Bryan Habana - The Ultimate Tribute

- Bryan Habana is the greatest Springbok wing of all time. This is a big statement to make. Older folks will quickly remind me of Tom van Vollenhoven, Jannie Engelbrecht, Gert Muller, Carel du Plessis and Ray Mordt. As great as these players were, I still believe that Bryan Habana is the best of the lot. He scored tries that no other player would be able to score. He was an all round player and was solid on defense, not just on attack.
Apart from his exploits on the field, Habana is also the ultimate Springbok off the field. The way he conducts himself in the public eye and how he champions the Springboks of today is an example for all ex-players.
Bryan, thank you for all the amazing memories.
Enjoy and thanks for watching!
OK, when you sit through more than 1 and a half hours of highlights of any sporting legend ... then you must know, THIS dude must have been something else! And indeed, he was!!
He was an okay player, and a real dickhead in person.

But only 70 comments which makes it funny..love Habana but no one gets close to his idol Caucaunibuca
I met Carel du Plessis in December 2008 at a tennis tournament on The Island, Mossel Bay, with my 8-year-old son. I introduced my son to Carel and explained to him that Carel was known as the Prince of Wings, and the best wing SA has ever produced. In a flash, my son responded that Bryan Habana was much better. I was so embarrassed, but to Carel's credit, he just laughed and agreed with my son. It is a story that I will remember fondly. My son still gets teased about it.
You could and should have corrected the little sh!t…
@@bushbabybotha9943that’s mean 😢
@@njabulo5476 that’s true
They should show this at Ster Kinekor. It could win an Oscar.
This is the best comment ever... thanks bud!
To think, the Bulls bought him to play outside centre next to Ettiene Botha. It’s a shame Ettiene passed away or he would’ve gone on to become a Bok. Was harshly over-looked for the Bok team.
Imagine him and Bryan being the Bok centre pair lol.
That said, was a stroke of genius from Heyneke to put Habana on the wing. Definitely the best winger of all time. If he wore black, it wouldn’t even be up for discussion. Habana had to go look for the ball, as the Boks and bulls both played forward play. He was simply just outstanding in everything he did and the walking definition of what it means to be world class Elite.
So glad he was a Bok and a Bull
I was there at Loftus for the Blues game in which Habana scored 2 tries in the corner in the space of two minutes. Will never forget that day. That’s when a young Morne Steyn first broke onto the scene. Nostalgia
Not even the best wing in South Africa in his era, much less of all time, ettienne botha should have been the one still around and the one who played springbok rugby, he was twice as good as habana.
@@bushbabybotha9943 yeah, if not for his passing, he certainly would’ve become one of the bok greats..
But in habana, you mention there were better wingers than him, but right now, I fail to remember any… would be nice to be reminded which wingers you speak of. My brain is rusty today hahaha
@@wernertukker5420 carel, Danie whenever he played wing, pieter (both slapchips and hendricks) kolbe, arendse, I could go on..
@@bushbabybotha9943 I was referring to his time.. you said he wasn’t even the best during his time… who during his playing time would you pick before him, because no one jumps out at me.
Not sure if you refer to Danie Gerber, but I really won’t count the times he played on the wing as reason enough to pick him above habana. When he played for the Boks, it was at 13
Ray Mordt is certainly in the discussion, Carel was great too, but not sure anyone can really stake a claim to be our best wing of all time more than Habana.
He don’t play in free flowing backline, as the Bulls stampkar rugby was the order of the day for the Bokke. He created things out of nothing, was solid on defence and a very very intelligent player. A truely world class player through and through. Slap chips was great; but nowhere near Habana
@@wernertukker5420 when you are a rugby expert and not just a Braai and brandy and coke rugby fan then debate with me, I couldn’t be bothered.
10:34 that was outrageous. From the kickoff immediately after scoring his first try he then does that to score his second.
Another outstanding video, this is such a good channel. As a Kiwi who grew up playing in the outside backs, I love Habana (except when he made the ABs look like the local high school 2nd XV). Players like him, Wilson, Campese, Cullen. My heroes.
Thanks for the kind words mate, I'm glad you are enjoying the videos
I'm with you dude!
Well done, this is the most complete tribute. He did score many more tries in the Top 14 too. One aspect that could have made this tribute even longer was his defense - tackling and turnovers. Look no further than his try saver on Lachie Turner in 2009 Tri-Nations, hitting turner with such force that Turner punctured his lung.
Takes me back when the bulls had a legendary team Habanas 1st game against the Bulls I knew that he was special He remains in Springbok & Blue bulls supporters hearts
How can a tribute be 1.5 hours long?!... sorry I see it is for Habana! 🤩
You follow my sentiment lol!!
Thank you for editing these videos, its a huge amount of work and you do a great job
Thanks so much for the kind words! Hours go into each video, but its time well spent! Thanks for watching
IMO, Habana is the greatest wing in rugby history
Thankfully you know nothing about rugby, he wasn’t even the best in the country in his era!
@@bushbabybotha9943 you wanna tell me I know nothing about rugby? Please tell me then who was a better winger in SA than Bryan Habana during his era? Stick to smoking dagga bru, not tik ok?

