Glad to see so much support for James on here. He plays his heart out for every team he's played for. The stuff he's done for people in Derry that he takes absolutely no credit for is unreal, funerals paid for for families on the breadline, helping people out. Hes a legend and one if the best people you could meet. But in England vile racism and bigotry is accepted and encouraged in football.

Get your point, but speech has never been free. There is always a price tag for saying what you think. It is okay for McClean to say his beliefs and point of view, he stands behind them and takes criticism for it. It is okay for Shrewsbury fans to voice their disagreement, but not hurl objects. It is okay for the journalist to express his criticism, but not hide it as reporting. Which he slants and leaves out facts to suit his agenda!
Players answer to bodies other than the government like the EFL or the FA or their own clubs. Theoretically they could be fined or get other punishments for various things that they do in public life.
My book says,, if you throw a stone at me ,, don't be surprised if I throw it back,,,James gets abuse every game!! He wears our shirt he has my support 👍
I hate how McClean is abused by opposing fans. I wish he hadn't posted about Shrewsbury afterwards, but if McClean needs to apologize, then the Shrews supporters need to apologize for their poor behavior, too. As an outsider, I don't fully understand these derby rivalries, but when players are subjected to objects hurled at them from the stands, the rivalry has gone too far. This behavior shouldn't be normalized as 'schtick'.
He always gets abuse because of his beliefs. There were lighters and all sorts thrown at him. I know he retaliates but it must be hard to ignore some of it. I like him and respect that he stands by what he believes in. He probably should have just ignored them but its hard to do.
@@WrexhamAFCfanzone I understand that it must get to him and that is why he posted. I understand it, but I still wish he hadn't done it because now everyone points to what he did rather the dangerous behavior of the Shrews fans.
I noticed, that once the police intervened a Shrewsbury supporter was removed from the stand. You could clearly see objects being thrown at him from the broadcast.
And AGAIN, YooToob deleted my comment! Here goes nothing! Thank you, Jimmy lad! 26 + 6 = 1 Next time, instead of a poppy, I hope he wears an Easter lily to honor all those who died during Ireland's struggle for freedom, including all the innocent civilians who were victims of the British Army.
People need to understand why he has stance on what he believes in and realise we all have different views. As for throwing items at the players think thats going abit too far they are there to play football. He gives as good as he gets but it must be getting old now and to have a barrier of stewards behind him when taking a throw which by the looks of it he could take correctly because of the stewards directly behind him maybe a temporary stop to the game should of happened to also move the fans back. Think both clubs will get fined on this but better control on the night was needed. On such high profile Derby games maybe a bigger steward presences is needed to stop items being throw.
Sounds like Shrewsbury fans can dish it out, but they can't take it! Makes them and that so called sports journalist. Punks and bullies in my opinion, and McClean should not have, or been forced to take down his posts.
Jeff Stelling was in Wrexham a few days ago doing a show of some kind. I bet he wouldn't have had a go at McClean if his show was coming up. He would have got a lot of stick in the audience for sure.
my god, does the entire world have to wear a poppy? Surely surely there are always 2 sides to a conflict, sometimes more? so you cant expect everyone to stand on the same side when it comes to these past regretful events that shaped history. you cant rewrite it, so best to just not fight about it anymore.
Was absolutely disgusting 🤮 behaviour from dirty Shrewsbury farmer fans 😂, I really hope they get fined , I support and agree with James political opinions ❤🏴 🇮🇪 💪🏻
I absolutely support McClean's right to protest and find the Shrews fans' behavior unacceptable; if the club can be fined for not controlling their fans, they should be. But McClean is a professional and I don't think he should have said what he did in his post -- for a lot of reasons. I think name calling other human beings ultimately leads to violence. It is a bad call on and off the pitch.
Not sure how many times mcclean has played against wrexham in last 10 year .. you would see that he is a complete arse and not just about his beliefs.. other clubs already know this and it seems wrexham are 10 year behind .. Other players have not wore the poppy not just him but if you actually watched him play youd see the reason why hes not liked
@WrexhamAFCfanzone I'm not doubting he is all those things but he should just stick to that instead of politics.. some of your newer fans may want to watch some of his games over the years to see why he's disliked by many clubs fans and by a lot of your own fans.. not just the poppy stance it's just a smokescreen to hide his antics on the field and off which are why he's not liked .. In all honesty that's exactly what he wants No need for the education lesson
Nobody is going to judge him on things from years ago anyway. It's the here and now that matters and he's a valued member of the team. Unless you've met him, had him play for your team you don't have first hand experience of him.
I've had first hand experience many times over the years of seen him play and know full well of his behaviour.. the poppy may offend some other fans but not the majority who see him for what he is .. a tosser . What his beliefs were when playing for ni u21 .. hypocrisy
Listen here, the refs hit him with a yellow, problem solved. They were throwing shit at him! If the league fine him, they better make sure every single person whom threw anything are never allowed to watch another match, otherwise this is retaliatory.

He's loved here in Wrexham. A legend for sure.
The abuse he got that night was disgraceful. He is right. No one deserves that abuse. It is cesspit
He always gets it and I am not surprised he snaps sometimes. Shouting is one thing but throwing lighters and coins is out of order.

I stand right behind him. Thanks for bringing this report.
So do I
Thanks, Frans
Stand behind hin in your own league
Is there no free speech in the UK? It is one thing to say something that offends someone but quite another to hurl objects intended to do harm.

There is free speech but I am guessing players have to answer to the EFL on things like this. Fans caught hurling objects should be banned.

Try to crticise islam ,youll find out .Wrexham should be in the welsh league anyway parasites
He wouldn't like you calling it Londonderry.
He would know this video is in support of him as have all the videos previously.

Kelly, as an outsider, I agree with everything you say while using a fav word “schitck”.
The unfortunate thing in situations like this is “you are damned if you do and damned if you don’t”.
I have no idea what that word means.

Well, he's not wrong, is he?
He does make me laugh when he goes off on one but to be honest Shrewsbury the place is really quite nice.
I’m with James on this one! Aha! Running down the wing! Aha!

You're right. Everyone is entitled to a personal opinion, including McClean.
