It's a very very long story as to why this track along with every other track on their only album (a demo album) isn't available to listen to anywhere online, but it involves their management fucking over the band on this demo album. The last thing I remember reading about this band when I was doing research was that the members of the band technically don't own the rights to any of the music on this demo, and their management refused to sell it back to them at a reasonable price, even decades later. It was passed around on bootlegs, but this track and Adirectional were both available on the movie soundtrack for the Pauly Shore film Bio-Dome and people put those up on music sharing sites back in the late 90s-early 2000s crediting them to multiple different bands (I've seen them credited to Lagwagon, Penny Wise, MxPx, Bad Religion, just a bevy of punk bands.) Who knows who has the rights now, I don't even think their actual manager who fucked them over is even alive anymore. I dunno who put the entire demo album up on UA-cam but we should be thanking them sincerely for keeping literal lost media alive and archived for all of us to hear.
Looking out a dirty old window Down below, the cars in the city go rushing by I sit here alone and I wonder why Friday night and everyone's moving Well, I can feel the heat, but it's shooting, heading down I search for the beat in this dirty town Downtown, the young ones are going Downtown, the young ones are growing We're the kids in America, whoa We're the kids in America, whoa Everybody lives for the music-go-round Bright lights, the music gets faster Look boy, don't check on your watch, not another glance I'm not leaving now, honey, not a chance Hotshot, so give me no problems Much later, baby, you'll be saying "never mind" You know, life is cruel, life is never kind Kind hearts don't make a new story Kind hearts don't grab any glory We're the kids in America, whoa We're the kids in America, whoa And everybody lives for the music-go-round La la la la la la la La la la la la la, so La la la la la la la La la la la la la, la la la, la la la la, yeah Come closer honey, that's better Got to get a brand new experience, feeling right Oh, don't try to stop, baby, hold me tight Outside, a new day is dawning Outside, sububia's sprawling everywhere I don't want to go, baby Lost town to Southern California There's a new wave coming, I warned ya We're the kids in America, whoa We're the kids in America, whoa Everybody lives for the music-go-round La la la la la la la La la la la la la, so La la la la la la la La la la la la la, la la la, la la la la, yeah Let's go! Some lf us actually saw this movie in the 90s and owned the CD its not pennywise, someone uploaded an MP3 on kazza or limewire way back in the day with pennywise as the artist, that was the way people found the song and it just stuck. Todays Kids in America don't even know 😂
@@empunk LOL amazing how that spread. I think I had the 'Lagwagon' one. The vocalist clearly didn't sound like Joey Cape. Only until I heard Adirectional on Bio-Dome soundtrack did I realize it was 4th Grade Nothing
Love this version. Love Kim Wilde's too!

Looking out a dirty old window
Down below, the cars in the city go rushing by
I sit here alone and I wonder why
Friday night and everyone's moving
Well, I can feel the heat, but it's shooting, heading down
I search for the beat in this dirty town
Downtown, the young ones are going
Downtown, the young ones are growing
We're the kids in America, whoa
We're the kids in America, whoa
Everybody lives for the music-go-round
Bright lights, the music gets faster
Look boy, don't check on your watch, not another glance
I'm not leaving now, honey, not a chance
Hotshot, so give me no problems
Much later, baby, you'll be saying "never mind"
You know, life is cruel, life is never kind
Kind hearts don't make a new story
Kind hearts don't grab any glory
We're the kids in America, whoa
We're the kids in America, whoa
And everybody lives for the music-go-round
La la la la la la la
La la la la la la, so
La la la la la la la
La la la la la la, la la la, la la la la, yeah
Come closer honey, that's better
Got to get a brand new experience, feeling right
Oh, don't try to stop, baby, hold me tight
Outside, a new day is dawning
Outside, sububia's sprawling everywhere
I don't want to go, baby
Lost town to Southern California
There's a new wave coming, I warned ya
We're the kids in America, whoa
We're the kids in America, whoa
Everybody lives for the music-go-round
La la la la la la la
La la la la la la, so
La la la la la la la
La la la la la la, la la la, la la la la, yeah
Let's go!
We're the kids, we're the kids, we're the kids in America
We're the kids, we're the kids, we're the kids in America
We're the kids, we're the kids, we're the kids in America
We're the kids, we're the kids, we're the kids in America
We're the kids, we're the kids, we're the kids in America
We're the kids, we're the kids, we're the kids in America
We're the kids, we're the kids, we're the kids in America
Why is it not on Spotify? Way better than MxPx's version
Lucas Pinto so much better, think bloodhound gang did it too but this is best.
Does anyone knows how can we get in touch with the band members?
IT'S NOT PENNYWISE, IT'S FOURTH GRADE NOTHING!!!!
jammin version I likey
Killer version
the Muffs did a cover version (of the Kim Wilde 1980's (new wave) classic) of it for the "Clueless" movie's (OST) soundtrack...
Who hasnt made a cover
Where can you find 4GN album hard copies????
Dude in the white hat looks like the the guy checking out groceries at the corner store.
Do you still make music?
They own no rights to their songs from bio dome due to the Mgr guy screwing them over
You sure this is not Lagwagon's version?
Yes -- it's always been 4th Grade Nothing. This song is on the Bio Dome album.
