Cal Poly! I was at UCSB and my friends from Cal Poly would come and party at my place 😎
I feel like Peniel's life can be summed up with the word "huh?"
Maybe because he"s the kid from america. Hahaha
lmao
@@ineedtosaythis ROFL
😭
Peniel's comment about people not knowing other Asian countries is really just a prime example of America's failing education lol
uwu我有一个猫 😂
righttttttt and a lot of people in America also think Africa is a country smh
Yeahh, like growing up in spain, i was like "they mustve said it in a jokingly way" but then he said that he asked them if they knew any other asian countries and they couldnt i was like "oh shoot i think its not a joke, there is those bishesss in the world"😂😂😂😂 culture shock i guess.
i think it's important to keep in mind that it's been a hot minute since they've been in the public schooling system
To be honest, many Americans don't even know the location of all the states in the U.S. Geography education was not all that good.
Shoot I don't think Americans know the capitals of all the states. (Me included)
I personally do know quite an amount of Asian, African and European country names but I feel that's from me consuming a lot of music from different places. lol I didn't even realize until I was part of a quiz game with unlimited answers and I just started listing off countries for certain questions and everyone just looked surprised.
The way Ashley was describing school I was like that sounds familiar. WE WENT TO THE SAME COLLEGE. Small world.
Omg wow lol
amwlove5 whaaa THATS so cool!
Hahah lolll
Me but when she was talking about highschool
Did she go to a CUNY or a SUNY?
BM to those koreans who bullied Ashley: "HOPE YOU GUYS ARE NOWHERE NOW!" ~ Savage!!! 😂😂😂😂😂
when peniel says pythagorean theorem but recites the quadratic formula... 👁👄👁 (@27:17)
OMG HAHAHAHA I THOUGHT I'M THE ONLY ONE WHO NOTICED THAT LMAO HAHAHA
I thought I was the only one💀💀
Girl you good...
ISFBBF I THOUGHT THIS AS WELL
LMAO I'M GLAD I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO NOTICED
Peniel's reminisces about going to school in Korea could easily be adapted into stand-up comedy, especially the "are you the kid from America? ah, okay, move along." And to Ashley's point near the end, education *is* imporant, but memorizing facts just to do well on a test does not an education make. Critical thinking, effective self-expression, and asking and contemplating tough questions is the key.
Can you guys talk about the relationship between celebrities and regular people(in the general sense); like how a lot of people put their Idols / celebrities on a pedestal, give celebrities unrealistic expectations, koreaboos, etc. please???
PS: really love your videos what you guys talk about❤❤❤
@@simpayshenaides I didn't mean dating, I meant in the general sense; like how obsessed fans can become with their idols/celebrities, etc. Stuff like that.
Manuella A so something about saesaengs or something?
@@tiredd__ yea
That would be sooo interesting
Matthew: I hope you guys are nowhere now 😂
I went to Hanyang for exchange last year, and one of the professors actually still remembers Peniel!! He mentioned him briefly in class and everyone was real shook hahaha
I wonder what he said about peniel? Did he remember him not waering his name tag? Haha :)
Can you tell us what he said?
Please share to us what the professor says about him 😅
haha he just said that peniel was chill, and he had asked the prof on advice about if he should continue with school or drop out. And the prof is cool so he just told him to do what he wants!
I did not know I needed to hear Matthew say “you silly goose you 😤” until today
what time?
37:27
Bm: I was just thinking about the mall hitting on girls
Peniel: yeah yeah yeah me too
Ashley: HITTING ON GIRLS WHAT!!?!?!?
Me: Crying laughing because 1 its true and 2 because it funny
BM, Peniel, Ashley: i liked the social part of school.
Me: hates every part of school
You speak for most of us, no different.
Same. I'm glad there's an online option these days. The students at school ruined it for me. 👀
Me: who liked everything but socialising
Learn, memorize, take exam and forget HAHAHAHHA sooo true
I can relate
The way Peniel had reservations with his korean high school stories... spill the tea, Peniel, dont be shy lol
I really like listening Ashley's speaking. Her words are so clear
My favorite podcast EVER. And I listen to dozens of podcasts a week.
What other podcasts do you listen to? On UA-cam.
