Thank you! I was not switching out the armrest but my rear seats heater button was pushed in and this allowed me to retrieve it and fix it. Thank you for saving me 4 hours at a dealership.
Wow! Thanks I needed to take the cover off the locking mechanism to clean it. I spilled soda and now it's a sticky mess. Thanks for the video. Nice legs by the way.
Great video. I just ordered a Platinum F-150 Powerboost and unfortunately my dumb self didn't tick the box for this option, because I didn't think I'd need it, but then thought of a couple of scenarios in which it would be very nice to have. Will definitely be doing this when it arrives!
I’m sure you probably already realize this, but since you took apart the armrest/work station, you can just unbolt the bracket from the armrest since you were swapping the locks you would not have to undo the whole back of the console since the brackets are the same. Or put simply just disassemble the armrest take the bolts out of the armrest and swap them with just those bolts being taken out
@@RileySorensen I don't get any value out of the so-called "desk". It covers up the cup holders when you open it. It makes the opening to the console storage overwhelm the springs so it doesn't really stay open. And you have to turn awkwardly half sideways to use it. Could have been a great idea, but Ford clearly wanted to say that they offer it more than they wanted to make it a useable feature
I've got a 22 Lariat in Baja Tan. I'm happy to swap with you if the interior color matches. I work in the truck a lot and could really use this surface.
Wish I could put that front center console fold out flat work surface between the front bucket seats in the Explorer or Expedition. Any idea if it can be done? That is a GREAT feature. I'd use it all the time, along with a mobile hotspot taking my laptop and home office mobile. I am contemplating an F150 instead of an suv largely because of that option. Sometimes it's the little things.
I've got a Tremor without the work surface. Any idea on where to source this console? I called the dealership and they said its not possible lol. With that being said, I would happily trade with any of the subscribers, or purchase from anyone that has one. Thank you!
Hello Man Thanks for the video I made a stupid mistake by not ticking this work surface option.. can you help me find one so I can order and fix it ? I've searched the whole Internet and I couldn't find one
Thanks for posting this. I have seen the $800 parts list before. If I followed along correctly the only part that a person would need to buy to add the work surface to a truck is the actual worksurface and all the other pieces will reinstall correctly ??
A lifelong friend of mine earned the patent on this work surface, not surprizingly I went to a school for gifted kids with him in Deaborn MI only a couple miles from the Ford world headquarters.
@@PlatinumPeasant ok thanks. Mine happens to match yours so I took a pic the sticker in ur video.. hoping that's enough reference for dealer to order with.
Could this also work on the 2023 Super Duty? For some reason they have the version that’s on the front bench seat but not for the center console, which is odd considering how useful the work surface is, and there’s no console shifter to worry about either.
Professional or not you made an excellent video on how to change that center console. Mine has the fold down shifter which ford marketed as if you have that then you get the work station. How much is the replacement part?
I've talked to several parts departments and it looks like we need a VIN number for the trim level we each have. Anyone have a VIN# of a 2021 King Ranch with a work table?
@@PlatinumPeasant i can understand. But for example. If I have already the center console with the shifter, I’ll need to buy the top, middle and lower part, including the button to open the surface. Will I need another part to make it work?
appreciate this, your post on the 14gen forum brought me here....I am considering this myself and it looks like you only swapped the full armrest(w/work station and internal hinge) and main hinge (which looks the same). on the thread there are part numbers and significant cost for the rear cupholder, and cupholder upper and lower trim. where you able to reuse those in the non-workstation truck with the workstation or did they have to swap over as well?
I bought a new powerboost off the lot, and unfortunately they didn’t have the work surface :( I really wanted it. I wish ford would sell just the lid..really sucks ass that they don’t.
after going thru all that work to redesign the center console foldable shifter is standard future why this is even an option and not standard future man i am so mad i love my truck but fuck ford for not making this thing standard stupid stupid stupid ford
I’m not sure. Double check the video where I swapped the locks, you might be able to see whether it is or not. Where are the bracket attaches to the park at swings
Unfortunately I can’t help you there either. You just need to find a dealer that’s willing to work with you and search for the parts, or provide diagrams of the center console. XLT has multiple interior colors, Lariat has multiple colors, platinum has 2 and limited has its own color for the work surface. You need to search for the one specific to your trim and color.
@@JibaroTech @nicholasaldama7080 Did you guys ever hone in on what parts are needed in order to swap out the non-worksurface in an XLT (std black interior) for a work surface console?

Tell him he needs to get to work on the patent for offering it as an aftermarket option so we don't have to do jank swaps like this.
Couldn't you just swap the lid onto the existing hinge? They look the same
