 budget. Recorded in a closet, filmed in a kitchen, edited on a laptop in one of 3 apartments between the 5 members. Grammy #2 is for Dance of the sugar plum fairy. A song with no words, sung by a band with no instruments. Grammy #3 Jolene with Dolly Parton. Filmed in 3 takes. PTX doesn't do covers, they do upgrades.
“Mad World” has more of those bell tones that you love! Also, in “Imagine” their voices sound like handbells! Great reaction! 😁

They absolutely understand how to create a hook, drama how to climax a song..they make songs they sing emotional and exciting
A thing I love about PTX is their "attacks and transitions" - These guys come in *EXACTLY* on the beat, *EXACTLY* on pitch, *EXACTLY* in unison, and they do it every. last. time. Even when they're singing five different pitches in complicated chords with harmonies going in different directions, they all hit their transitions at exactly the same instant and they all get their pitches exactly. From the very first millisecond of every new note, they are precisely on pitch. And they do it without sounding like robots. (I mean, unless they want to sound like robots - Daft Punk for example).
Each singer in Pentatonix, are phenomenal vocalists, in their own right, although, when put together, it feels like Angels have come down, from Heaven, to perform for us 💕💕💕

Their version of Amazing Grace is a spiritual experience. It literally brought me to tears because of its sheer beauty.

You should check out one of their originals. My personal favorite is Sing, but they're all pretty good. I know you like live performances, so you would probably like the live video of Cracked (another original) from the I Heart Radio awards a few years back.

I love when Matt, the new bass goes from the upper part of his range to the lower at the end of his part. Gives me chills every time.
The very cool part of the others versions is that they are all different. Simon and Garfunkel is like the alarm being raised PTX is the warning and Disturbed version is like the bell tolls, it is here. Love all 3 of those But something special by PTX is those bell chords they use...they have no weaknesses vocally.
This is why people say that Pentatonix doesn't do covers, they do upgrades.

This is much closer to Simon and Garfunkel/ the originals. Paul Simon did that part you like on acoustic guitar. He is a world class finger picking style guitarist.
About Mitch: "His voice is so good guys" - This is a lovely song, but you ain't seen nothin' yet. Mitch can hit whistle notes. I think officially he can go as high as A5. I love all of them, but Mitch has one heck of a voice.

Pentatonix = perfection. “New rules x are you that somebody” also uses the bell tones and kevin and matt kick ass with the bass and beat. It’s one of my favs that showcase them. Great reaction. I love seeing you get so animated about a song. It really is astounding.

Hello Mr.Lboyd, Thank you for reacting to this one from PTX. Pure Pentatonix Perfection. The third singer, the bass is Matt, he replaced the original bass Avi in 2017. The bell tones, the layering and stacking of the vocals, the PTX wall of sound, the crescendo. The passion when they sing. All perfect. Loved your reaction "This is why they are them" - have not heard it expressed like that before, but you got it exactly right. Have you reacted to PTX versions of The Prayer, Amazing Grace , Can You Feel The Love Tonight, Mary Did You Know or Bohemian Rhapsody, yet?
Their Popspring 2016 concert has three original songs and their Evolution of Michael Jackson. It is great to react to. Many reactors do it in one reaction. It is about 15 minutes long. The Pentaholics love it. And their originals are great!!! Keep reacting to to them. 💕💕
I find with this song I go to the original by Simon & Garfunkel if I just want a mood, to Pentatonix if I’m looking for musical interplay, but to Disturbed if I want to bring the meaning home.
Oh my! Just checked which PTX reactions you've done so far. I knew it wasn't a lot, but you've barely scraped the surface. You in for one heck of a ride! I would suggest some of their early covers, their evolution videos, and some of their originals. Some of my favorites are Can't Hold Us (Macklemore cover), Sing! (Original), Evolution of Michael Jackson, Evolution of Music, White Winter Hymnal, Carol of the Bells, Aha! (both the music video and the live in Singapore)...just to get started! I am so happy you finally heard this song by them. The other version of this song is by Simon & Garfunkel the original of course, but Disturbed does this song too and his version is also incredible. On a personal note, each artist/s gives a very good rendition of this song. But the versions are I think different and really cannot be compared. How can you choose one? I guess for me it is how wonderful it sounds to my ears and the feeling that I get (awestruck) every time I hear that song by them; for me it is Pentatonix's version! Gives me goosebumps every time!

I vote you go all the way back to when they won their season on The Sing Off... they started out pretty perfect
Simon and Garfunkel gave the world a warning, Disturbed admonished the world for not hearing the warning, and now PTX gives hope that we can still make the world better. All from the same words and basic melody. PTX is a true exception in the world of music, they are a band that is 90% of the time acapella. 3 Grammys in 2 different categories. Daft Punk Melody(arrangement), Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy(instrumental), and Jolene(Country duo). So I guess they do have a bit of talent(Pentaholic, so I am bias). My favorite challenge to any new reactor, look at the PTX discography, pick a song you truly dislike the original, and one that you thing the original could never be done better, listen to each of them(reactions for us out here) and give your opinion on PTXs upgrades.

It’s truly amazing what Pentatonix can do!! They are all so beautifully talented and were so very nice when I met them.
They sound live the same as in studio recordings. They are genuinely legit.
Only acapala group I know is Home Free. They also do awesome music. Beyond that all I know of this band is Avi was loved very much by Lindsey Stirling. They do make a beautiful harmony. Full credit and I am suitably impressed.

They are really awesome!!! One of my personal favorites is Wizard of Ahhhs. With Toddrick Halls. It’s basically a 8 minute remake of Wizard of Ozz with modern songs , it’s incredible. But you really can’t go wrong with any of their songs. They truly deserve that star on broadway.
Avi, the former bass, left the group amicably in 2017 to spend more time with his family and focus on his solo work. He just came out with an EP. The other four were on their own for a bit until Matt Sallee joined the group.