@@DefineMorena haha we two have the same question hope we got reply
As a fellow Chicagoan, I cracked up when Peniel said Woodfield mall! Every Chicagoland native has memories at Woodfield 😂
Nah my Chicago memories involve either Ford City Mall, Chicago Ridge or Riverside.
sameee i was like woodfield i work thereee
yesss woodfield was poppinnn
Their talks about school is nostalgic for me. I went to the same college as Ashley and my experience was the same. It was an affordable and convenient commuter school for me bc I didn’t know what I wanted to do. I even took that BS Weather & Climate class like Ashely did to fulfill my science requirement and did terrible too 😭
I don’t know how it is nowadays, but it’s criminal that high schools in my day didn’t teach real life skills like personal finance, budgeting, how credit/debit works, and how to file taxes. No matter what career path you end up choosing in life, these are real life skills that every adult will eventually need to deal with. These things should be mandatory in every school curriculum nation wide.
To be honest, ever since we had online school I find myself stressing over certain things like falling behind because I don’t feel smart enough. I think it’s maybe the pressure of wanting to do well so I don’t disappoint anyone, but sometimes it gets too much to the point were I question myself if it’s really worth it?
i feel you so much! and next month ill be doing my as level exams😔
Arneta Puteri I hope you do great! 🥳
Damn I've been having the same struggle
same here. sometimes i get soooo stressed that i want to stop everything and run away for like a week or so.
salem Mola I just want to drop school all together. The fear of not being able to think as smartly as my classmates (if that makes sense) scares me. I know if I drop out I won’t be able to get a good job to basically financially support myself in the future. (I can’t drop out. Why would my mother even let me?)
bruh when they mentioned "idols who can do math faster than a calculator" EYE-
head empty only math king choi chanhee
Me too😌😌😂😂
Exactly I knew it was about Chanhee immediately 😂
Omg deobiii
And the girl from Weki Meki too I'm not sure what's her name 😅
As a Finn, I can attest to the emphasis on the first few grades being more about learning to learn, less about testing. Testing doesn't actually help people learn anyways, it just causes stress. While it is a necessary skill to learn to deal with stress, there needs to be a reason for it. It's more about the quality of time spent learning, not the quantity. That's kinda the way Finland and the Scandinavian countries approach the issue of schooling at the first few grades.
And now, the obligatory:
"Suomi mainittu! Torille!"
I just cannot get enough of Matthew with this hair👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Seriously, I was thinking why no one is talking about BM ❤
oooh Finland mentioned! I'm really grateful for our school system, it's not perfect but it really creates more equal opportunities for kids :)
Adding to Peniel's point for the high school student please work on what you want at your pace and not everyone else's pace. You'll get there. Its okay to try a few or many things to decide what you wanna do and like.
Hello, a Finnish person here. We definitely do have homework and it is not only 10 minutes. I mean it depends on what grade you have. 1-6 grades definitely have less homework, and it also depends on the teacher and subject. Also, might depend on the person. I am a slow person so it usually takes me a while to do school stuff.
Can't really compare to anywhere else and am speaking from my own experiences but Finns definitely have homework, but I wouldn't say that it takes all of our time.
Using PEMDAS to file taxes had me dead! LMAO!
When BM mentioned idols who can calculate multiplications fast @26:56, I remembered Jeonghan from Seventeen😂
Somebody tell them to drop an episode every day...this is super fun to watch !!
They can’t do that cause BM is in Kard and they have lives outside of this podcast
Honestly this episode really make me smile, and think back on how I was as a student. As my friend use to call me "Lazy Genius" I never studied but always maintained 90 or above, I never did any homework, because my main goal was getting 90 or above on test, and I would always calculate, the grade I needed on my final to pass the class. I would sleep in some classes, I didnt take any AP classes, until my senior year and even then it was only 3. Basically I didnt try hard in high school. I always said I would never work in a school that was far away from what I was going to do.
And now here I am currently working in the field of Education. 😂 Life really comes around.
Honestly today was a hard day for me at work, so hearing this really did help me.
I would really want to see Day6's Jae in this podcast as a guest
The way BM says “ oh hell nah “😂 iʻm dying
Peniel's reaction to seeing math i feel like anyone can relate lol.
I'm like peniel tho.. i just don't like study. when i have quiz or exam, i just study a day before i took the exam and it just make me tired to understand everything.. i regretted that but still doing the same thing until i graduated😂
Same here
I hope that I could do better...
I miss my allowance for school because I had more spending money then than now.