Thank you for this!
Thank you!!!!!!
Legendary theme tune is back!
Brilliant tribute for a brilliant player, I wouldn't have included the Brumbies intercept though, I remember that game he had an issue with his hamstring, only reason he got ran down, was reported in our nexs paper the next morning too that he might miss the next game.

Finally after 2 years of asking😂😂😂. You removed the super rugby one some time back. Thank you.
That try at 10:34 is by far the BEST of them all...this dude was lightning fast...pure speed and presence of mind.🙌🏿
We appreciate the hard work in making this, thank you.
Thanks! Appreciate the support!
When I played bulletjie rugby as a kid everyone wanted to wear the number 11 jersey because of this guy!
Absolute legend!
8:46 is the same match Richie McCaw tried to tackle Richard Bands and woke up in hospital… yikes 😬..
Mate, I’ve been looking for that clip in like forever. I’ll never forget that moment. Victor pushed him in the back, just before the moment of impact, and that’s what sent Richie to lala land. I still feel that earth shattering moment as if it just happened.
I have a lot of kiwi work mates, and been telling them about that and no one believes me, so been looking for that clip for so long. Glad someone else remembered it too hahaha
@@wernertukker5420ua-cam.com/video/_8YbwMGVn9o/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared got you man.
May I ask why you didn't include the third try he scored against the FS Cheetahs in Currie Cup? Nice to hear the intercept try v Leinster in English and French.
Either I don't have the clip or it was copyrighted
10:40. For me the best try of all time… magic.
Not taking anything away from Habana, but he always seemed to get the lucky bounce😅
A lot of people say that Lomu is the GOAT, but I won't pick him over Habana.
Habana wouldn’t have even made my springbok team.. he was okay, not great.
@@bushbabybotha9943you just don’t give up do you 😂😂
@@devongarvie6261 well of course not, that happens when I’m right and you’re wrong
This is awesome! Would be great to have 1 for Frans Steyn?
🔥
Greatest wing of all time.
I like how the bulls realized the only way they could contain Habana would be by buying him from the lions 😂
Stormers saw it but by that bulls already got the best part of Bryan
At 1:15:18 you see a very Young Siya kolisi image years later he would the first captain of SA to win back to back cups
55:56 Amazing Stormers team try.
@real rugby have you worked for a broadcasting station in South Africa like DSTV, SABC or ETV
Hi there. No I have not, why do you ask?
I have contributed to TV shows like the Rassie Erasmus documentary, Chasing the Sun, Groen en Goud and a couple of other shows
@@RealRugby ohh I ask because you have more than a truck load of sa rugby footage.
I know you love sa rugby, ever thought of transitioning to world rugby? Like posting all the good players you know, matches that have happened in rugby
I've definitely started doing that. I want to do more NH tributes. Currently busy with Shane Williams, Johnny Sexton, Ben Cohen, Jason Robinson and George North.
Amazing player and the fastest speedy 🏉🏉✨🤩😎🐆🏎️🏎️💨
Hey what's the song playing at the start of the video?
It's the theme song from an old TV show called "The Game"
Coloureds are made for these positions Moodie will follow this tradition.
I enjoyed ever moment of this except 32:52
This man was too good and too fast
