The three states I genuinely felt unsafe in were Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Indiana. There were parts of Mississippi and Pennsylvania that seem post-apocalyptic. Most big cities aren't that bad, outside of areas most people would have no reason to go to.
I live in a State with a huge crime rate. Im in a blue coller neighbor hood and have no problem with theft in any way. There are areas with in 10 miles I wont get out of my car. Its all in the neighbors.
The thing about Chicago is that, outside of things like the weird shooting spree that was happening in the Loop a couple of years ago, people who know the city know where the hotbeds mostly are. And statistically, your chances are better if you don't go there. You still keep your wits about you at all times, but there are still places where you aren't going to be shot stepping out of your door. What's wild is that I spend a lot of time in Chicago and have yet to be a victim of crime. But I've endured three property crimes in Minneapolis.

Thanks to myself once researching city and town profiles, on the website and message board City Data. And though it is not in Missouri, Tulsa(OK) unfortunately also had an above average crime rate.
It seems to me that you frequently interchanging “crime rates” with “total crimes”! Yes, NY City’s total crimes committed is relatively high, but the “crime rate” is VERY low!
I wonder how much of a difference it would be if you took out Detroit and Flint's crime rates. There's still some other trouble areas like Lansing and Saginaw, but those first two are way over performing for the rest
what surprises me is that people demonstrate against (not institutionalised) police brutality, while apparently there are much much bigger issues to protest against.... I am sure some people stood up a cheered when that hit the news a couple years ago.
I was born and raised in Tennessee. Crime has always been bad here. Chattanooga is bad also!!!
Did I hear that correctly: It's not a true fact unless the FBI says it is? Riiiiiiiight. :)
Back in the early '70s Peach Tree Street in Atlanta was a hippie mecca. Lots of drugs and some violent crime. I haven't been there in decades.
Best Bbq according to Briggs has a ring to it, I would subscribe.
Perception vs reality, good job Mr Briggs! 👍
Usually the highest crime rate states also have the most corrupt cops
good one !!! interesting !!!!
15:35 - #3 is New Mexico, and within the state, Albuquerque is the worst city. And within Albuquerque, you got the "War Zone". The name says it all.
I have a friend who actually lives in the war zone, he is an employee at the Verde Loma motel. Rough place
@@johncarlo2630 Does he still have a job considering, "City shuts down Loma Verde Motel due to deplorable living conditions, constant crime" that was in the news a few days ago?
@ yes he does, he is actively helping the owner renovate the motel
This is where Mr briggs needs to be corrected in terms of California. The crime is not just high in the cities you mention it also has expanded to the following: i know first hand from decades of experience. Here you go:
Sacramento
Rancho Cordova
Elk Grove
Stockton
Antioch
Fresno
Modesto
Ceres
Turlock
Bakersfield
Fairfield
Redding
Manteca
Lathrop
Pleasanton
Dublin
Tracy
Livermore
Shall I go on?
Oakland is not on your list
@@dangreene3895 seriously right? ICE could spend half a decade trying to clean up the "Valley" and East Bay alone.
Oh yes, thought of a few more towns for which i had "experiences", more towns on the turd list include:
Crows landing
Chowchilla
Fremont
Pittsburgh
Brentwood..gross
Citrus heights
Ripon .. losers from east bay and drug growth out of hand.
Visalia
Tulare
Lancaster
Hilmar
Livingston
May as well live in a 3rd world country.
It’s almost like the redder the area the higher the crime. I see a correlation. 😅
@@LiveBalanced365
Vote red, expect more crime. It seems to be related.
I was just checking my subs and here we are.
Beware coming to Memphis TN ! It's no joke!
Interesting, as always.
Thank you for the video
Woah! Is that friendly sarcasm or are you actually throwing shade at Donut? lol.
Briggs. I’m a big comedy fan. I know you used to do stand up. Where’s the best place to find it?
“Where to relocate to spice up your life with a little panic and insomnia” 😂
My catalytic converter was taken at 8 AM in the McDonald's parking lot off I25 in Colorado springs. I was inside eating breakfast.
To be fair, California has the same crime problem that Chicago does: generally not terrible overall, but oh for the raging hotbeds...
@@cherylhulting1301 I can agree as someone from the New York Metropolitan Area that frequents Chicagoland. Its about minding your own business and being aware of your surroundings. I've even been to the South Side late at night with a friend who is aa CTA bus driver. We generally do not have issues.
@@cherylhulting1301 property crime is definitely worse, youre a sitting duck, especially if they go INTO houses. That being said i rather not be at risk for muggings in a city either..
