How to Eliminate Push-up Wrist Pain
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 жов 2024
- Push-ups shouldn't be hard on the wrist, but sometimes they are. It's tempting to use push-up handles or forego push-ups all together but these don't address the real cause of the problem.
Push-up wrist pain isn't always from weak or stiff wrists. It's usually from an imbalance in muscle tension in the lower arm. Correcting this imbalance reduced and even eliminates any wrist pain and discomfort very quickly.

I fixed my wrist pain with one of your old videos on how to do push ups with no wrist pain. After that I trust this channel %100. Also thank you for the videos!
Glad to hear John! Keep on push'n man!
john smith great man. Would you share with us how you overcome your wrist pain exactly . Thanks
Naeem Fekri I used to feel pain in my wrists every time I do push-ups cause I would let my hands be all relaxed and let my fingers spread. After watching one of his videos where he talked about keeping everything tight, bringing your fingers together and contracting everything. I tried it and did a couple of push ups... and I didn’t feel any pain then I realized that my technique was the reason I was feeling pain.
john smith thank Man 👍🏼
No problem man.
"...The real issue at hand"
I see what you did there.
Dude, that's pure magic. It helped me pretty instantly. I've been strugling in maxing my reps cause of my right wrist. Now push ups are super nice and painless. Big thanks and God bless! 💪🏼🙏🏼
Fantastic! Nothing helps you get stronger like achieving better alignment and reducing paiin. Well done!
Hey matt this tip has completely changed my push ups, the tension control makes all the difference. My hands would slip away while doing push ups, but that is because I did not tense the forearms and hands properly. Now it doesn't happen any more and there is no wrist pain too. Thanks so much matt, keep doing you.
Fantastic Varun! Stoked to hear this, happy pushing my friend!
I just tried tensing my hands + forearm and my wrist didn't hurt! That is crazy thanks for the tips and knowledge, I'm definitely gunna check out your wrist warm up video too.
Great to hear! All gain, no Pain!
I don’t know where this video has been all my life but I thank you. My biggest issue with push-ups has been the amount of pain that I get while doing them and this worked like a charm.
I have BAD arthritis in the thumbs- in desperation, I started searching for UTube videos to help with the pain. This was the first one I watched, and it was a game changer!!! By using your technique the pain was eliminated while moving my wrists!!!😄 I just need to find exercises to build up the surrounding muscles, and I think I can keep from having surgery for a while. THANK YOU!!!! You've done more for me in a couple minutes, than a physical therapist couldn't, after a couple of months!
Bro this worked. I’ve been having wrist pain for about 5 years now. Ive been using the perfect push ups in order to do push ups. Thanks this helped me out tremendously.
I've had wrist pain for a year now doing push ups. It kept my reps and motivation down. Thank you!!! This helped alot
Its amazing how these small details completely changes the whole training experience despite doing the same routine for years! The way you explained how pressure flows past the joints through muscle tension is spot on game changer!!been a sub for a few years now but how did i miss this video until now.. big thanks anyways! Awesome content as always!
Thank you very much Tim!
I instantly got relief from worst pain....very informative video sir!!!
Doing this before every workout that puts weight on the wrists (so basically every one) for a few weeks now and damn dude, while the pain of course isn't gone yet I haven't felt this little of it during pushups since before a wrist injury from six years ago. Thank you so much and take care man! Looks like I found my go-to channel for possible similar problems
Glad to hear you're pain is decreasing Francklyn! Happy training!
@@RedDeltaProject Thanks mate all the best, been looking through your channel some more and I really enjoy it!
That's exactly the video i needed at this moment, Thanks Matt!
This is great advice, I tried doing my usual deadlift with back glute and leg tension and it was much harder but no back ache the next day !!
Most excellent!!!!!! Getting rid of any joint pain or even mild discomfort does wonders for health and strength.
Wonderful, my wrist are my Achilles heel. This looks promising.
My Achilles tendon are my Achilles heel
Same for me
Only clip on youtube I found helping almost instantly my wrist pain due to exercising, amazing, anytime I feel smallest pain I do this and the pain is gone and had never since almost pain alike the first time.
Much apriciated for sharing this
Omg thank you so much! It sucks having to do something else instead of push-ups when watching a work out video
Man.. this advice alone worth $1000,000. Thanks Matt. You are REALLY the best. God bless you brother
Alawys good to see your name here Naeem Fekri, thank you so much for watching and checking in 🙏🙏💪
I was just dealing with wrist pain doing pushups, so I searched for help and found this. Thanks for the help, you rock!👍

