Fun build. 👍 On the door subject, in the US doors on homes will tend to open inward for the front door, but businesses open outward. This is generally due to fire code to ensure unobstructed emergency exit. Outward opening also tends to offer more security from forced entry and weather related forces such as high wind due to the frame support of the inner door.
Agree on doors...drives me crazy! Lol. Love you builds and liked the tour of Helvetia...puts the build and design touches into perspective. Fire in the stove trick and new lamps help a ton! Thank you as always for what you do!
This is so cute! Yes, even with the blue walls. I have to admit I rather like the blue, though I will concede it is a bit cartoony. The kitchen and conservatory are my favourite parts of the build, the brick backdrop looks so good, and the conservatory is so cosy :)
k, so forgive me if you notice this later cos I'm pausing at the begining, but to switch the door to open in, you just rotate it in build mode. it'll snap to the opposite part of the door jamb and open inwards instead. I have it on my main house, so I'm 100% sure it works. I only have a few doors, so this one was quickly my favourite for my cabin builds. Also in the US yes, our home doors (by and large) open inwards, but our public doors open outwards to avoid crowd crush in an emergency. There were a lot of past incidents that took a lot of lives that could have been solved if their doors opened out so we tried to make that a standard in public. I think since this set was based off of the main building in the town that it's more primed for a public building, idk. For me, I like the blue, but I was disappointed by the red on the porch as I dislike the colour red haha.
I am aware of how to change the direction of doors lol I mean the pattern is intended to be on the outside, therefore the door is intended to open outwards and if you watch more than 30 seconds you will see when I tour Helvetia the doors there open outwards.
Nice little cottage. I personally prefer the blue version over the wallpaper one. But blue is my favourite colour, so there's that. Thanks for showing the trick with the triple wall inset, that's brilliant, I will be using that in my next build. Love your videos, always something new to learn and you explain everything perfectly.

Completely agree on the blue colour. I like blue, but that shade seems a bit too dark. The yellow would have been much nicer. Oddly enough, outward-opening doors is a Scandinavian thing, as the cold, damp, icey climate means doors are better at keeping the elements out of the house if they swing outward. You can also do the ninja scandi-door-opening technique when leaving in the morning (there's a video of it on youtube), where you only open the door a fraction to mean you can get out without letting all the cold in.
Sorry, not a Scandinavian door opening trick, but a Nordic one, specifically Finnish, although other Nordic and Scandinavian countries may have a similar technique.
What a cute and fun cottage build ! The set is nice with the detailing, trim pieces and shutters but I totally agree that the colors are off meaning they don't blend well. How did you get fire in the wood stove?
I put a fire ball on an object, I used the glass jar that came with the shooting gallery but you could use something else. Placed it on a conduit. Placed it on the floor where I wanted the fire to go, destroyed it, and slid the stove over the top. Repaired the conduit.
@@LucyJanePlays ahhhh, well hopefully I can test that out soon. I tried everything I could to make it look like a fire but my attempts were heavily thwarted so far.
It's a wall decor item that was in the atom store a few months ago. You can contact Bethesda, they have a list of available items you can buy, I don't know if it's on there yet though
I googled it and apparently in Sweden a lot of people died in a fire so a King decreed all doors should open outwards. Public buildings do here for that reason but not houses. My house opens out on to the street, I'd probably maim a lot of pedestrians if my door opened outwards lol
I was so disappointed with the Helvetia set. It looked good in pictures, but working with it in game was not impressive. I don't know if I'll ever use it. Wasted atoms. :(

In the UK most houses these days have upvc doors that bolt into the frame in 3 places so they are impossible to kick in
