You can buy those tabs at most any metal supplier, including online metal suppliers, for about $0.25 a piece. Also, it would be a lot cheaper to buy a handheld plasma cutter to do the same job and could be cut in about 5 minutes. If you want a bunch of complex shapes, send it out to a shop that has already spent the money on a CNC plasma table and be done with it. Just seems like a lot of money for something that can be done by shops that have already invested in purchasing the full size, and more capable, models. It's a neat tool for sure, however.

it is not for ""starting a business""
get one and make what you need personally.
cut some tile inlays for your niece example..
if you climb up in orders to a high level then you going to afford first a used industrial waterjet or a Chinese..
but this piece definitely to make parts in house what wouldn't be affordable to send out..

WaterJet for $4000?! wow. I am surprised the judges didn't ask about maximum canvas size. We do floors and sometimes people do the logos for company or school with water-jet. But you need the ability to do big format. The 12" x 18" area is... rough. That is big enough to do individual 12" VCT tiles, but that is a lot of individual tile cutting. Need some sort of easy software to break things down into those 12"x18" canvas areas. Commercial machines cut a lot of the same thing out of a big sheet. Going to take a lot of time to get that material in Wazer size sheets.

I think this machine is solely for the use of small parts needed small machines such as prototypes and not for commercial use.

if you look around market Chinese sells for 30K about a basic 4x8 machine, what is not really competing with others but you can start with..
the weakest link in a water jet the program, how it prepared for different thicknesses and different material
some ""monster"" cuts trough 20 in aluminum..
      and theres corners are critical.
this machine very cool as it cuts practically everything regardless of hardness.

Im scratching my head... it only takes a few days to learn how to make toolpaths on fusion360 to run a CNC job on an $600 3040 cnc. But instead, they decided to spend 14+ months, designing, developing, and prototyping a $7000 waterjet to cut a $3 design?

CNC is only for soft metals? With the proper tool, they can cut most steels. He says the process is tedious and and requires lots of skills? Well, it's not tedious. Punch the start button and go do something else (multi-task). Skill; g-code. I wonder why he didn't mention plasma cutting? Doesn't he know about it? Or did he intentionally skip that one? Hmm. And why did he say "under $4000" and the website is offering them this way "-$5,999- $4,499 25% off". Lol

I found it funny how a lot of these engineers dedicated 4 years of their life getting thier degree but cant spend 20min on a YoutTube video explaining how to make CNC toolpaths on fusion360.