Amazing Video! Straight to the point, no unnecessary bla bla!
You are the best! This really made a lot of change
That gripping thing actually works for me. Thank you so much man
Thanks,definitely try it
I got wrist pain when practice hook punch with sandbag :)
Awesome info. I needed that. Thanks for another informative video. You should have your own tv show on a major network. I believe it would be a big success Matt. Take care man.
Thank you very much James Gilmore for your support and for watching my stuff :)
I just had an idea to do a video training program here so that might be similar. Stay tuned :) 😈
First, my life is complete...
aaaaaaaaand there's a check for that number on the bucket list! :P
Yea! I felt the strength in my wrists, thanks!
This really helped my wrists with my pushup routine. Thankyou sir
Just started working out and was so confused at why my wrists hurt so bad thanks for the advice :)
Wow and to think I just had weak wrists or something. Amazing what anatomy knowledge can do.
I think I've noticed this with my golfer's elbow and pullups. If I don't focus on my lats, my arms take up more of the strain and then my elbow hurts.
Great video again, Matt. But there’s no routine in the description.
Yikes! I'm on it thanks for metentioning it
RedDeltaProject 👍🏼 thanks
Thankyou so much for this video bro!! I actually feel the muscles in my chest work harder doing this too which is awesome!!
This ginuenly helped a lot, still have slight wrist pain, cause im fairly weak atm and am not used to working out and such, but this defetly helps in the long run :]
Happy to help Soop! Keep up the hard work!
If you keep your thumb out at a 90 degree angile it slightly lifts your wrist from the flat position helped me instantly
Thanks for the tip!
Thanks for this. I started incorporaing push ups into my workouts the past few weeks and wrist pain comes and goes. Hoping this will fix it.
I hope so as well, you can also try this simple exercise I've used to make my wrists so much stronger:

Thanks delta, bravo out 🫡
It’s crazy when you find out things. Before I’ve seen this,I would claw the floor for extra grip, which isn’t easy on hard wood floor
Your content is great!
Thanks man it fixed it. Kinda clawing the fooor but not truly
I asked for it...few days later a video is UP.
Matt you rock!!! 👊💥🤩
If you keep up this frequency and improvement like recently I am certain you will hit 2019 +100k subs!!! 👍😁👍
Thanks Marcello Antonio D.!
That's the goal for 2019, the drive for 100K is on!
😔
Ohh man this video is really helpful for me 🥺
worked like a miracle! U R AWESOME
Thanks, ur a life saver, keep up the good content
Wow, your methods actually worked perfectly, thank you so much!!
You're welcome!
Thank you for all the wonderful advice. Are you planning to address knee pain during lunges/squats?
@@JD-dm2qo Ive had knee pain 2 different ways with my squats myself. the first time, it was fixed by doing the warmup that Matt posted a while back, that IIRC was ment to help you achieve deeper squats. the second time was fixed by stretching my thighs before the squats, as the pain only seemed to come up with wide squats and not narrow squats. So I absolutely get it might be something that was covered with this last video with the 4 tips about joint pain.
This is very timely because I do 100 push ups everyday (302 days so far)
How has your upper body responded to doing 100 pushups a day. Particularly your pecs? I have thought about switching my workouts to doing that but haven't got up the nerve yet. Do you do any other exercises?
I hope to hear your reply. Thanks
development is slow but sure. My pecs have definitely grown. I have started doing handstand push ups, one arm push ups. its like I have more strength in my arms and at my core. There is also pseudo planch push ups, spiderman, archers and the list goes on. Push ups alone wont make u bulky but it sure will make u stronger. I will hit u up on yr channel, James

@@rogerastwood3500 yes. Praise God. I am glad to meet another Christian. We all need to stay in fellowship with each other. As far as exercise i actually won't to reduce and firm my chest muscles. I am a little heavier than i want to be plus have a case of gynecomastia that I'm trying to improve. What other e exercises do you do for the rest of your body?
@@jamesgilmore1684 i dont have a programme for the rest of my body yet.
Thanks dad
brilliant video bro💪🏻
A life saver
Instant fix hurt my hand sparring ain’t hit the gym in like a week.
thanks did the shifting movement thing and the pain already pretty much went away ill just keep doing it
saitama has guided me
Awesome. You are special sir!
Reading my mind great video
Thanks Matt.
More than welcome Jay!
Use pushup bars.....I have 9 inch bars.......they work great....going below hand level...deep stretch...slowly....greater range of motion....the old Charles Atlas in between chairs....without killing wrists...pec killer.....I squeeze tennis balls for wrists....reps and iso holds......also inverted rows blow up my forearms.....
Great video. Thanks for sharing
actively tried the exercises and immediately felt some pops that didnt necessarily feel BAD. (super weak musculature, in the process of working on my obesity…)
Bro is the best❤❤❤
thank you!! It worked for me instantly
Wonderful, glad to hear and thanks for letting me know
Hitting a punching bag is worse get advanced turmeric it's 100% natural it works at Costco thx for video bro great tip

