- This vlog takes you through a couple weeks in the last part of April. I tried a new cleaning idea on how to clean a coffee carafe - it's works amazing! My husband and I went to a Christian concert in Hershey, PA. We also went shopping in Lancaster, PA. Sadly, we are dealing with an invasion of ants that are coming out of our electrical outlet - yikes!

To clean your coffee caraf, fill it with hot water and add a couple of denture cleaning tablets. Let it soak overnight. I do this for my metal coffee traveler mugs and they look brand new!
Bobbie, in MO now, but Maryland and PA raised. Actiully moved here after 5 years in PA. Lancaster was one of my favorite areas. Absolutely gorgeous. And the markets are fantastic. So great to see you and Doug off on a getaway. We are leaving Sunday for a few days in Tulsa OK. Married almost 52 years to my best friend, and I totally agree that getting away, even for a few days is so rejuvenating. Take good care and I so enjoy your content. It's a small world! Not sure where in MO you are but I'm also in MO and I lived for many years in Maryland and PA. Raised my kids there too. Watching Bobbie is always fun but this was especially meaningful. So many places had so many good memories!

Bobbie you can also put in 1/2 cup of hydrogen peroxide with the baking soda then add boiling water. I do that and there's almost no need to use a brush! Thanks for taking us along on your adventures.

We get those little ants for about two weeks every spring. In April or May they show up out of nowhere and then suddenly they’re gone. They only show up in our kitchen and believe it or not it’s always right around our light socket. Weird!
I always get such a kick out of both you and your videos. You always brighten my day. Re coffee pot, I always add white vinegar to my baking soda before scrubbing and that seems to work both to clean and to neutralize odors. Re ant problem - had a similar one in my bathroom window. I was told by my pest control to stop using Raid because of the strong chemicals. I was advised to use Zevo and it worked like a charm soooo if you tire of waiting for the ants to “discover” your trap, you may want to try Zevo (safe around people and pets)
I will say this about ants, from experience: if your house is in a concrete slab, you may have a colony and if so, you will need a bug expert!
One house we bought when my kids were little, had FIVE colonies of ants and we didn’t know it before purchase! It took a while with a bug expert, but we finally got rid of them all! It was crazy!
We have cicadas GALORE! Deafening sound outside and flying everywhere! Ugh!
And yes! I had Terminix come and spray, twice now! To keep them away from where we get in and out of our home. 😂 I’m not nice to bugs. lol
I had to tell you that I just tried your tip for cleaning the coffee pot! I'm shocked (and a little grossed out!) by how much yuck I was able to remove! Great tip, thank you for telling us. It might be the highlight of my day 😂

Bobbie - I’ve used Terro ant baits with some success. I’m with you though - I can’t STAND ants in my kitchen. This year, they have been kept pretty much at bay - my exterminator guy was here in March and I said PLEASE, PLEASE treat like crazy outside my kitchen window because EVERY year they are an unwelcome guest!! So, far, I’ve only seen a few, so I’m hopeful I won’t have the army!

Hi Bobbie. Sheryl here from New Zealand. Only some parts of New Zealand get ants like where we are. They seem to like wiring and we've had to get wiring behind plugs replaced before. must be tasty lol. During the summer hubby is regularly with ant spray when he sees trails of them.

We spend an obscene amount of time and money on killing bugs of all kinds in and around our home. We hired a pest control company for the first time in our lives. We moved from Minnesota to Missouri and Omgosh the bugs! lol We don’t have any qualms about killing them. There’s plenty!

This was fun. I've been loving potsticker soup but w/o the potstickers. Very veggie & protein heavy. I even eat it for breakfast. You're a kind soul for dealing w/ the ants in the way you did.

Buy cheap generic denture cleaning tablets. They work great in coffee pots and cups. My yetti gets sparkling when I use them.

Congratulations on 100,000 subscribers! My son has a you tube channel, and he works long and hard on the weekends on his channel, because he has a full time factory job during the week. He has 34,500 subscribers and has been at it for about 4 years. No one knows how difficult and hard you creators work to bring a good, quality video. He does ear buds, headphones, etc. Any advice for him? The Hershey trip sounds delicious. I wanted to see more of that cute decor shop you stopped at. Keep up the great videos. We had a serious ant and spider problem a year after we moved into this house we are presently in. We got a Pest Control company who comes out monthly haven’t seen 1 ant or 1 spider in the house since. Here it runs about 60-75 dollars a month for this type of service. We live in California, Central Coast nearby beaches. I’s been several years now that we have had this service. I am grateful as there are the deadly brown recluse and black widow in our area.

I put my carafe in the dishwasher every once in a while. Comes out sparkling. Plus every morning after we’re through with coffee, I just rinse it out.
🤣I'm a weirdo I eat soup all year round and especially on hot summer days - it actually cools the body down - fun to use seasonal veggies and healthy too! Hope your ant issue is 100% resolved they can be so pesky and get into food so easily; so weird it's only from the outlet?!. right?

I love soup all year long! If you mix borax and something sweet (jam or syrup) place it in an old lid or on a piece of wax paper. It works in about 5 days but it works. Its cheap and no harsh chemicals
What a fun weekend getaway. I take it you didn’t see anyone you knew at the concert with your awful outfit you said? Lol. My mom always says well who am I seeing anyways when I question her attire going out. I’m sure you looked just fine.

I'm not a coffee drinker but my mom's coffee cups are disgusting so I've been hearing that denture tabs will clean out the coffee stains so I'm gonna try it on her cups. Might be worth trying on the caraf and they're pretty cheap. I got a small box of them at the Dollar Tree.

This is the second spring I have ants in my kitchen. None the previous 18 years. Was told to try Terro Liquid Ant Baits. Will see what happens.

i would’ve made a paste out of the baking soda to be a bit abrasive and scrub and then use the water or vinegar. Which coffee pot do you have?
Ants are drawn to electricity. My daughter had her heat pump go out last summer in really hot temperatures - we're down here in Georgia, y'all. The repairman said ants were the reason! They are drawn to the electromagnetic field and caused the condenser to short circuit!

I used peppermint oil for those peaty ants by my doorway and patio doorway and it works for me for two years in a row maybe it might work for you god bless 🙏🏻🫶🏻💜

Terro liquid ant bait. Just put some drops on the cardboard pieces and the ants go to it right away. They take it to the queen. Mine we gone in less than 2 days. You will see a lot at first but it gets em fast. Less than $5 for the bottle at Walmart. Traps do not work.
A few have said to use this! The ants are gone but I’ll get it if they come back.
Just go swimming then come in air-conditioned house and eat soup
