      More idols should do this so people will see this side of them because I think people dont realize the fact that they are human too and have feelings. Like you said they are not worlds away they are just like you and I. That's why I dislike gossip and sasengs because just because they are idols and make it big doesnt mean they stop being human.

      I totally agree with you. Content like these make me realize how human they actually are and how they at some point went through similar things as me. The question I've been wondering the most is, how do they do it? How do they keep up with everything and do so well? I know there's A LOT of pressure and that's exactly what I want to talk about. If I ever get to meet an idol I would want to ask so many questions and just listen to their story. Their true story. Right from their heart.

    Initially, cancel culture was used to call out actual trash/toxic people but in recent times it’s changed into something more. Now it’s used irrationally & incorrectly & it leads to a lot of unnecessary damage. I won’t lie though, Peniel was very right. Cancel culture can be educational to a *certain extent*. People do make mistakes and hopefully learn/grow from them, however when said people refuse to acknowledge their mistakes, it shows what type of person they truly are. I hope we could eventually change cancel culture into something more progressive & educational.

    • @hanji5402

      Right now I feel like those people who make « call out » tweets/ posts just want the approval of the people around, like « Omg facts » « Queen », stuff like that, they just want people to acknowledge them

    • @jarinemarrane
      @jarinemarrane 4 роки тому +12

      That's how I feel as well. Some things that are called out are indeed wrong, they need to be acknowledged and not be repeat again. But sometimes, people are canceled over small things that are easily fixed.
      I see stuff like that on Twitter nearly every time an idol/group has a comeback and many accounts are goaded by others to not stan them because they're "problematic," listing this and that to prove that they're horrible people.

    • @seherkhan7736
      @seherkhan7736 4 роки тому +12

      Totally agree. It’s like some people just learned the term cancel culture and are now throwing it around when someone makes a genuine mistake. Also when people try to better themselves or apologize a lot of people don’t hear them out bc they’re “cancelled” and it’s really damaging. People should call others out if they’re doing something that hurts a group of people but not completely bash and degrade them like some people do now

      I feel like we should honestly just say "Accountability culture" 'cause some folks out here are consistently harming others, make non apologies and never change. Then there's also folks who've done things like target children to groom them or pressure children to send in NSFW images of themselves-and those folks really need to be held accountable along with not having such a big platform. When back in the day the same folks would've just gotten away with it.
      (Unfortunately some of the people doing actual crimes against humanity still have a platform.)

    okay, i dunno who needs to hear this and imma sound like a mom rn, but to those people who are thinking of meeting someone you met online, make sure to share your location with your fam or friends, google maps has an option to share your location where they can see it in real time. also, this is prob obvious, but let people know basic details about the person, where you're going, what time you're supposed to meet, etc, you can never be too safe in those situations! and like they said meet somewhere public, not the back alley of a MCD lol

      fatethebean true. Cancel culture is not perfect. But this is just one way for people to be held accountable since “regular” people have no power over celebrities or people in power. So i think people in this comment section and the speakers in this video should see cancel culture as not black or white but more gray. This is one way people can only get justice. Unfortunately some ppl who don’t deserve to get cancelled do get cancelled.
      WE NEED MORE NUANCE. And critical thinking.

I hope we all gonna be careful and more respectful with each other, case we start attacking others people without knowing of us like how they look or they dancing Skills when we have no right to judge anyone for anything except light them up about their mistakes, let’s be more careful and positive with everyone 🙏🏽💙💙🤍🤍

    yess i used to relate to ashley about the thing about obsessing over instagram captions and photos and how my feed would look. years ago, i would spend hours trying to think of a witty caption and edit the picture in a way that would make both me and my feed look nice. i remember, one day, i realized that i literally spent HOURS obsessing over how to make this one instagram post look good, and that's when i told myself that i will no longer post on instagram anymore. i cared way too much about what other people thought. i don't even have a pfp on instagram anymore because i don't have a photo of myself that i like, and i can't be bothered to spend an unnecessary amount of time trying to find one. literally, people don't even take more than 5 seconds looking at your pfp and your ig posts. i don't even spend more than 5 seconds looking at someone's photos. i really just like their photo and go

    I've been off social media for 6 months now (even on UA-cam I turned off notifications of likes and comment replies) and it was the best decision ever. I think we all forget we used to read the news, to talk to our friends and to share our achievements before social media came around. There is life outside of it.
    I'm fortunate enough to not need it for my professional career, but honestly I couldn't justify the amount of time I used to spend there. It's time I'll never get back and that I could use to be a better person, to educate myself, etc.

    I absolutely loved the topic of this podcast.
    I have to say that I agree with what they said on cancel culture. People do tend to go overboard with it.
    People need to be educated on what they should and shouldn't do or say, but going to the point of "you will never be forgiven even if you're genuinely sorry and trying to change your ways" is so toxic.

    honestly it’s scary stanning someone because you don’t know personally because what has happened with aoa’s jimin and big bang’s seungri...you don’t know how they are. actions speak louder than words. sometimes fans don’t know how someone’s true character is.

      jen with luv same, I don't get how some fans can be like "blah-blah-blah is so nice and kind, like the most generous person I know", because they don't actually know them, as fans only see the side of idols that they show. Especially when they are in a very controlled environment (same goes for any media person who you only see in their persona)

    It's kinda funny to me when BM said Instagram more like just for posting pictures (which it is), and Twitter be kinda toxic because it was all conversation. But Instagram is kinda the toxic one for me, all the pictures and aesthetic things make me feel the need catch up with trend and post the best of best of me then people be looking and judging the pic i post. Meanwhile twitter is my self place where I can let out anything on my mind the way it is and nobody cares enough to judge (except the immature fan war going on). People on twitter is harsh but they're honest, only say when they meant it, but on Ig people would say "pretty" just to get the compliment back on their post. But I get what he meant too, the critique is sometimes "extreme" for idols to the point it is being toxic. meanwhile on Ig they're mostly the one who sets the trend and people catch up with them (tho they still need to be careful too).
    Well, no offence nor hard feeling. that's only my opinion.

    regarding online safety: if you're communicating with a stranger online for the purposes of friendship, dating, hooking up, business opportunities, whatever, run it by your friends first. open that up and get through the awkward conversation with them, because it's better than taking an unnecessary risk. now, if you all come to a certain conclusion and it ends up being wrong, that means you and your circle of friends are collectively dumb. and trust me, that's a learning experience money can't buy.👍