@@cherylhulting1301nope Chicago sucks as a whole
The fact of the matter is that almost all large cities in the every one of these United States has an obscene level of crime. Most smaller cities, towns and rural areas have low crime rates, though I have heard of rural towns with drug related crime or with drug trafficking gang activity.
Arizona is having ALOT of Criminals from California relocating there.
That's also true of Nevada, Colorado and other States that are experiencing a lot of incoming Californians
I'm sure all of those affluent Californian retirees are really driving crime rates.
You can see totally see it with *checks notes* Arizona's declining crime rates.
Yeah no joke about that I despise those people They have brought hell with them whatever they go A lot of drama when I was in Arizona in the '90s all those anti-gun signs on the windows I know at least half of those were from California business owners and I always resented them for that Now these fruitcake California people have hell in the backyard It's no fun there fellas.
People are leaving California going back to where they came from. GOOD!
I saw a billboard once in Nevada that read “What happens in Vegas could get you 15 to life” and in parentheses “(we also have the death penalty here)”.
Opinions about California are often litmus tests for Dunning-Kruger.
Always enjoy your content. Very interesting video. Thanks!
....whooooooo. wild list
I think it would be more useful to give the ratings per cities mentioned rather than the whole state, different areas of a state are gonna be where numbers are higher of course, so its best to know how the cities rank individually
The FBI rankings were by state
@@FranklinJuniper-uh2lk yea but im saying its useful to know rankings by city, even if its a different source because ultimately its hard to know what the deal is
I moved to Oregon from Arkansas. Never experienced any crime. Here in Oregon there are shootings nearly every night, car theft, arsenists. I don’t know this scale is wrong.
What city ? Portland?
I live in Oregon--I'm not seeing the same thing you do. In fact, I live on a houseboat, and my main entrance does not lock. I've never worried about it.
Portland, we lived 28 yrs. Moved 4 yrs ago to Florida. Crime and taxes high. Saving 38% in income taxes
SS taxes, howmowners...all insurances. We visit Oregon, but it's not realistic to retire there with any future money cost of living savings. Oregon government SUCKS YOUR savings and paycheck dry. Sad state for young up and coming adults. Crazy politicians there also.
I lived in Fairbanks in the late 90s and at least back then the crime seemed to mostly be in one part of town. The rest of the city felt safe.
Lets not forget about Billings MT and ND,SD
Crime, Too Much Obtrusive, Ineffective, and Bossy Government, and too many Bad Drivers and Illegal Alien Criminals are Why I moved to southeast Idaho in July 2024. It's Much better, Saner, and Safer here than there.
SE Idahoan here. Welcome!
At least You're not from California
As a fellow Baltimore resident, I am very shocked and proud to see that MD is not on this list LOL
Speaking of Missouri, I'm surprised you didn't mention the crime rate is above average in Springfield. It isn't the worst crime rate I've ever seen(versus say like Pine Bluff, Arkansas), but it is above average for what a city of its size should be at. Thanks to myself once researching city and town profiles, on the website and message board City Data.
And though it is not in Missouri, Tulsa(OK) unfortunately also had an above average crime rate.
Gritty charm of Detroit, lol.
Albuquerque is bad!! Especially for a small city
Albuquerque itself is well over 500,000 population. That is not a small city. Taos is a small city along with Gallup.
ALBUQUERQUE come on vacation. Leave them on probation!
Crimes are actually about location, location, location..
Yep 👍
Try Hartford or new haven ct or Bridgeport ct bro 😮
What’s scary is all of those numbers are skewed and are way higher.
It seems to me that you frequently interchanging “crime rates” with “total crimes”! Yes, NY City’s total crimes committed is relatively high, but the “crime rate” is VERY low!
I'm surprised that Florida didn't appear here, although I would expect the FBI list to rank them higher than viewers did
Don't criminalize my Colorado or it's going to get real ugly
Too late. It's already been criminalized and it's ugly anywhere around Dumbver
@safeandeffectivelol nope just LoDO and Aurora because of Woke Demoncrappers
@DENVEROUTDOORMAN I have friends in Pueblo. They say it's just as bad as Denver
I wonder how much of a difference it would be if you took out Detroit and Flint's crime rates. There's still some other trouble areas like Lansing and Saginaw, but those first two are way over performing for the rest
So grateful to live in Hawaii -- expensive, but with one of the lowest crime rates anywhere.
I want to start a drinking game and take a shot whenever you say BBQ on this channel!! lol thanks for the info
How stupid
Thank you!
what surprises me is that people demonstrate against (not institutionalised) police brutality, while apparently there are much much bigger issues to protest against.... If all these stats are correct, why isn't anybody protesting against violent crimes, theft, SA, etc etc etc????? I guess most people prefer 'feeling' righteous over being right...