As a high school student it was hard for me to relate to a some of your episodes but im glad yall did this episode :D
Just a suggestion of what i would like to hear on get real-
Your thoughts on this generation of kids having exposure to the internet, not only safety wise but us getting heavily influenced by people on the internet
These three people are the medicine!
For me, this podcast like taking both of english class and consoling class at the same time. I feel positive vibes while watching this podcast. I'm really excited, thank you so much for the motivation and quotes.
Thank you Peniel, Ashley, and BM.
Keep it up big tiddy squad !
Me every time a podcast is coming to an end: 🥺🥺🥺🥺
Ashley's college and school experience hits home.
And also I needed to hear so many things from this podcast
I have no patience, I mean I can barely make it through a movie, but I can sit through and watch this
Waiting for Peniel's high school memories at a Korean school
I feel like the more i watch get real the more I'm convince that Me and Peniel have the same brain cells. The way he think and deal with things in life is so Me! It's giving me goosebumps...wow seriously hahaha! If he was able to finish college i think he will say " I finish school just for the sake of finishing it".
22:13 the fact that I knew immediately Matthew was talking about zenon the girl of the 21st century 💀 I have watched those movies so many times when I was younger
wait-
peniel said pythagorean thorem
and then recited the quadratic formula
Thank you Ashley, Peniel, and BM. I come here every time i feel blue, y'all help me to cheer me up while listening to y'all stories, idk how, but i'm so thankful you guys doing this podcast, once again, thank you❤️ always support you guys❤️

HOLD UP I THINK ASHLEY WENT TO THE SAME HS AS ME WITH THE 42ND STREET AND MUSIC DURING PERIODS OMFGGGG IN QUEENS NY AHHHHHH
that's why Robin Sparkles said: "Lets go to the Mall..Today!"
hands down my fav episode, I have never ever listened to a full episode before of a podcast but now I have.
I’m so glad I found this. Keep killin it!!
The point of get real in every episode is find what makes you happy and let's cut off the toxic people. Thank you Peniel, BM and Ashley😍😍😍 Hope you guys stay healthy and happy. Aamiin 😊😊😊
Listening to this podcast is like taking an English class for me. Thank you Ash, Peniel, BM ❤️ stay healthy!
It was so heartwarming to hear their advice at the end ♥️
peniel and bm say "oh really" at the same time and pneiel looks at bm for a reaction and don't get one
You guys always make my day, love you guys💛
I like this channel, all their topics they talk about are very interesting and kind of useful. The three together are a good team, please give us more videos.

keep up the good work !!!
I really hope your guys keep doing this series on DIVE I would be so sad if you guys stopped! I love listening to you guys especially during these times of uncertainty, thank you Ashley, Peniel and BM 💕
I don’t know if our school (in rural Australia) was the exception but when we were in year 9(15/16 years old) we spent a few months learning basic life skills, we had to pretend that we moved to the city, we got “allocated” to a university/community college, we had to apply for real jobs, find a place to live, learn how to use public transport and navigate your way around pre gps, work out a realistic budget that included starting costs bond, furniture buying, tuition fees etc, heck we even learnt a little about government and how to vote( voting is mandatory for everyone in Australia if you’re a citizen). At the end of the course was a school excursion to the city to practice what we learnt. This was before smart phones, when the only internet we had was dial up and very few people had access to it. It was so valuable that when I actually moved to the city 4 years later, I’d like to think it helped me avoid the usual pitfalls when you first leave the nest.
I went back to my 20th high school reunion recently and I was like, "Hi! This is who I should have been in high school." I was bullied in middle school and had the worst social anxiety in high school. I wasn't "ready" socially back then. I had people who I was friendly with but didn't have any real friends. For my college reunions, I'd hang out more with people from the class that graduated before me. (Whoever had a five year reunion would show up to campus.) I have more fun as an adult because I'm catching up on doing things I wouldn't have been comfortable doing otherwise.
Back then I felt like my being alone was a given. I’ve gradually come to realize that while I like being social and hanging out with my friends I sometimes prefer being alone and I’ll make it a point to make sure I have alone time if I’m busy with social stuff.
dayumm babies back it again with another vid
i honestly cant live without GET REAL with bm, ashley and peniel no more
p.s: im watching this podcast while drunk so i feel like im hanging out with u guys, it gives another vibe i hightly reccomended 🔥
That last piece of advice really spoke to me 😭 college is testing me so hard right now & I constantly feel like giving up but I know I just have to push through it.
