Outstanding video! So many great athletes and coaches interviewed.
I was fortunate to play for Dave Triplett from 82-85 and remember when the snow caved our dome in. I believe it happened on Monday or Tuesday night and we were ready to host Morningside by Saturday evening. There were so many people, (athletes and coaches included) who worked to keep the dome a classy facility. I"ll always be proud to be a USD graduate!

Here is another story line. I grew up in Vermillion but had left before the start of building the dome. I remember returning many times and talking with a family friend, Dick Storm, who was on the Physical Plant staff about the building of the dome and then getting tours as it was finished up. He told me stories which were referenced in the video about shooting out the water pockets with 12 gauge shotgun slugs during snow storms to prevent the panels from collapsing. Since he did the shooting, they could say it was "storm" damage. He also described being there when the roof panel blew out during the one storm. He had just ordered the people off the roof who had been trying to shovel off the snow. The northwest wind was whipping ice junks over to the east side so they came down. Just after they were off the one section let loose and threw pieces of snow and ice beyond the east parking lot. Dick said the roof inflation system was designed to hold the roof up for 24 hrs if all the doors were opened in an emergency. The panel blew out and the roof came down immediately.
What was also interesting was watching the replacement roof being installed via the web cam that was pointed at the building the whole time. I would check it out every couple of days from here in central upstate New York and watch the progress.

What an awesome documentary. So well done! Kudos to the Midco Sports Network crew who put this together. I have vivid memories of the Dome as a kid and a college student. The place has served the entire state and the university so well through the years. The South Dakota High School Football Playoffs would be a disaster without it! Keep up the good work, Midco Sports Network! You guys do great work.

Joe Robbie will always have a special place in our hearts here in South Florida for bringing Miami our first Franchise and then built Hard Rock Stadium when all other owners were demanding Tax Payers build stadiums.... God rest his soul, I didn't know his influence in this project, I just came here because I like Stadiums (Football/Soccer), and wanted to learn more about the FargoDome and DakotaDome.

Richard Lennon - A very well done video and one that should make every USD alumni extremely proud. I was privileged to know many of the people featured in this video, both as a USD alumnus and a Vermillion resident. Congratulations to all involved in this fantastic undertaking!

Would love to see a new stadium of 15, 000 seats or expand the Dakotadome to 15,000 seats.