Glad it helped!
I don't see a link for the Wrist Mobility protocol, please share. Thanks! Love your stuff.
Ooops sorry about that, I'll get right on it.
thank you so much i thought this was from tryhard gaming but it wasnt thanks !
Thank you so much this is actually what im missing to stress my fingers..
Those dislikes are from his local physiotherapists.
Great channel. Keep it up mate
Thank you very much Abood F for your support and for watching my stuff :)
Ohhhh hell yeah, thank you!!

My bad, check out this updated video for a simple drill:

Sir pls make a video on calf workout
God bless you bro
Thank you so much
Dude, thank you!
You're more than welcome Steven!
Bro, amazing
Thank you
Wrist mobility link coming, hold on fellow troops.
I eliminated all joint pain by locking out on every exercise
Love this, how often have we heard that locking out is what causes joint pain ?!
@@RedDeltaProject yeah I don't get it either.
i had this pain for nearly 6 months now, i dont know what to do im just kinda giving up at this point
No need to give up there Jake, you may be closer to a breakthrough than you think. When in doubt, get it checked out if you can . All of the advice on the internet can't come close to spending 5 minutes with someone who can give you hands-on assessment of what's going on
@@RedDeltaProject thanks a lot for the help but I’ve been to multiple physiotherapist who tried to help me but just told me to get it fixed with a steroid or whatever it was called
@@RedDeltaProject you’re right I can’t give up, today I started doing your exercises and ima stick to them and let you know
@@maciuscysterna I think you have the same problem as me when I go into a pushup position and push down my wrist starts to hurt now ive had this for 6months aswell
i still dont have full range of motion yet but what i did was essentially get into and out off a handstand position very quickly and it helped me but i dont advise it
Good information. Any vids on an injured wrist ? I'll check around the channel.
Depends on the injury but in general:
- let pain by your guide and don't do things that hurt
- Use less resistance and range of motion if necessary and build up slowly over time
Don't ignore injury, you don't wan't to have to wrap your wrist for the rest of your life for a preventable chronic injury.
Your video helped me so much in my planche training.
By the way can i do different pullups with different grips to train different body parts in a single workout.
Please reply.
Happy to be of help,
Different grips change the subtle flavor and tension of the pull-up but for the most part it's the same move and the same general muscle groups.
Thank you so much for you r share experience with people 🤗🤗
You're more than welcome manish singh and thank you very much for watching :)
@@RedDeltaProject please sir you can put Hindi captions options in next upcoming videos ?
I literally stop at like 10 or 12 push-ups just because not my arms are weak and hurt no my risk hurt to bad so hope this helps.
Whats the science behind this excercise? It makes sense, but WHY?
What about getting push up bars? Fir me it's more of a backpain
That may be a very different issue, possibly due to scapular elevation during the push-ups where you're hunching up your shoulders.
you’re my muse.
I injured my wrist when I fell down some stairs. It never healed.
My right wrist hurts. From push ups
How long do I have to do it?
Still hurts
Thanks bro
02:27 Holy shit even your fingers look muscular
My arm cracked when I did 12 push up
what if you are using push up boards? Thanks
Thank you✨️
You're welcome, best of luck in your push training.
I hurt it during armwrestling
Does this really work?
can this also help when doing planks?
Ok ive been through a lot @RedDeltaProject my wrist pain started from about 3 months ago and I watched your vids and commented about wrist and u replied, a month later I thought my wrist pain disappeared so I started working out again and the rest is history please help me and make another video about wrist pain I think my wrist started getting used to ur excersises so I need any other way to fix my wrist
Unless you have an injury in the wrist you probably have something out of alignment with your technique. Best to have someone check your form in person to see if there's anything a little off.
@@RedDeltaProject I have but and they said it was perfect i asked like 10 times and the same answer would be given and no i dont think its an injury because for several months it comes and goes
Now I play kickboxing and this guy broke my wrist by kicking it and then knocked me out, so now (about a year later) when I do push-ups my wrist hurts, got any tips for me?
An in jury is a very different situation, certainly get it checked out to make sure there's nothing structural going on.
@@RedDeltaProject alr I will thnx for the video though!
