2011 All England: The 2nd WD of China (Wang Xiaoli/Yu Yang) really destroyed the 1st WD of Japan (Mizuki Fujii/Reika Kakiiwa). Don't ask the score was.
2018 All England: The 1st WD of World from China even couldn't beat the 3rd WD of Japan.

It's so satisfying to see the pretty Yonemoto winning against the crazy screamers Chen/Jia - the 'Carolina Marin' of women's doubles. Damn..
The weak link here is JIA YF. She cannot pounce on the net UNLIKE her partner, CHEN Qin C, and HER predecessors ZHAO YL, MA JIN, and even the current HUANG YA QIONG. Maybe that is why the Chinese coaches did not put her in a mixed double combination. PROBABLY Chen Qin Chen and HUANG Dong Pin will be a more lethal combination.
Anthony Cheng nah.. CQC plays like a gorilla and screamed the hell out of her own energy. Probably she will play better if she doesn't scream like a psycho.
that's not at all a reasonable explanation, yu yang, tang yuanting, wang xiaoli they also never pounced on the net, but still were pretty good. It's just that jia is not a net player, her job is from back court, which she does pretty well.
If you look at it carefully, ZhaoYL, MaJin, Huang YaQiong , and BaoYiSing and the previous great GaoLing, always pounce at the net to deliver the coup de grace, just like the INA girl Polli. JYF just can't do that.
not everyone can do that, it's important in XD not in WD, in WD there's always a net player and a back court player like tian qing, wang xiaoli, tang jinhua and so on, jia yifan is also a back court player.
I didn't like the service judge, before interval in the third game, Jia's service was definitely fault!

Chen and Jia have an abundance of physical talent - no need to be so obnoxious as a psychological tactic, especially Chen. They behave like spoiled children. So easy to appreciate the cool calm humble approach of Tanaka and Yonemoto...
watching this in 2024 and there are no more WD pair with unbreakable defense and instigate the long rallies with great endurance like Tanaka/Yonemoto to endure the attacking play of Chen/Jia. The other known defensive WD pairs who able to endure Chen/Jia are the prime Fukushima/Hirota, Greysia Polii/Apriyani Rahayu, Misaki Matsutomo/Ayaka Takahashi.
The WD today is all about attacking with lack of the art of defensive play like i mentioned above.
Shiho Tanaka & Koharu Yonemoto was the Only One Teams cant defeat By Chen Qin Chen & Jia Yi Fan Forever.

I actually like Chen/Jia because of their partnership. They may be noisy screaming all the time, but they have manners toward the opponent, and they give credit to each other when they get the points . But when they're losing points in the game, they keep frustrating and making more and more errors, instead of focusing on the next point, or trying to encouraging each other. That's what makes them lost to the Japanese.