I've had a migraine all day and this was the only thing that made me feel better!! love you guysss
You guys are such a joy to watch
i love this show .. ive bben addicted to it ever since covid hit Europe... i didn't know u guys from kpop .. but kinda learn about k pop and ur respective groups through this show..
i love ur personalities u guys are really entertaining and relatable
i feel close to u .. because the languges and ur experiences are similar to mine
keep up and i'm always listening
I love this episode a lot I swear. Schooling is always the problem for me even until now while i'm studying abroad at 25 but just study online, no college no friends due to COVID-19 ( it really sucks). Actually I don't really like studying that much but I wanna go to college, communicate with everyone and make new friends, learn new things. But I'm stucking in lockdown, struggling with a bunch of assignments and mental health, overthinking what I'm gonna do in life and who I wanna be, which job I wanna do in the future. I know I'll figure it out but still feel so stress. Anyway, be happy and do whatever you like, that's what we do to enjoy this life. Have a great day mateeee!
Always looking forward to this! 😍
When I first saw Peniel I thought he looked intimidating but now he just seems so chill and funny to me
I love this podcast sm always looking forward to it!
The thing is TOEFL is easier than Korean SAT
Been waiting for this to drop 👌🙆
I'm starting uni soon and i'm so anxious ! thank you for this podcast
fam the real test is doing the hw while the teachers collecting it
We maneuver through phases of life ,school is one of them , later in life there will be good memories coming from them.
This topic brought me memories ,nostalgic ones too.
looking for the next episode👏💫
It was lovely to hear from you Ash ,Peniel and especially BM 💙
Im not a fan of podcast but then i stumbled upon GET REAL in spotify. Now im here on youtube watching every episode. I never knew listening to other people talking about random stuff could be so fun and relatable.
I LOVE THIS PODCAST. BIG TIDDIE GANG
I love this podcast so much cuz I'm learning so much 😍
Listened to this last night but still watching today because I love Get Real. 😊
The shudder that went through me at the mention of math and it being fun. Math was the bane of my existence
Lindsay Stenico same 😭
All the flashbacks from school came to mind while listening to this episode. Life was simpler but I don't miss it :D
This is like the best podcast everrrr
One of my favorite podcasts
I was just like Ashley in high school, was very shy and only had a few friends, but in junior high I had a clique we was called the stoners. Lol. I would hate if I was in the same class with the same kids all day.
It sounds so funny when Peniel says.. its Peniel from BTOB haah
This topic is so fun to listen to especially when they share how they were in school, those fun and not so fun moments. Also Peniel and his "huh" moments :>>>
I want them to talk about Gaming, Productivity and/or Procrastination :D Thanks Dive Studios for the Podcasts!
Peniel is me talking abt mathematics 😂😂😂😂
Also, we're not allowed to use calculators in India 😂😂😂 we use our hands that way too 😂😂
High school: I remember Pythagorean Theorem and The powerhouse of the cell
My school teaches us about taxes in our junior year which I’m starting in like 3 days
This really inspired me to not give up on my dream in becoming an idol. Thank you!
I like what BM said that going to school is about DILIGENCE.
Glad that we learned taxes when I was in high-school 👍
I would also like to raise my kids in Finland 🇫🇮. Hey BM 😉❤️😂
Yall are cool keep up the good work
Peniel the accidental idol... what a great origin story!💪💪❤
Yeah MISS the making trouble and every fun stuff with your homies!!
I just finished college and I already missed being at school. I feel like as a student, you don't have to think about anything other than school. But now that I am out of school, there are so many responsibilities and decisions that need to be made.
This was such a relatable podcast, honestly I agreed with basically everything they said. It does help that I'm American though lol
Great. Thanks for sharing your past high school experiences. I'm sorry to hear that your had difficult experiences in your high school maths classes. It's disappointing to hear this as an Australian and Asian maths teacher with over 10 years experience....I always explain to my classes how all the mathematical formulas and concepts are related to the real world. For example, knowing how to do taxes is so important when becoming an adult but then again I'm also a business teacher too. You guys are more than welcome to come and hang out with me in my maths classes that I teach when you're free of course. Just make sure that you have a blue card (children safety card).
Lovely show and awesome.
