It’s clear that the guys responsible for GGD understand the flexibility given by ‘frankenkits’ or combining multiple kits, but Kontakt makes that more difficult and cumbersome than it has to be. I would love to see GGD ditch Kontakt and switch to a custom sampler that supports fully customising and blending kits, a simpler multi-out system that supports mono and stereo without breaking stereo outputs and the ability to add custom one shots. Basically I love GGD and hate Kontakt.
Kontakt is fucking awful. I opened Native Access to install a new kit recently and it updated Kontakt 6 in the background. Guess what happened, it erased all my custom multi outs for GGD. Even my archives were fucked. I followed Natives advice and deleted the default folder....didn't work, I had to go back and redo all my templates. Fuck Kontakt
Drumforge savior does that. I've had it for a few days and my snares sound 100x better but I still use Room mics, hi-hats and OH from Halpern Drums GGD. The best thing about DF savior is how easy it is to blend samples and they sound amazing.
23:47 so the secret to a good mix is to be friends with 3 of the best engineers in the game right now, got it! jokes aside, great video! It's always helpful to see actual mixes instead of contextless "how to" tutorials. what I found really suprising is seeing you boost the high end of the guitars while most tips/tutorials I've seen would rather cut everything above ~9-10k
Was also personally really shocked by the high-end boost. Still actively *really* trying to work out the whole mixing thing and had been generally throwing high passes over guitars assuming it was what everybody did. I'll have to explore the high-shelving thing.
it's great, we want more! Please show us the complete mix of the drums with the settings in cubase (pro Q3, decap etc etc) thanks ! love your videos and your songs
Please please do a production walk through of And Yet, This Man Will Soar. I get chills and I literally play this to my 3 week old daughter to put her to sleep! In a good way 😊 so much Hans Zimmer vibes, your orchestral arrangement has come Alooong way and I'm impressed 😎
Thanks for doing these Misha.. As a fellow Cubase user it's nice to see your layout and how you do things. I also watch Mixdown online with Chris Selim.
Please give us a more in depth drum mix tutorial… specifically kick and snare processing. I can’t get those PIV drums to sound quite right, but they sound so damn good here. Thank you for posting stuff like this… it is inspiring and incredibly helpful!!
Great seeing this. Thanks for doing the breakdown. I do think its funny that you come back to it and you're like shit maybe I should have down it this way but oh well lol. Makes me feel better.
This was awesome, it would be great if you do breakdowns of Four Second Ago stuff, that would be really cool to see how you and Jake come up with sounds and process them in the electronic realm.
curious as to why misha leaves the drums in midi? everywhere i look, everyone says its best to bounce midi down to audio and edit from there, giving the illusion of working with a real kit and having to commit to sounds. also why the song starts at measure 300 something?
He probably has a big session where he rights multiple songs within it and bouncing might mess up the rest of his session if that is the case. If your computer can handle it, there is no need to bounce really imo. me personally my writing template is my mixing template as well so I have the option to change something on a per song basis. the only thing that changes is usually the snare sample depending on the vibe
Nice Stuff Misha!!! I'm Just guessing, why are you not using the real cabs for reamping guitars? Both amps are so close through the cabsims? I can only hear the gain difference for real.
Absolutely. There is no such thing as "cheating" when it comes to getting an idea out. Quantize, auto-tune, punch...whatever. I may think it sounds like ass, but that's opinion. It's when all these tools are used as a crutch that it's lame...singers that can't sing being auto-tuned, guitarists that can't play their parts so they're punching everything, etc...super lame.
Hey man, that’s sick your mouse was ranked 7th most influential metal drummer in brown magazine

It also has an option for enabling drumshots inside of it.
17:35 guitar bus
21:16 bass bus
31:00 master bus
I love those videos! A production walkthrough of 'Far Too High' would be great ;)

I have been waiting for a bulb mix breakdown So thank you much To the guys at GGD
we love Yall for this :)
🔥🔥🔥 I could watch 10 million of these "under-the-hood" production videos from you.
The ending of this song makes it even more perfect than the original version, especially when the drums hit
That ending was also used in facepalm mute funnily enough.
@@thedutchdjentleman oh man, didn’t notice, that’s one song I never heard of them… guess I’ll do it know
@@thedutchdjentleman it’s actually different. Just a similar vibe
@@thedutchdjentleman might be a similar vibe, but completely different thing
The VK snare is hands-down my favorite snare that GGD has released.
it's great, we want more!
Please show us the complete mix of the drums with the settings in cubase (pro Q3, decap etc etc) thanks ! love your videos and your songs
That is so incredible! Feel so lucky to see all this!
Great video, great music 🎶.... great album !!!
Please let us have a glimpse of the rest of the album with the same approach as this video.
Cheers.

Please do more of the other album songs! Very informative
Misha shares a project video:
"Everyone liked that"
Misha is such a good dude - I am so lucky that periphery is my favorite band. They just keep giving, especially misha. Love the Bulb stuff man
YES. More pls!
Superb! Really informative, as always. Keep them coming!
More in-depth videos like this would be awesome 😎 can’t get enough.
yess why not we want more, and multitracks for one or two too!!
Love these videos man both to get behind the scenes for the song and the mixing tips
This is so good. Hopefully we always get contents like this
thanks for the video, Misha
I like the mix walkthroughs cause it shows how important the tiny moves are to the overall product
Download happiness is great also
Yeah dude this was awesome! You should totally do more! Mabye a breeze redux? Echo Teuffel?
I'd love to see Misha do a Nail the Mix over at URM!
Thanks for doing these Misha.. As a fellow Cubase user it's nice to see your layout and how you do things. I also watch Mixdown online with Chris Selim.
the vk snare is the only snare i use w/ ggd p4, that thing sounds insane. great work

24:00. screenshot and trial and error my friend. good luck!
Thank you so much for all this lessons 🙏🤘😍❤️
Another there's really not much incentive to do another one of these, but a video like this for Echo Teuffel would be amazing.
Great seeing this. Thanks for doing the breakdown. I do think its funny that you come back to it and you're like shit maybe I should have down it this way but oh well lol. Makes me feel better.
thanks dad
Pleeeease upload apathy breakdown! or download happiness, whatever. I'm just really curious about your approach with EDM/techno
That master buss Mid/Side is nuts
Hella yeah dude! I love this
I use GGD Products on all my cover videos!
I declare this would be my perfect place to say R.I.P. Joey Jordison, seems appropriate somehow.
The smrk face when he pressed play 'just listen to the shit I did' :D :D :D
How about a "Breeze" production walkthrough??
in modern and massive how do you send individual pieces of the kit to daw mixer channels?
Can we get a playthrough?
Random but any recommendations on chairs for those long studio sessions?

Cool! But its great to enshine ambient guitar layer setup-its Plini+ValhallaDelay+Blackhole i see? What amp of Plini and reverb/delay setup please!?
Aaaaah ponies. I read it in a different way. Gotcha!

Few joints beforehand Misha???? ;)
No, I don’t work stoned, and I really don’t smoke much weed in general. My drug of choice is coffee!
@@MishaMansoor Are you dudes still making coffee and coffee mugs? I'd love to get some!
