First band I owned all cd releases. Under iskall trol mane numbered and found at a flee market. Dog chewed up Kristallklar Vinternatt only vinyl I had. Regardless, I am happy to know of and enjoy Thy Primordial.
the Lord Kaos record was one of the first BM records I ever bought. Really nice atmosphere and energy!

Damn right Lord Kaos is classic. I was all about it in the 97-99 period. Saw them play live around 99/2000 I think, and I seem to remember a real drummer. I was friendly with the guitarist and ended up doing their website for them. Had a long sleeve shirt with the art but think it's disintegrated now. If you can find the Under the Southern Cross compilation cd of Aussie bands, they have their last recorded track on it Black Earth which again I think has a drummer.

I love the analogy for Australian music. Sums it up perfectly, but then at the opposite end of the spectrum we have bands like Midnight Odyssey!
Purple and blue was very common colors on CD booklet etc print...dont know why, feels like it was harder to get the exact colors bands aimed for perhaps...but i have a fond feeling though for those looks

Finally Thy Primordial gets some recognition! Great Swedish black metal. Sorhin and Arckanum are no less amazing. Nice video!

This video spoke to me as I grew up with BM around the same era as you - so thanks for the memories! I actually discovered Setherial through Lords of the Nightrealm so it holds a special place even though I can see why a lot of people rubbish it... the production is terrible but it's just a relentless album.
Mork Gryning - Tusen ar har gatt would be on my list. The melodicism and songwriting is pretty phenomenal considering how young they apaprently were at the time.
Got a reply message from isidor lead vocalist from thy primordial awhile back in reference to him leaving thy primordial supposedly his brother died right around the time the crowning Carnage came out also he was working far from home which led to his departure very underated band

Yep, Emil (or as he goes by the stage name Nightmare) did play guitar on that Swordmaster release. Whiplasher did the vocals. If we’re talking about overlooked classic, I guess I’ll chip in a few of my own picks ;)
1. “Drudenhaus” by Anorexia Nervosa - I’ve literally seen no metal UA-camrs talk about this band and it’s a damn shame. Pure gothic black metal that appeals to both a younger and older audience.
2. “Qliphothic Supremacy” by Handful of Hate - Underrated melodic black metal from Italy. It’s acoustic sections are so damn beautiful.
3. “Enter the Moonlight Gate” by Lord Belial - Classic album from a classic Swedish black metal band.
4. “Empire of Blood” by Black Funeral - Personally, I prefer this record over “Vampyr - Throne of the Beast” because of it’s overall mystifying atmosphere and the music sounds so evil! Dare I say that it sounds more evil than anything from Mayhem and Darkthrone... Either way, this album is the very definition of vampiric black metal.
I actually own Drudenhaus but I never listen to it, been meaning to pick up Exile, will do that soon. Ive talked about Heirarchy 1999 by HoH a few times, dont think I have a copy of the one you mentioned. I'll add it to my wishlist. I like Lord Belial alright, they just never blew me away. Just picked it up last summer. Lastly, I have had a copy of Empire of Blood for many tears now and it never really resonated with me either. But I will be sure to gice it another spin soon. I have been laying off the new stuff and rifling through my collection lately. Thanks for the great comment!

Never heard it! In fact I only recently picked up a copy of Dreams of the Carrion Kind.
I actually haven't heard the whole thing either but what I've heard is amazing. James Murphy is good on everything. That era of metal itself was special.
From what I've heard, it's kind of hard to get ahold of.
